Detailed Reviews
Gals at the front desk were friendly & helpful. I was on a 1600 mi trip w/3 dogs and it was nice to stay someplace where they don't ding you another $20+ per dog !!! Granted, this particular RRI property is a little rough around the edges, but adequate for a quick overnight. For example, the microwave didn't have the glass plate, the wood grained laminate flooring was oddly stained w/something white (maybe glue?) the windows were dirty & screen had a tear in it, curtains need to be replaced and I wouldn't dream of walking around the room barefooted as I doubt it would pass the white-sock test. Pillows need to be replaced but bed was comfortable, sheets & towels were clean. If you're looking for amenities, look elsewhere. If you're not expecting much you won't be disappointed. Let's put it this way, if I were traveling with my mother I'd pay more & stay somewhere else. But for myself, under the circumstances it was good enough for one night. Definitely ask to see your room first if you have any doubts.

The hotel is tucked away among a strip of restaurants and gas stations near the IN/OH border. We found some ants in our room and much of the room just felt moist. The internal hallways were a bit shabby.
The lobby was difficult to find (I get the impression that the old lobby was in an abandoned building towards the front of the property).
In a lot of cases, I can justify staying at a slightly worn hotel like this one if it's significantly cheaper than surrounding hotels or the only place to stay in 50 miles. I'm not sure either applies to the Red Roof in Richmond.

Signage makes lobby very difficult to find after dark. Inadequate snow removal for parking and blocked sidewalks. No water for Redi Card Members even though they are right next to Meijers. No ice bucket or glasses in room and front desk person couldn’t get one. Stained sheets. Requested wake up call came 1 hour earlier than requested. Morning front desk person non-responsive to my complaints

Dear Patricia Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at our hotel. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations. I believe when you spoke to me at the desk I did apologize for not having a bottle of water for you. I had just ran out the day before and had not had the chance to get more yet. We didn't speak about the snow removal but we had been working on it for several days. We had gotten a lot of snow and unfortunately that side of the building gets little sunshine. I do hope you found your room clean and the bed comfortable which is what we focus on so our guests can have a restful nights sleep. Please know that we value you as our guest and appreciate your business. Thank you for sharing your concerns and I hope you will give us the opportunity to better serve you at Red Roof the next time your travel plans require lodging. Very truly yours, Julie Wisecup GM Red Roof Inn - Red Roof Inn, Richmond #938 i0938@redroof.com

Absolutely disgusting dump. Spend $40. more and stay at the Fairfield or the Hampton in a few miles down the highway. We had stayed here about three years ago and it wasn't nearly as bad. Housekeeping needs to learn how to clean! There was what I'm guessing is soda on the walls, hair and shampoo in the bathtub. I doubt the toilet was cleaned. Same dirt in the corridors this morning as when we arrived last night. Shopping carts outside the back door. Derelict cars in the parking lot. I asked about it and was told it is a residents. They have people living here.

I forgot my pillow prescribed by my doctor in a light purple pillowcase. They could not find it. Manager Rosemary thought they might have given it to someone else but I doubt it without a description on their part. The other hotel I stayed said they would have mailed it to me. I think one of their employees probably took it and she had to protect them. I will never stay again at any Red Roof Inn. If I stayed 2 nights, I would not feel my belongings would be safe.

Dear Martinez Family Please accept my apologies for your room not being in rentable order. Did you contact the Front Desk about this issue? It sounds as if you were given a room not cleaned yet by accident. This should never happen, unfortunately, it does sometimes by just human error. You booked your room through Priceline, if they are willing to give you a refund I will authorize it. I truly am sorry and I would really like to make it right for you. I also would like to offer you a free room the next time you are through the area to stay at our hotel once again so we can give you a much better experience. I do hope to be able to make this right for you and I hope you have a wonderful New Year! Kind Regards Julie Wisecup, GM Red Roof Inn, Richmond

My husband and I stayed for one night on the way home from our trip. It was also the cheapest of our whole trip at only $50 with taxes and fees included. We had no issues checking in. They do not have breakfast in the morning. The room's door did not work well. We also had trouble finding the driveway at night from the road. They had a super comfortable bed. For the price, my husband and I were pleased.

Booked for 5 nights and unfortunately have 3 more to go. The rooms are of good size and basic which we could live with if it was clean. The floor is sticky under foot and filthy. I spilled some water and dried it with a wad of tissue and was horrified at the filth that came off. So far every day we have had an issue with bath towels. From not being left any to being left ones that are horribly stained. The beds are “made” but without straightening sheets. The carpet in the room has not been hoovered since we checked in. The stairway up to the rooms needs a good hoovering. Not a good first impression. The rooms were cheap - but that shouldn’t reflect the cleanliness! Not recommended.
