Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent cottages. The pillows ARE fluffy. Please note: they are across the tracks from a lot of the town of Dry Ridge (were hard to find by GPS). If you are a railfan, Norfolk Southern runs a LOT of freights past at all hours. Be sure and get a cottage with a window toward the tracks so you can see without going outside.

I think they did the best they could, but it was a pretty miserable stay. Our first night we arrived to a queen bed instead of the King room we reserved. The facility is modern and clean, so we decided to just deal with the bed issue. Upon lying down about 10 pm, we heard something pop under the bed and the mattress sagged. We slept like a peanut butter and jelly fold over sandwich for that night. The next evening (as we prepare to leave the following morning), we put our suitcases on the bed and heard more popping sounds and a slat slipping from under the bed. I lifted the bed to discover and IKEA type bed frame. Which had obviously been previously broken, as there were four 2x6 blocks under the center of the bed frame. To me this indicated the proprietor patched problems instead of fixing them. They offered another room in the main lodge, but we requested a refund for the one night (haven’t received it after 3 days, so who knows??) and moved to a local brand named hotel. All in all, the ARK encounter was worth any habitation environment, but GGC didn’t make it pleasant. I hope they learn quality is expensive at first but pays off in time!

We stayed here during a trip to the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. We already knew that we should expect train traffic throughout the day and night. We brought a fan and I take melatonin on a consistent basis anyway so the train really wasn't an issue. The room was clean, staff was friendly, environment was quiet, shopping for basic needs was convenient. The only reasons for four stars are the following: the sliding barn door to the bathroom doesn't stay closed unless hooked, nightstand on only one side of the bed and the tray table that was offered was very unsteady. Overall a great place to stay!

These cottages are undoubtedly charming, but I have a very simple requirement of any overnight accommodation: it must be conducive to sleep. Depending on where you book these, it may or may not disclose that all cottages are within 100 yards of an active railroad. I booked on hotels.com and it did not disclose this important fact. We had two loud freight trains pass by in the hours between 10pm and 6am. But, this is not the primary reason for a poor review. Please keep reading. There were crickets in our room. Not outside - INSIDE the room. I killed one in the bathroom near a large gap under the baseboard where it appeared it had entered. Crickets are very loud when you are within 15 feet of one and it was impossible to sleep. Unfortunately after disposing of the first, a second one could be heard intermittently through the night. It was not outside and was instead clearly inside the structure somewhere. I traced this one to the wall cavity near the toilet and could not reach it so had to tolerate the noise through the night. Because we had booked the cottage for two nights, and our cricket issues transpired on night #1, I would have expected the property to make an exception and refund the second night when we checked out early. But they insisted on retaining 95% of the amount and issued a token $8.00 concession. This tells me a lot about the goodwill of either the owner, the managers, or both. I will not reward this type of treatment with repeat business. Other issues that made it difficult to sleep: - the mattresses are extremely soft. Some, such as my wife and I, will wake up sore. If you require a firmer sleeping surface, this probably won’t be suitable for you. - the cottage is so small that the wall-mounted A/C and heat unit is about 3 feet from one side of the bed. If it runs during the night (which it did during our stay due to the hot August temperatures) it will blow directly on at least one person in the bed. The combination of noise and direct air made it again non-conducive to sleep. - there are inexpensive mini-blinds for the windows and a curtain, but neither is particularly effective at blocking light. Blackout shades would be an inexpensive option to make the cottages more conducive to sleep. Lastly, there is really no room in the bathroom to place toiletries and no place to hang clothes inside the room except for 5-6 wall hooks. You will need to live out of your suitcase. They are tolerable for perhaps one night but really not suitable for most people if you are envisioning an extended stay. I will again restate that they are quite charming, but you may find it difficult to sleep and that remains my #1 criteria in an overnight accommodation — no matter how charming.

We were only able to stay one night. It was very clean and comfortable for a couple. Close to Ark Encounter. We actually never saw any staff at all. The train that runs across the street is a bit noisy. We ran the fan all night and slept fine.

The cottages are really cute and very clean. Unfortunately, the train tracks run right next to the property. It was really loud since the trains run all night long. The main house is very pretty and we got a free tour.

My husband and I stayed here in “ Swanky” it was quaint and cute! Close to restaurants and Dry ridge town. There is no kitchen in these but like a hotel room had the basics. Reasonable priced and close to the Ark Encounter. Not really great for families due to size.
