My Partner and I stayed at Freshwater Plantation from the 8th to the 12th of Jan. Wish we stayed longer. The bungalow was clean and spacious looking over the water and your own little beach. Plenty of air flow also meant never got overwhelmed with the tropical heat. The staff were incredible actively making sure everything was amazing for us. They have a private boat available for transfers to the mainland. The snorkelling just below the bungalow was incredible with so much fish life. The restaurant also was amazing including local dishes not seen in any other restaurant. The owner is also well connected within the local community and provided and helped organize day trips and activities like diving and car hire. We wouldn't stay anywhere else if we come back. We spent three nights staying in the waterfront bungalow at Freshwater Plantation. It’s a lovely thatched bungalow with a gorgeous balcony and views over the water and the only guest accommodation at the plantation which made it lovely and quiet. The staff are great and breakfast (included) was prepared for us every morning in the restaurant. We enjoyed walking in the grounds of the beautiful organic farm before the day guests arrived for tours, meeting the goats and chatting to the local staff. Klaas the owner was so welcoming, really looks after his guests and team and has an excellent knowledge of Aore Island. Nothing was too much trouble for him and his team, picks up and boat transfers were included and could be arranged at the drop of a hat. We ate lunch and dinner in the restaurant most days but it is easy to arrange a trip out to other restaurants in town or on the island too.
