This is definitely not a sleeping on a bench motel. The staff was friendly and the place is family run. Our room was large and clean with fresh linens and a large TV with remote. The motel is in a safe neighborhood with a lot of restaurants and shopping malls. It is between O'Hare Airport and downtown Chicago with public transportation out front. We were pleasantly surprised and will come back.

well, you can stay at the 279$ a night doubletree... or you can endure the lpMotel for a night @ 65$. ignore what the hotel/motel critics/experts here are saying about what this lpMotel "should be" doing... although their descriptives about personnel and rooms are pretty much spot on. yep. this place is stuck in the 60s... but so??

the novelty of a retro-motel is engaging. the fixtures, yes, could use an update, the carpeting definitely requires some steam cleaning, the wi-fi connection needs very major help, and dont even think about a wide-screen tv.... there are no key cards; you get actual room door-Keys! ok, the front office could stand some "p.r." training... maybe could throw a little eye-contact and a smile your way... but the place is what it is, quite rough around the edges --and yes could use a wash-down in many places... but the front desk, "Polish" or not, does not force you to sign-in or stay.

So, dont let the ragged "amenities" get to you... bunk down for a quiet overnight or two... and at least enjoy the over-load of excellent (21st century) nearby shopping and restaurant locations.

.... // oh, yeah. you can always check-into the spotless marriott, 10 minutes away, for 190 bucks....

I stayed one night on the second floor on a Saturday in November. For those traveling to Chicago their is probably little reason to choose LP, unless they are traveling by car.

You can get decent prices at large Chicago hotels, but the parking fees are notoriously high.

L.P. is build in the mid-century motel style of two floors of rooms facing a parking lot. The room was rather larger, the fixtures somewhat dated, but the room was meticulously cleaned. The neighborhood is dominated by Polish immigrants and was quiet at night and there are numerous dining and convenience options all around, including a DENNYS in the adjoining parking lot.

The amenities are somewhat bare-bones (no shampoo for instance) but the water pressure was excellent in the shower and the water was instantly hot.

The hotel is located 1 mile from the JFK expressway, so again, it is perfect for the motoring tourist at a fair price with free parking.

The rooms are like walking into the past. Everything is outdated. The wifi doesnt work at all and the length of the pass word is ridiculous. Customer service is obviously something they dont care about. The maids dont change the sheets on the bed, dont wipe down anything, and dont wanna clean period. The maid complained that my room was dirty because of a few crumbs on the floor and she did not want to do her job. For a majority of the day I seen the sizedmaids sitting outside smoking in there little set up they have at the end of the building. They stat quren size beds but there only full sized beds. Everyone who works here is lazy and have horrible attitudes and the owner is blind to it maybe because there all Polish. This is the type of place you bring a prostitute to. Will never stay again and I advise everyone to stay away.

Once again I drove to Chicago and spend the night at the LP, with free parking. The rooms are quite large, there is an excellent variety of TV channels and the bathroom is easily the cleanest I have ever seen in a hotel and I've stayed all over the world. Despite being next to a major road the nights are quiet, no noise from either neighbors or street.

The rooms are getting a bit old, and could due with a bit of a re-hab, but the neighborhood offers every variety of store and dining within just a few walking blocks.

An excellent option for the budget traveler. One day they will probably sell the property to a big hotel franchise and the price will double or triple.

When you are traveling for hours, you just want to find a nice warm clean bed to relax.

This motel can certainly use a "makeover." I have never understood why owners don't invest in making there property more upscale. Nobody said to have Versace satin sheets, but geez, invest in a nice floor and modern lamps/mirrors/bathroom
Fixtures. To make money, and have repeat business you also need to SPEND some money.

For the average Joe $60 a day IS a good amount of money, but this place could have offered more.

Investing in a coffee machine in each room would be a lovely idea...a little coffee maker makes a difference. A built in hair dryer in the wall would have also been a thoughtful idea. Mini shampoo and conditioners would have also been nice if they were available.

This hotel needs more professional staff.

started going to this motel a while back and ever since ive enjoyed the visits. Not your average 4 star hotel but ive never had a problem there. yes, maybe the carpet doesnt match the drapes but it sure is clean and spacious. TV might be old but who cares. it hasnt failed me. Def recommend if you need to stay for a few days. you got the mall a block away , grocery and breakfast next door and the store in front.
