Deep in the centre of Aotearoa's North Island, right in the middle of nowhere, is a very special place. The Timber Trail Lodge is set in the middle of a renowned conservation park featuring huge podocarp trees and rare birds, and is the only on-trail accommodation for the 84km Timber Trail cycle way. The off-grid, full service lodge opened in April 2017, sleeping 50 with a mix of double/twin and triple rooms. Some rooms have shared ablutions, whilst bedrooms in the second wing have en-suite bathrooms. The lodge has been designed so guests can experience sustainability in practice, and leave with a greater appreciation of minimising impacts and protecting natural environments. Guests enjoy healthy, nutritious meals with a focus on tasty, natural ingredients, in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Inclusive packages and group deals available.

We greatly enjoyed our experience organised through the Timber Trail Lodge. The commentary on the shuttle ride was very informative - we appreciated our surroundings even more. The Lodge itself is positioned centrally of the two day ride and was a relaxing oasis at the end of the first day. Facilities were excellent with a cycle battery charge station, a drying room, and our rooms were very clean (thickest towels ever!) with a small deck outside to enjoy the surroundings. The food was delicious (and seconds available if wanted). The staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

After a bit of rain on the trail it was great to be able to shower, eat good food and relax in the very comfortable lodge. The cost is pretty reasonable given the remote location and three meals supplied.

Very comfortable, well organised and relaxed. Very much enjoyed our stay and happy to recommend it to anyone. We stayed in an ensuite room with Queen bed, room was large and airy and had everything we needed.

Super well organised, great accommodation and super friendly and helpful staff. They catered extremely well for dietary requirements. The accommodation was great and the beds were really comfortable. All communications were prompt and friendly. We had the best time and would highly recommend. Loved everything about our trip.

Fantastic location amongst the forest, very peaceful with great views. Staff were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Great food, comfy bed and the packed lunch for day 2 most appreciated. Great to mix with other bikers.

Thanks Timber lodge for accommodating us over two nights. The food was outstanding service was amazing , great atmosphere. The lodge is lovely and clean. We had a wonderful few days away. The weather gods looked after us and we had a dry ride , the track is very well maintained and a pleasure to ride ..

This is a must do adventure for any e biker seeking challenge native NZ forest vistas and being treated like royalty by the staff snd facilities in the middle of Pureora Forest. There were stories from our shuttle drivers and a korero fromRussell as we ate a delicious dinner on the second night. All I all a memorable and satisfying two days

This without doubt the best lodge of its type we have ever stayed at - staff, food, bed, shower - everything. There was a roaring fire going at the end of the day which was much appreciated as we had experienced a somewhat wet first day on the trail. The drying room was really helpful for us as well.

The Timber Trail Lodge Team provided us with a real home away from home. Fantastically friendly and helpful. The Lodge itself was very comfortable, and clean, and great meals. at the end of a days riding made for a great relaxing evening. Cannot recommend them enough- if you are going to ride the Timber trail- please support the Lodge- they are doing a great, environmentally sensitive job.
