The manor house at Quinta da Lapa is nearly 300 years old, it was restred anew while keeping it's original architectural features. The estate produces craft wines in the wine region that's known as Tejo. It has 11 suites with complete bathrooms, a grand dining room, state rooms and lounges, a chapel and a party hall. The house is built around a big rectangular inner court with an imposing tri-centennial tree in the middle. Quinta da Lapa is located 67 km north of Lisbon Airport and just 24 km away from Santarem, the gothic capital of Portugal. You can stroll around the fields, use the pool house amid the vineyards, visit the winery, taste wines, visit other estates in the area, or simply relax in the quietness and privacy of the inner court.

We were lucky enough to be able to participate in a wine tasting at Quinta da Lapa, wines that we already appreciated elsewhere. We were not disappointed: the 11 wines tasted were all good. A big thank you to Eduardo and José.
The few boxes ordered of 4 different grape varieties were delivered to our home within 8 days.

This place is absolutely fabulous. If you have a vehicle and are looking to visit some places north of Lisbon (Óbidos, Nazaré, Tomar, Bacalhôa Buddha Eden, etc.), this winery is a wonderful, quiet place to stay for a few days.

The rooms were spacious and immaculately clean. The buildings on the property and the vineyards are beautiful. Walking on the dirt roads by the vineyards at dawn and dusk was spectacular. The common areas of the winery open to guests were huge and wonderful places to gather in the evenings. Breakfast was included each morning, and there were numerous options served to us in a gorgeous formal dining area—what a treat. Additionally, we opted to pay for dinner on two of our nights at the winery, and the food and wine could not have been better. The whole experience of this place was beyond any expectations that we had. Thank you, Isabel! You catered to our every need.

Be sure and say yes to the winery tour and tasting—it was very informative, and our host Eduardo was utterly charming. Oh, and the wines we sampled were so good! We enjoyed that afternoon immensely.

We’ll definitely be back!

An unexpected peace of haven. A beautiful, well maintained quinta, surrounded by 100 hectares of land and vineyards. And to top it all, the most loveable and lovely host os there to welcome you. Makes you almost believe you arrived in heaven. Thank you Isabel for this 6 star stay. We will drink the wine and think back of Quinta da Lapa.

This hotel was literally a nightmare for us…my son calls it “The Shining.” We arrived there on a Saturday with high expectations, as I was sure that I had discovered a hidden gem! It was our last night in Portugal and I was so excited to experience a local winery. Instead of a vibrant place, we found one overworked employee and a creepy place devoid of charm or warmth. We did not see one other guest, and my son was sure that the housekeeper was going to kill us in our sleep… yes, a bit exaggerated, but we decided that the only way for this place to be successful would be to bill itself as haunted. On top of everything else, we were charged $180 booking directly, and it was $122 on booking.com (my fault for trusting that booking directly was the best). This experience was by far the worst that we had in Portugal. The place has so much potential, but fell short in every way. It was a horrible night and I hate the feeling of being scammed!

Two "steps" north of Lisbon in Ribatejo region we meet this wonderful place Quinta da Lapa (Est. 1733). The property is large with unique landscapes and the vineyards are beautiful with elegant inflections that stretch gentle over the sunny hills. At the farm is waiting you 11 rooms in an elegant enoturistic complex, which perfectly combines the passion for wine with ancient art decorative elements. Each room is named after a grape variety grown in Quinta da Lapa. Ask for Arinto or Touriga Nacional room and I'm sure you will not disappointed at all. About the food and the wine al Quinta da Lapa can say just a word: Excellent !

We were here on a wine tour and it was fantastic. The rooms are nicely done and the property was pristine. To be surrounded by vineyard was a dream. The rooms are spacious and modern. I really liked the bathroom. The dinner was very great and tasty and complemented the wines. I can almost imagine my wedding being held here!

(Was here in 2014, not 2016...)

We had the most fantastic tour of this small, lovely vineyard just outside Lisbon. We were shown around by Carla who was charming, informative and so helpful. We didn't stay the night but wished we had as the house is elegant and the rooms gorgeous. We were given a delicious lunch, cooked by the gorgeous Isabelle and accompanied by lots of delicious wine.
If you are in Lisbon and looking for a peaceful day out this would be a really lovely thing to do.

We arrived late afternoon at the remote winery country estate an hour from Sintra and on the way to Coimbra. What a great place to stay and it really was a highlight showing the beauty of Portugal and its wine! They guided us through the winery into a beautiful wooden gated courtyard and showed us our lovely room with immaculate private bathroom. The view of the vineyards was to die for, as well as the wine. Unfortunately there is no restaurant there, and we were recommended to try a fine dining restaurant that was a 15 minute drive away. We decided instead to head to the little village 5 minutes away where we enjoyed a beer and shared a slice of pizza and chorizo roll in the local pub. The old historic Palace in the little village was neat to see with the birds’ nests in the clock tower and various pedestals. On the way back we picked up some cheese and crackers at a little grocer, and enjoyed a glass of delicious Lapa wine in the courtyard outside our room. Now that to me is Portugal.

We expected wines and were not disappointed by the selection and quality. The Syrah was my favourite but the sparkling wine and Nana are popular for good reason. The Quinta buildings and estate are beautiful. Rooms are spacious, light and airy and sympathetically restored to a high standard. Room rates are good value and the dining experiences from breakfast to dinner were a social event not to be missed. We see the appeal of a night, wine tasting or even a wedding. We had the Merlot room.

Thanks to Isabel we had the best start of our holiday in Portugal.
Lots of luxurious space, cool rooms and a beautiful view, but the best are the red wines !
Delicious red wines and not expensive at all.
Go there and buy a box (or two ;-) )
