Detailed Reviews
I recently had a 1 night solo stay here while passing through South Bend on my way to New York, and then another 1 night stay on my way back. Both stays were excellent. I have mobility issues, so I stay in a handicapped accessible room. I had different rooms on each stay, but both rooms were equally as nice. The beds were very comfortable and I appreciated that they had risers which made them easier for me to stand up from. They also had really nice pillows, a selection of soft and firm. Their bath rooms were large and clean, and the roll in showers were a dream. Due to covid, breakfast was kind of disappointing with all cold grab and go offerings, but this was to try to stop the disease spread. The location was convenient to the highway, and to many eating establishments. The neighborhood felt safe enough.

Checked in on Thursday and checked out Sunday for an ND game. The room was never cleaned, beds never made and supplies never refurbished ( towels, coffee cups, soap, etc) the entire stay. When asked they stated we only come in every third day unless requested. We requested and nothing happened except piled up garbage and dirty towels. We finally got our own supplies for the stay. If there was a manager they must work remotely because they were never there. Each morning the scraps/remains of the previous nights popcorn and cookie table were still there. We had an early flight and left at 6am… there was coffee made and the breakfast area nicely stocked so I grabbed coffee and two muffins and was barked at “ breakfast starts at 7:00 - if people start early I will be playing catch up all day. “ I smiled and said good morning, poured coffee and had a muffin.
I was going to grab a glass of wine at the small bar in the lobby when we arrived, but the person at the desk said she was not authorized and they never know if the bartender will show up. Buyer beware and it’s not cheap on game weekends.

I've stayed at Springhill Suites many times for business and family travel. This one needs some improvement in the intangibles. The hotel and its furnishings were nice enough and comfortable. The hotel completely missed it on the human touches. We arrived late after an all day drive and just wanted to go to bed. One of my children slept on the sofa. The sign said linens were in the closet. That consisted of a blanket and two pillows without pillow cases. The door to the bath is frosted glass. Whenever the bathroom light was on it lit up the entire room. The breakfast was very thin and disappointing.

SpringHill Suites Brings a Modern Touch!!!
I stayed at this Springhill Suites location during a recent visit to the South Bend area for business. SpringHill Suites is a newer brand from the Marriot group, adding elegance and modern amenities with a modern flair. I booked this hotel through the Marriot Bonvoy app as it was in the same price range as hotels in a similar vertical. Check-in was seamless and quick and my keys were already prepared for me ahead of time.
The entrance and the spaces near the entrance are very well lit, and there is plenty of room for people to gather and hang out or for people to lounge and relax. The pool and fitness center were open but only accessible by a 'special' key. Only one person at a time was allowed in the fitness center at a time. I was okay as I was the only person who inquired about the fitness center and got in a workout with no issues. The workout area has newer cardio machines and free weights, and you have access to mats, balls and other equipment to work out.
The room was clean and spacious and came with a great supply of USB ports and electrical outlets so I had no issues plugging all of my devices. During my stay, the wifi signal was very good, and I had no issues connecting. The bed, the furniture and the decor were very modern and comfortable. The TV had many options including cable and access to your streaming services like NetFlix, Amazon Prime etc. The bed was very comfortable and I did get a good night's sleep. The washroom was clean and had the usual toiletries included soaps, shampoos and conditioner. The only thing I noticed that stood out was that the previous occupants' soap and shampoo were still in the bathtub when I looked. I just left them there and didn't touch them.
The Breakfast is an American Buffet Style with many hot and cold options. On any given day you find bacon, eggs, sausage and other hot items. Breads, cereals, and pastries are abundant and there is a coffee station with cream, milk and coffee mate-style accoutrements. Fresh fruit was also available with a wide range of offerings.
Overall this was good stay with no issues. This hotel is newer and has many modern touches that separate it from some of the older hotel brands. If you're looking for those modern touches, this hotel may be right for you.

Very dirty. I’d fire the whole housekeeping staff. The first room they put is in wasn’t even clean. There were chip rings and spills in the desk and night stands. There was still water in the ice bucket from someone else. It wasn’t even vacuumed. The front desk lady didn’t even apologize just demanded to know how we knew it was dirty. Then she moved us upstairs where it was a little cleaner but clearly they didn’t vacuum regularly. The second room wasn’t vacuumed. Neither were the hallways and the elevator was filthy too. We will not be back.

Jason was amazing and the only good part about our stay. He provided great customer service but when he left everything went downhill. Everything in our room was unplugged. TV, phone.. we got it figured out but then it was 74 in the room which was too warm for us and we flipped the fan/air on only for it to get warmer all night. Worst night of sleep ever. Woke up to it being 77 in the room. Was told maintenance had the day off.
Kids enjoyed pool, very small but we had it to ourselves and loved it. Breakfast was not good, no one was refilling the food and it was almost empty.
Thank you Jason for your outstanding service, just wish our room was as good as your service!

Stayed here for a week, and i could not get them to clean my room or switch out the towels once. After day 5, the room stunk because I had a weeks worth of garbage piled up with no where for it to go. i had to buy an air freshener just to stay in the room. I went to the front desk 3 separate times asking for my room to be cleaned the next day and it would never happen. Service is as bad as the garbage piled in my room.

I stayed in the very same room the month before and the toilet paper holder was barely on the wall at that time. When I checked in this time it was laying on the floor. I also told them I had no body wash and they never filled it. This is a newer hotel and should be spotless, but this is definitely not the case. It is getting run down very fast and is very poorly managed. I have checked in more than once and no one is at the front desk and no one answers the phone and just had to wait till someone showed up.

The room is very thought out for the traveler. Because of Covid-19 usual amenities are not in the room but you can ask for it. Cups, pen, scratch pad, TV guide to the channels, etc. The couch in the King Room is very uncomfortable to sit. No pillows on the couch to support you. The only other seating was the desk chair. The plug under the Stationery TV does not work, woke up to my cell phone not charged.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the staff person. He was courteous, considerate and welcoming. Cool dude👍🏾Our room was very nice and clean, which we appreciated. The beds were also nice and comfortable. My complaints were the following: a couple of stains on the sofa, a strand of hair in the shower (not a pubic hair) but probably a hair that had fallen from the housekeeper’s head, a “squeaky” clean floor that was sticky from the soap film and an odd smell that was not present initially but seemed to have been from someone smoking or vaping and the odor traveled through the vent. My other two problems were that the pool was out of service because of a party the night before and no meat at breakfast time. One of the reason that we chose the hotel was so that my children could swim. Needless to say, they were disappointed. I was disappointed because in my opinion, I’m not having a good or complete breakfast without meat. Other than that, the morning staff person was also helpful and accommodating. I would stay again, but next time I expect to have meat at breakfast, a working pool and a stain free sofa.
