A couple of weeks back we visited this wonderful Hotel and the schedule we had was a little bit tight since we were in a rush to come back the next day evening. From the Welcome to the Departure; the assistance we had from all the Staff was tremendous. The surrounding and the garden, are maintained very well where you can have a relaxing Morning Walk by the river while having a quick run to the Tree House and the Mud House. Food was really tasty and you must try their Local varieties specially. They all supported us to get the total advantage from our limited time schedule and would like to Thank everyone out there who did a marvelous job. For us; it was a Home away from Home! We will definitely be back to experience more!

A great place to stay around Wasgamuwa National Park. We have travelled as a family with a 2 year old infant. All the staff from top to bottom were very hospitable and they have given their fullest support to make our stay memorable. They have built a villa next to the main hotel and that was the home for our stay. Rooms were simple clean and having garden view with lake aside. Child cots were not available but we manage the sofa attaching to the bed as a baby cot. Safes were not available in the Villa but I guess they might be available in the main hotel but not sure. soap was available in the bathrooms but no shower gel or shampoo. Its better if hotel take necessary actions taking this feed back constructively.

Food was delicious and we enjoyed lot. The Manager and the chief was asking us what ever the preferences we need for the meals and had prepare them for us.

Hotel has their own safari Jeep which we can rent for a Safari in Wasgamuwa National park by paying additional amount of money.

Thank you for making our stay memorable

Very nice location with balconies and terraces of rooms overlooking the pool, lake and distant Knuckles mountain range, beautiful. The pool is really nice and clean except there’s no pool seating which is a shame.
The staff are plentiful, friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious but there is a lack of little comforts like cushions for the hard wooden upright balcony chairs, only one pillow each, no hand towels just bath towels.
The bathroom is small and although plenty of hot water and a nice shower needs an update. Just a good scrub and fresh grouting would make a big difference.
Breakfast is good with fresh fruit, juice, toast, pancakes and fried egg or omelettes.
There’s a large choice of menu , we had pad Thai seafood noodles which was very tasty. The second night was a buffet style.
Ideal location to visit nearby Wasgamuwa which is a beautiful but less visited National park where we had a wonderful experience seeing elephants up close. Recommend one or two nights here just to visit the park.

Our two double rooms were well appointed and clean. The pool is gorgeous and we were provided with pool towels. Portering staff were all female and very helpful.

Getting back from a great safari, we looked forward to a nice dinner. Sadly easily the worst food we've had in 3 weeks in Kerala and Sri Lanka. More like a school dinner buffet. Also tried to charge us for water that we had been told was included. The only way they would waive the charge was for us to reimburse them with the same amount of our own bottled water! Not good PR for a hotel trying to cater for a higher standard.
Breakfast was no better. It included chips plus reheated chicken from the previous evening. One of the 4 omelettes never materialised and we gave up waiting.
We cannot recommend this place, although apparently choices are limited in this area.

We had a wonderful time at the Lavendish Wild Safari Hotel, Wasgamuwa. From our arrival on the 31st of July 2020, till our departure on the 1st of August, we were treated well and in fact the restaurant staff and the front desk staff delivered a superb service. The food was delicious and of high quality and we loved the hotel atmosphere as well. All in all, we had a memorable one night stay and it was indeed worth every rupee we spent. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who took care of us and made sure that we had an amazing stay. We look forward to visiting you again in the next University Holiday. Thank you.

It is a 2* hotel or 3* at best. If any more stars were to be given it would be a shame on so many great hotels / villas in the country. Having said that in the particular Wasgamuwa area perhaps there aren't too many other options.

The rooms were large but the toilets and some of the amenities need to be maintained. The food could certainly be a little more diverse if a bueffet system is to be used. The staff were very nice (particularly the girls doing the cleaning) but could be trained much more if perhaps the manager took a little more interest in the place.

Well situated hotel to go on safari. I stayed in one of the 4 apartments, situated in a newly built place next to the hotel: very spatious room with large balcony, spatious toilet and after that came the shower part. All seemed to be new and everything was very clean. Very welcoming manager as well as staff who really do everything to give you a real homefeeling. The room has so much space that you could easily stay for a longer period. The property is situated next to a lake with many birds where also wild elephants use to come in the early morning or sunset. Nice garden area with pool, also safe for children. I struggled a little bit with the food as it contained all the time the same buffet morning and evening, as well as some new items, but well. There was not much choise to drink: water or water, coffee or thea. So I did fail to see the value for money there. But the rest was very much okay.

It was a very good experience. Though the menu was simple, the food was very tasty, prepared with careful selection. The staff was very pleasant. But I wish if the bathroom was little bit more cleaner. That was not actually bad, but my expectations are very high in that regard. Anyway, the staff tried their best to comfort us in every aspect.
They arranged a very good driver for the safari, he took an immense effort to give us the best, and we were able to be surrounded by herds of elephants. But we were safe. We really enjoyed that moment. He was very knowledgeable about wild animals and the jungle too.
Its a really worth stay and an experience at a fair rate.

Safe, relaxing and comfortable stay near Wasgamuwa National Park. The proprietor and staff could not have been more helpful, organising a safari and onward transport to Habarana. Food was buffet-style with plenty of options, plentiful and tasty.
