This Truckers motel is good value and the food was good but oh boy is it let down by the staff! However, after telling the two ladies to smile and treat me better they bucked their socks up and the rest of my stay was good. There are only two women running reception 24 hours a day which might explain but not excuse manners.
The rooms are adequate but dated and showing wear and tear but it's not meant to be a posh hotel. It's good value.
The restaurant is next door to the hotel and truckers and pilgrims eat in the bar which is pleasant enough. There's a nicer restaurant in the next room which perhaps caters for groups. I enjoyed my meal of soup, spit roast half chicken with salad and chips and you get olives & bread and cheese while you wait which is very tasty.
Breakfast was not healthy with sugary cereals and cake but there was bread and jam and cheese and ham which was adequate. I would stay again despite it all as the food was excellent.

This is our third pilgrimage (France and Italy previously) and have visited over 25 countries and we found this small family run hotel just fine. We feel the need to refute some of the comments in other reviews. Based on past pilgrimages this is pretty typical of some small family run places. We certainly did not expect an elevator in a 3 story building (we have hauled luggage up 5 and even 7 stories (Venice). The hot water took a while to work through the pipes but there was plenty and there was even adequate air conditioning. The wifi in our room was fine, but we have often had to sit in the lobby of old mason army building were signal strength is a problem. I am completely confused that anyone would expect a for-profit business to give them a discount simply because they are doing something they see as more virtuous than other guests. While the snack bar is a bit rough around the edges, the portions were generous and effort was put into the preparation. We found the ladies at reception were as helpful as their limited English allowed and even more so when I tried to communicate in my badly broken Spanish and a few words of Portuguese. Just because large numbers in the service industry speak English, try to remember that you are a guest in their country and you too have some responsibility for the communication. My one suggestion was that they use a little less disinfectant in the scrupulously clean rooms as I found it difficult to sleep because of the odour. Nonetheless, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

My husband and I are pilgrims and have stayed in this hotel for several years in the months of May and October. Often we even made reservations for small groups.
Until now, we had no reason to complain, quality-price.
I made the reservation in June/2024 and on the same day I had to make the transfer to ensure the room reservation (the only hotel during the pilgrimage that requires advance payment) in the value of 60€/single room.
I called a few days before to confirm the reservation and payment and all ok.
Upon arrival at the hotel in October/2024, at the reception they requested the payment of the room to my husband, and this without realizing that it had already been paid, made the payment again, but in the amount of 80€.
After several exchanges of emails and at a high cost, they transferred the money, but instead of transferring 80€, they only transferred 60€!
Emails here, emails there, I got the following answer:

"The information I obtained from the management is that the total amount has already been returned and since it was not a mistake of the hotel management the 20 euros cannot be returned.

No more subject for now"

They want to see that the mistake was still ours!

This story hasn’t ended yet, because I haven’t been paid 20 euros yet.

But even for 20€, I won't rest!

I personally did not like this hotel at all... breakfast was very limited and there where no clean tables to sit on. There was no wifi in the room at all and we needed to sit in the common area downstairs. There was NO DISCOUNT for a room if you walk the Camino... even do they told on the phone they did in the morning. The receptionist in the evening her english is limited to sign here... so no point in complaining about stuff.

Very unfriendly receptionist. Went out of her way to be exceptional unfriendly. Gave my wife wrong information saying we had to wait 1 hour to see if a room would be available. Had to come back to receptionist to get a wifi password.
We we're going to stay two night to rest, but now we are out at first light.
Do not stop here.

This hotel is horrible. No hot water(really) and when this to staff they do nothing. Also, no elevator to help you carry your luggage up to your room. The staff is negative and give a horrid impression for any guests.

Stay anyplace else do not stay here.

This hotel has the most unhelpful and rude reception staff in any hotel I have ever visited.
On entering the reception, she looked up but did not greet or smile, but asked for our passports to take details.
As it was 40 degrees we asked for an early breakfast box to get an early start for the day and the answer was "no".
The wifi does not work despite given the password when we requested. No fridge in room.
The afternoon reception lady was also unhelpful and unfriendly.
Stay elsewhere.
