Located in a non-touristy Spanish town near the motorway to Alicante (1 hour drive), Murcia (1/2 hour drive) and the airports there. To the coast is 40 min drive. The hotel is a restored palace (see its leaflet) in a quiet area of the commercial and historical center.
It is the only 4-star hotel in the city. It lacks the glamour of luxury (beach) hotels but meets the classic wishes of travelers. The region has no mass tourism, in the hotel the pace is therefore relax. It is also not crowded; a plus for late bookers. The prices are therefore attractive. We took a double room with breakfast and dinner (a catered three-course meal on the terrace, in peace) for a more than reasonable price (in similar tourist hotels what we paid is comparable to the price of an overnight stay without breakfast). It will be our stopover from our future Trips to the Costa del Sol.

We booked this hotel for a family of 4 as a 'get away from the beach and tourists' break. 3 nights for €237, no breakfast, seemed very reasonable. I was concerned after reading the reviews but pleasantly surprised when we got to the hotel. The entrance hall is spectacular and really tastefully restored. Not difficult to find either, views of the Cathedral kind of give its location away. The rooms were spacious and nicely done. Just a hint of tiredness here and there but not bad at this price. Parking at €18 per day seemed steep so I drove 5 mins and found some free spaces near Lidl and Consum Supermarkets. Most parking on the streets was free from Saturday afternoon so I moved the car closer next day. We ate breakfast at local Cafes for €2 each. I thought €10 at the hotel a bit steep and don't tend to eat a big breakfast anyway. Perhaps a cheaper Continental breakfast at the Hotel should be offered? We used Trip Adviser to eat out and had some lovely meals at great prices. Saturday night there was a wedding reception but the dreaded noise wasn't too bad. We were on the 4th floor, rooms 412 & 413 which face the back of the hotel and we only had guest doors slamming at 3am at the worst. Nothing the hotel can do about inconsiderate guests. Strangely my own door started slamming at 8am next morning which caused me to speak in a loud voice in the corridor. Wierd!
We tried the hotel bar and were pleasantly surprised at the reasonably priced drinks; about €2 for a glass of wine or beer.
All in all a nice hotel at a great price.

Good location in the centre of town. You can pay for nearby parking or for a 5-10 minute walk, free parking. Ambience of the hotel excellent, rooms spacious and well equipped, lovely hot water and warm air for the winter months. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Good, varied choice for the breakfasts and the attached restaurant also good value for money . Hotel-wise, a wonderful experience. Not the hotel's fault, but I wish the town hall would turn off the cathedral/church bells that continued to sound on the hour throughout the night.

The worst customer service experience I have ever received for a 4 star hotel. I reserved the master suite for three nights for my wedding and my room lost power twice including the morning of my wedding) the electricity was working in the other rooms). The receptionist spoke awfully to me when I expressed concerns about not being able to get ready for my wedding. I was spoken to very badly upon checking out despite having paid for a master suite for 3 nights without full electricity. If you do not know how to work in customer service and provide a positive experience for your guests, don’t work at a hotel.

Stayed here 15/11/22 as we were going to a show at a rock club.
This is a lovely hotel with helpful staff.
We also had a meal at the hotel which was beautiful.
The town of Orihuela is stunning. I can’t wait to return and I’ll definitely book this hotel again,
Muchas gracias

Hotel was fine, nicely situated for a walk around the city. Parking was only mentioned as we left so unsure of availability of a car park? We managed to find a space nearby but probably because it was late Saturday afternoon. Lovely young man in Cafe/Bar but both he and the woman on duty were not well informed about the menu. I sent back the mussels as they were Luke warm and sloshing about in a tasteless clear liquid which wa supposed to be Thai. When it was delivered to the table I asked if it was Thai both shook their heads and went back to the kitchen to ask. It certainly did not taste like Thai or anything other than warm water. My husbands burger was bland. Breakfast was a disinter. The breakfast room when we found it was full with a couple of empty tables from exiting guests. The waiter looked at us brushed past us and disappeared for 5/10 minutes leaving us standing waiting. After another couple and their son came in they too were waiting. My husband went to Reception to ask if someone could attend to the Breakfast Room. The Receptionist rang the waiter who returned a couple of minutes later in a huff! Has slammed the dishes down as he started to clear the tables and brushed the crumbs and remnant of breakfast from previous guests on to me and my husband. After seeing my husbands face he apologised! There was virtually no food left and we had to find our own plates etc., it was a shambles.
It's a pity because it ruined our stay and we won't return. Unfortunately we speak little Spanish otherwise we would have complained whilst there. We have put it down to experience but won't return.

Very nice hotel in the middle of the historic city of Orihuela, home of the poet Miguel Hernandez, and situated by one of the smallest cathedrals in Spain.

Stayed for 2 nights in July 2006.
After some difficulty with our taxi finding the hotel, it is sort of tucked away on a side street and there were road works, check in was fine.
The reception area and lobby retains the feel of a palace that it once was but the room was all modern and a little bit of a let down.
The room was an OK size, and shortly after we arrived we were given a lovely welcome gift of fruit, chocolates and pimento!
The view was of derelict house.
Breakfast area was a little cramped but food fresh and plenty of it.
Bar was well air-conditioned and service attentive.
