Terrible disgusting dirty in the campground (kitchen, toilets, garden with rubbish and old tired). Without WiFi. In the camp living some people which walking there drinkem during a night. We paid 20 NZD per person for tento !!! - the same price like in nice clean holidaypark with pools, playground, electric and WiFi.

Firstly I would not recommend my dog to stay at the so called “lodge” The place was tired and old (not up to standards it would not pass as a 1 star hotel) the photos displayed on booking.com is not how the place looks it is old and run down! I've stayed in hundreds of hotels and lodges all over the world, and this was the single worst lodge experience I've ever had. Located next to a highway and cemetery which is not mentioned. The staff where rude and the overall area was extremely dodgy it felt unsafe due to the unsavoury characters hanging around. I noticed there was black mould growing on the ceiling in the shower and on the shower curtains. All of the furniture looked like it was from 1960 and I doubt that they have ever been washed a single time. The establishment clearly does not know what a “Lodge” is. The establishment clearly does not understand the basic standard required for a guest to stay at. The outside of the lodge had stuff everywhere there were old boats and cars scattered around the entrance. Once I had walked in looked at the room I walked out the front to speak to the manger who was smoking out the front and that was it I gave the key back and said I was unable to stay here. I have not received a refund.

Small but suitable place to stay, friendly staff and helpful. Bit noisy from the road, door stuck but friendly site. Basics but it looked after our family. Good shop available. Comfy beds. Cheap and affordable for the cost it was suitable.

Dont be fooled by the pictures on booking sites. This "establishment" is completely run down. The main room is less than a meter from A1 highway meaning when traffic zooms past the room and glass luvers shake and rattle. The establishment advertising makes out it is looking out over Lake Taupo it is not it us seperated by a highway and overlooks a cemetery none of this is portrayed in the advertising. There were a number of unsavoury characters hanging around the establishment making me feel unsafe and intimidated. It is also quite a distance from Taupo. For the money you can to far better else where.

Older place recently tidied up. Chalet of 1queen bed 2 single beds, shower toilet and kitchen, although really old oven, is good value for a small family. As it is on the major South road it is noisy at night, not for light sleepers.

Caravan park review. The owner has just installed new single room huts. So new that the carpet had the new smell about it. It was very nice with coffee making stuff a small sofa. I am sure the owners are proud of these. If this is the plans for the small campsite it will be great in a few years. But now is a work in progress. The toilet block had just had a new coat of paint and was fine as a stop gap but modernisation is needed. Kitchen area and laundry are really in need of some work. I am surprised at how few reviews the place has as it was full for the weekend we stayed.

It is very conveniently located between Tongariro National Park and Taupo and is a good value for the location. The staff were helpful in getting us checked in and being available to answer questions. Having laundry facilities was great, but with only one washer and dryer, we made many many trips to catch it when it was free.

I last stayed at this lovely campsite some 20 yrs ago and it is so refreshing to see somethings dont change ! Still the rustic beautifull place i remembered and just to walk the river and have the lake just over the road is amazing ! Some of the finest sunsets glimmering over the water you will ever see ! Give it a go ! You will be blown away, just please don,t expect mod cons, this is how it should be !!!

The rooms were dirty and noisy. We had drunk campers right next to our bedroom window, swearing loudly for most of the night. This place boasts "new owners" but this seems to have made little difference to the upkeep.
