My sister in law was visiting from England so my husband and I decided to take her to Chicago. We stayed here because of the great location.
We definitely were not disappointed with the location, it’s right off the Magnificent Mile and in a nice area.
They have valet parking for $60 per night with no in and out privileges.
The hotel and room itself were both very clean and spacious however, you could hear everything going on in the hallway and surrounding rooms.
Also, there are only two elevators for the whole building and it took ages to get one on our floor and when one came, it was usually full. We’d have to wait either 3-4 cycles of the elevator or take the stairs.
Overall, good value for our money though.

This is my third visit to The St. Clair Hotel - Magnificent Mile, and I'm sure it won't be my last. I first learned of the hotel in2018 and stayed for a quaint staycation with my husband. We then returned two years later for an anniversary stay since we were in the middle of a pandemic and didn't feel comfortable leaving our city.
I just completed my third stay in a solo staycation for an early Mother's Day gift and it was fabulous. I love how close the hotel is to everything that I need to do in order to be okay (food, massages, shopping) but it's also a great centralized location for visiting some of the city's landmarks if I felt up to it.
As a native Chicagoan, I'll save the touristy spots for outside visitors, but being just up the street from the Art Institue, and just west of the lakefront made quick visits possible and easy on the pockets.
The rooms are boutique, meaning they aren't there to make you feel as if you're in a condo, but they have everything you may need in order to be satisfied with an overnight stay.
The rooms were clean and free from issues. If I did have an issue in any visits, they were attended to immediately.
I look forward to visiting more.
I will say, the hotel does the very best it can to make sure that all guests feel safe and secure, however with all things, you can't always control people, including what they indulge in while in their hotel rooms. If anything that has been enjoyed leaves an odor, calling the front desk will handle the situation.

Elevator situation was HORRIBLE. They have 2 tiny elevators with a 5 people maximum and that is without luggage. We were constantly having to take the stairs up and down 7 flights of stairs after waiting over 10 minutes of elevators. The lobby was constantly full of people waiting on elevators. The rooms were ridiculously small, the picture were very deceiving. You had to turn sideways to walk to the bathrooms. The only reason it deserved 1 star was because the bed was comfortable.

Dear Jennifer, we profusely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the elevators during your stay. We have instructed the hotel administration to take necessary action after assessing the issues of the slow and tightly spaced elevators that made your visit difficult. We are extremely sorry about the small room size and amenities. Please be assured that we take your remarks seriously and will work diligently to enhance our guests' experience. We appreciate you bringing your grievances to our attention, as they will be addressed with our staff from the appropriate departments immediately. We hope to take all measures required to rectify the situation soon enough, so kindly give us time to sort this out peacefully. Warm regards, Guest Experience Team

They had no hot water. We had to call down 2-3 times for them to turn it on. When on, hot water only lasted 5 min. This was a problem with multiple rooms during the winter.
Radiator/AC/Heat was exceptionally loud at night and made big banging noises.
Noise from the hallway can be heard perfectly from your room.
This is a cheap hotel. Fine for a night but no longer. It was clean and safe. Otherwise, leaves a lot to be desired. We will not be back.

So disappointed with this hotel. They advertise a restaurant; when in fact the restaurant has not been functioning for a long time.
There was no hot water in the shower; the water was Luke warm. It was like this for the whole time I stayed there. Surely this is a basic requirement. Staff did not care, were told they were aware - and to change the time for a shower. Staff were unprofessional and not helpful or friendly except for one and unfortunately I do not know her name.
Staff need to be sent for some customer service training to learn how to smile and be pleasant to hotel guests; and perhaps be advised standing around entertaining boyfriends and eating while being the front face of the hotel is not a good look.
The lifts are slow and old with long waiting periods during peak times.
There are no fridges in the room even though on their website it advertises them.
This is certainly not a 4 star hotel.
On a good note the beds were very comfortable.

Dear Alison, thank you for sharing your feedback and letting us know what didn't work for you during your stay. We truly appreciate it when our guests point out our flaws so that we can learn from them and improve our quality of service. We apologize for the closed restaurant, lukewarm water temperature, unhelpful customer service, rude staff behavior, slow elevators, and lack of fridges in the room. We have informed the management about your comments, and all the issues you mentioned will be considered with utmost concern for immediate improvement. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention, as well as sharing your liking for our comfy beds. We aspire to provide an experience beyond our customer's expectations, and your feedback helps us gradually attain our goal. We hope you consider booking with us again the next time you are in the area so that we can provide the relaxing stay you expect and deserve. Warm regards, Guest Experience Team

I’m not that hard to please. Just need a quiet comfortable place to sleep, with ability to regulate room temperature and basic customer service (eg, give me a receipt that isn’t blank and don’t ignore follow-up requests for a non-blank receipt) . Long story short, this hotel disappointed and at the price point, I would’ve rather stayed at ANY other hotel in the city. Small rooms, non-working air conditioner, loud, and terrible customer service!

