Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Delightful, restful and quiet break. Rooms are spotless, shared sitting room is charming and owner/staff simply wonderful. Lovely breakfast, honesty bar and very rural surroundings all make this a great experience. Highly recommended and so much nicer than standard hotel offerings.

Room Tip: We were able to see all of the rooms as it was "off season". Not a bad room did we see.

We stayed one night at the Casa do Alfaro after a long and incredibly hot day on the Caminho. The house is immaculately clean, the rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. The staff are charming and the setting is beautiful and tranquil. Would definitely come back. Great value too.

If you are looking for quiet and some luxury along the Camino Portuguese, Casa do Alfaro offers that and a lot more.

It's family run by a husband and wife team. And grandma is running around too. (She's nice and can even speak some English!)

It has a picturesque pool surrounded by well manicured grass with sun shades and chairs--giving the weary traveler a place to sit down and relax.

Not to mention the airy parlor rooms, game areas, balconies and more. The large dining room is beautiful and grand. They have an open bar too. Grab a drink or two.

And the rooms themselves marvel any luxury hotel I've seen. It's big, with lots of places to store your things. Nothing worse than tripping over your bags.

The towels and the bed are just so worth it. I had already eaten a big lunch but the dinner I saw another guest eat, looked delicious.

The internet is spotty. It works for an hour or so then hangs but this seems to be the standard in Portugal.

I didn't realize how far out of town this was (four miles) and sprung for a taxi to get me here. But I'm glad I did it because it's worth it!!

Breakfast is included. I'd come back again!

I absolutely loved this place. The house is nicely decorated inside and outside. Very quiet countryside felling. Rosalinho the caretaker lady is fabulous. We were on half board and she cooked dinner for us and did everything she could to make our stay pleasant. Really would like to go back one day and spend more days there.
