#1 of 2 Speciality lodging in Pureora Forest Park
Travellers' Choice
Deep in the centre of Aotearoa's North Island, right in the middle of nowhere, is a very special place. The Timber Trail Lodge is set in the middle of a renowned conservation park featuring huge podocarp trees and rare birds, and is the only on-trail accommodation for the 84km Timber Trail cycle way. The off-grid, full service lodge opened in April 2017, sleeping 50 with a mix of double/twin and triple rooms. Some rooms have shared ablutions, whilst bedrooms in the second wing have en-suite bathrooms. The lodge has been designed so guests can experience sustainability in practice, and leave with a greater appreciation of minimising impacts and protecting natural environments. Guests enjoy healthy, nutritious meals with a focus on tasty, natural ingredients, in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Inclusive packages and group deals available.

Great location to stay on the Timber Trail. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the food was very good. Lovely deck to relax with a drink after a good days ride. Good local information from all staff members. Also some nice walks close to the lodge

Second time staying and the quality, friendliness, cleanliness and overall feel / vibe of our stay was again fantastic. Small details were great with attention to bike "stuff" - wash down, bike battery charging points (for those who need them!) tools, drying room etc. Beds very comfortable too ! And the staff, different to my stay 4 years ago, were just so friendly, helpful and very efficient. Really cannot fault any aspect. Thank you to all at the Lodge - superb !

We arrived late, hungry and with no reservation. The restaurant was at capacity but the host went out of her way to find a spot for us and fed us some amazing pizzas. What a reward after a day on the trail. Absolutely recommended and thank you to the amazing host!

We took a large group to run the timber trail and staying at the lodge was absolutely perfect. Incredible location, friendly, knowledgeable staff and good wholesome food. Very easy to organise with their own shuttle service and bag transfer

The service from start to finish was amazing, the staff friendly and inviting and accommodation and food top notch. Definitely advise you get full suspension electric bike and recommend you invest padded gel pants! We'll be coming back with the kids.