We spent here 3 nights at the end of August.
Central location on Mag Mile. Walking distance to Navy Pier, The Loop and all Chicago attractions. Convenient price for Chicago.
We loved our room at 16th floor.
There is a bar/restaurant inside the hotel (Nora). We had breakfast each morning with coffee, hot tea, croissant and yogourt with fruit and granola.
Staff is superfriendly and can help you whatever you need: they even arrange for my family transfer and tickets for White Sox game.
The only downside is the elevator (too slow)
We highly recommend this hotel for couples or families with children.

DO NOT TRUST THIS HOTEL : 2 single moms w 2 teens , We Booked a double room a month before arriving to Chicago our Plane was delayed so we got to town arnd 10 pm.
When we checked In we were told they only had king room ( no cots , not even extra blankets for someone to sleep on the floor ) We turned away to discuss our options and they gave away the king room to someone else and had no rooms left . 2 woman w kids left homeless at night in a nearly sold out city . Luckily the double tree Hilton came to our rescue and told us a sold out hotel is obliged to find their guests another hotel or room. Seriously don’t give these ppl your money stay elsewhere.

I usually try to stay close to the downtown area when in Chicago, but this particular trip I decided to stay near Magnificent Mile. I'm so happy I decided to do this because St. Clair Hotel has instantly became my new favorite place to stay. When I first called to ask questions, I was warmly greeted on the phone by Armica R. Not only did Armica answer all of my questions, but she was able to help me have a peace of mind with switching to a hotel I have never stayed with before. Upon arrival, she checked me in and was the nicest, most patient, professional I've ever encountered in a hotel setting. Her hospitality, along with the great location to the best shopping Chicago has to offer, the relaxing room and cleanliness, and just how informative and helpful the front desk team has been on all three of my stays at St. Clair (yes, I loved it so much in April and May that I have made it my new hotel of choice for my monthly business trips to Chicago) really make me a fan of the location. I also have to give a big thank you to Freddie who was also kind enough to go above and beyond with a nice smile and helpful attitude while trying to extend my stay. He was so patient and friendly to work with, and he had great suggestions on me for things to do in Chicago outside the downtown area. Finally, I forgot her name (my apologies) but the young lady who work the PM shifts at front desk had nothing but a great personality and cheerful presence during all the interactions I saw her engage in with the guests and myself while trying to get dinner ideas. Again, the service was top notch and really what sold me on the entire hotel. You won't be disappointed here at all. The neighborhood is safe as well, which was a huge perk for me. The only drawback was the elevator. It was under construction on one side, so there was only one bank to use which caused so much wait time. Thank you Armica, Freddie, evening front desk associate and St. Clair Hotel!

Hi, I didn't get any shuttle from the airport. I just used public means of transport, that is subway first, from airport to Jackson because I didn't know exactly where to get off, then a taxi from there to the hotel (about 10 mns), but you can ask the hotel if there is a shuttle to get downtown from the airport.
Have a great stay in Chicago!
Yes, we have a brand new washer and dryer set on the 2nd floor. These machines accept quarters or a credit or debit card. Change is always available at the front desk and there is also a supplies dispenser next to the machines.
WE do not collect an incidental hold. The only addition charge that is collected at check-in is for valet parking, if applicable. Thank you for choosing The St. Clair Hotel.
The St. Clair Hotel Valet Parking Information
Our current valet parking rate is $58.00 per vehicle, per night of stay and includes in and out privileges. This rate is subject to change. The hotel does not offer other parking options, but there are pay-to-park alternatives nearby. The hotel encourages guests to read all signs and rate placards before parking to avoid excessive fees or violation notices. The total for all vehicles for the entire stay is collected at check-in and reservations for the valet parking service are not required. Custom vans, dually trucks, and other oversize vehicles may not be able to be parked, and trailers and motorcycles cannot be parked. In that case we will direct you to nearby garages and surface lots, but we cannot guarantee availability. Vehicles may be parked on the morning of arrival and you have until 5 pm on the day of departure to retrieve your vehicle once without any additional cost. The hotel does not recommend storing your luggage or valuables in your vehicle; we provide secure storage and an in-room safe for these items. Thank you for choosing The St. Clair Hotel.
Tell your colleague to stay somewhere else. The hotel is very run down and not clean.
