Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good sized room with comfortable king bed. Good water pressure in shower. Clean, neat and tidy for a one-night stay. Victorian feel around the hotel. There is a bar downstairs so not sure on the noise levels through the evening as we were at a wedding, but location was quiet from when we returned and had a great sleep with no disruptions. I would stay again.

This is a lovely old pub that has had a tasteful refurbishment. All the charming old architectural features have been preserved but it is comfortable and convenient. Great aircon, good shower, spa bath, comfy bed, good wifi. Receptionist was friendly and very helpful. Bar staff ok. Don’t use restaurant attached , Elsies. It is not great, hard dry old chicken, sticky tables, had to ask to be served.

A one nite stay and missing out in hamilton accomodation, led my family of four to Tuakau. This was a surprisingly pleasant stay with a refurbished unit. The takeaways which were a step away also was surprising for a nice mix of chinese fish and chips and seafood.

Described as a boutique hotel I thought we would try this for 2 nights instead of staying closer to our destination. The rooms are acceptable and ordinary with out of date information in the folder. The food in the restaurant was quite acceptable but absolutely no atmosphere in there. The bar had lovely comfy couches, a great fire place (unlit) but there is a TAB and Poke room which does not fit a boutique hotel. The locals use it as a bar and the language left a lot to be desired. Both nights (a weekend) there was a security chap with a stab best patrolling the bar and restaurant. Not the place for a family or couples to enjoy.

We stayed here for one night on a long trip from Wellington on our way to Bay of Islands. The rooms had recently been renovated and were beautiful. The whole building has been lovingly done. We had a rental furniture truck and felt safe leaving the truck in the carpark

Would have given 5 stars however, was a little noisy on the Friday night. Overall great stay though. Would stay again. Very close to takeaways, food stores, dairy, bar and restaurant downstairs, liquor store close by.

We love the Tuakau Hotel. Its location is perfect for pukekohe as well. The restaurant and bar have a great selection of food and drinks. The rooms are lovely and spacious with great king beds and the bathrooms are large as well

Fabulous fresh fish and chips at their restaurant Elsies. Toss up between that , the seafood chowder and the Sunday roast. They even have gold card specials. You can sit inside or on the verandah.

A wonderful drive down from Auckland. Well worth a visit!

The location is ideal if you are in the Pukekhoe area working which I was.

Hotel is clean and does the job and the village has several food options as well.
Overall it does the job for a traveller on the move
