4 of us stayed here with our 5 horses in the paddock next door. Our rooms and the central lounge were immaculately clean, the beds are soooo comfortable with triple sheeting and high quality sheets. Strong hot showers and fluffy towels. There were so many small details that made us feel welcome. The breakfast was generous and delicious. We would all love to come back. Highly recommended and don’t forget to go to the pub for a great dinner! We could see why locals knew we would enjoy it.
Excellent service and stunning facilities. Short walk to Waipiata Hotel. Breakfast facilities and provision up to high standard. Very warm and nice relaxing lounge. Mark, the host, could not be more helpful. Food at Waipiata hotel was good and wide choice
Fantastic accommodation 5 star quality in the middle of central otago rail trail. Super comfortable and close to awesome country pub also run by super welcoming owner of tussock lodge. Felt welcome and looked after. Awsome quality breakfast at tussock lodge and great food options at pub
Arrived to a lovely appointed, beautifully presented accommodation. It had everything you needed. The host was very helpful. Highly recommend this property. Thanks very much for the stay. Peter, Martine, Bev and Graham Connor
My daughter and I were very lucky to have Tussock Lodge to ourselves after looking for accommodation at the Waipiata Tavern. The owner was so obliging and welcoming considering we just turned up. He prepared our room and heated the lodge for us while we had dinner at the Waipiata Tavern. I recommend the lamb burger by the way - gourmet and delicious. The lodge was comfortable and warm with a nice view from the upstairs living room area and a big range of breakfast cereals, etc included. The starry sky at night was wonderful.
We were a group of 8 so we booked the entire lodge. It is spacious, clean, warm and has everything you want. We all hung out together in the lounge and cooked the eggs provided for breakfast in the morning. If the weather was warmer we would have sat out on the large picnic table out the front of the property. There is a washing machine and dryer - brilliant. TV's in every bedroom and the lounge. THE BED'S WERE FANTASTIC - showers great too! Nothing bad to say
We loved our stay at the lodge. The lodge was immaculate and there was a washing machine available and drying racks. The rooms and beds (best beds on the trail) were generous and cosy, breakfast was lovely and Mark had also left us fresh eggs which were delish. A great space for relaxing and putting up feet after a day cycling. We had dinner a short walk down the road at the hotel which was amazing too. Mark was friendly and made us feel very welcome.
We loved our stay at the lodge. The rooms and beds were generous and cosy, breakfast was lovely, great space for relaxing and putting up feet after a day cycling. Food down at the hotel was amazing too - Mark runs that place too. Mark was friendly and made us feel right at home.
Our second visit to Tussock Lodge when riding the Rail Trail. We were fortunate to be the only guests so had the whole place to ourselves. Mark is an excellent host. The Waipiata Hotel served the best chicken parmigiana and chips I've ever tasted throughout NZ and Australia! It was also the biggest serve. We will definitely return!
Tussock Lodge was our last night on the Otago rail trail. We had the room designed with a bathroom for the disabled. The shower flooring had issues but that didn’t detract from our stay. A welcome bed after a long cycle on the rail trail, including curling in Naseby. We had a pleasant walk to the Waipiata hotel for a delicious dinner. The lodge was well appointed with great breakfast supplies and a ‘mini’ bar with an ‘honesty’ box system for payment. This place would be great for a family with four bedrooms with queen/king beds and also some rollaway beds.
