Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There was rain during our stay, but it made the experience better because it activated most of the nearby mini waterfalls. We had a great spa experience and thanks to Prageeth for the massage. The only downside was that the food was kind of limited.

Perhaps one of the most beautiful locations we have visited!. We arrived on 8th evening, looking forward to a sumptuous meal. But we were told to help ourselves to a simple buffet with rice, chicken, dhal, potatoes and beans. They did not seem to have any person in charge. However there were some extremely nice staff, although some of them are extremely lost! Our room was situated right next to a very loud construction site where people were building a new room site. It was extremely loud during the day. On the day that we planned to check out, the power had been turned off in order to aid the construction site. For exorbitant amount the hotel charged, we could have (and should have) visited a boutique hotel in the hills.

We had high hopes for this hotel as it was expensive and had good reviews but unfortunately it didn’t lived upto the standards. We booked a villa with a private pool, one of the most expensive rooms in the hotel. I felt like it was not designed by an architect. It was nice but not worth the price. No wardrobe to hang your clothes, no iron, no robes etc… The private pool also was not in a good condition compared to other luxury hotels in Sri Lanka. There were damaged tiles in the pool. Toilet WC has to be replaced. It was shaking and it was not comfortable. The menu and the taste of the western food was horrible. I have a feeling that they don’t have a professional chef. I ordered a pasta which they said comes with tomato paste which is basically sugo pasta but when I got it, it was just pasta with tomato sauce and that’s unacceptable. Ala carte and set menu was not good enough although the local food was okay. Staff was super friendly and did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable but I think this is not worth 60k LKR per night. I feel like I was robbed.

Calm environment to spend a relaxing time close to the nature. Meals are very delicious. Friendly staff and excellent service. We used foot massage and it was great. Suggestions for the rooms: Add electric kettle with tea / coffee maker. Paper tissues.

The architecture is very beautiful but when we arrived, there was an extreme chemical smell of mothballs (especially in the room). After 2 days, we had to leave because we got too sick for the first time in 25 days: headache, nausea , cramps, eye irritation… apparently a reaction to the toxic naphthalene in mothballs. We were sick for another couple of days. The disgusting smell was in every fiber of our luggage and clothes (mothballs change into gas and when used in large amounts, it gets into fibers) and took us 2 days of constantly cleaning them to get rid of it. I told the manager mothballs are toxic for themselves and their guests ( I thought they didn’t know) and if they used alternatives for upcoming guests we wouldn’t write this in our review. She would immediately speak to her manager. When I asked for an update a few days later, she told me they’re still trying to find what could have been the cause of the sickness?? I started reading the reviews and read that guests had already told them this so they already knew this but don’t change it. My husband ordered the traditional breakfast (the menu said it was a combination of 5 dishes rice with curry). He only got rice and maple sirup. We asked where the curry was and she said: we wanted to see if you would like this first??? So you’re waiting for guests to complain about the food before giving them what they pay for (3500 rupees)?? They also didn’t serve the included fruit platter until we asked it.. The fact that you still use products knowing it’s toxic, is really disturbing… Sustainability is not their vision at all but just a commercial scam.

Arsulana Eco Lodge in Ginigathhena, Sri Lanka, offers breathtaking views of mountains and a beautiful river. During our stay, we experienced exceptional hospitality from the staff and enjoyed delicious food. During our stay at Arsulana, the staff provided excellent hospitality. They were attentive to our needs and made sure we had a memorable experience. The team was always happy to help and offered friendly assistance whenever we needed it. Their dedication to customer satisfaction was evident throughout our stay. We stayed in a Kurundu Villa and the villa provides a serene and private setting, making it ideal for relaxation and rejuvenation. Arsulana is the perfect destination for an unforgettable experience surrounded by nature.

If you are a travel agent, please don't recommend this place for your valuable customers. Because *the road to the hotel was so bad and there are many scammers in the hotel including guest relations lady. They dont know how to treat customers and if u do any complaint about facilities they are soo rude. And telling to leave thire hotel in the night. As a travel agent u shouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The lady i mentioned try to scam tourist by providing tuk tuk and village guides and a fake spa.
