Nestled in the heart of downtown Chicago, the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott on the Magnificent Mile is celebrated for its unbeatable location and the cleanliness that guests consistently laud. Many visitors enjoy the simple yet cozy ambiance, enhanced by the complimentary breakfast, though some suggest amenities like water bottles could improve the stay. The Fairfield Inn & Suites Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile, located 216 E. Ontario Street in Chicago, IL has a warm and receptive staff of professionals who not only respects you but respects your visit and stay; An exceptional Staff of Professionals. The Suites are comfortable and you can feel the privacy as you leave and enter undisturbed. A welcome pleasure. In addition, the Fairfield Inn & Suites here at Ontario are affordable. I had a great stay and a most rewarding visit.

The welcoming , helpful and smiling attitude at the reception desk is awesome; a polite gentleman in the first day and an elegant lady in the next morning.
Attentive but not intrusive attitude is what I like in hotels staff.

Nice upgrade to the king size suit in the fourteenth floor although the view was not great at 1405

Due to COVID19, breakfast in the second floor was Grab&Go only of a paper bag containing two fruits, a oatmeal biscuit, a bagel and cheese ( understandable)

The location is great with walking distance to Michigan Avenue (500 feet) and few hundreds yards from the subway Grand station in E. Grand street( red line) from where you can change to blue line at ( Jackson or Washington stations) to and from OHare international airport.

The total time spent from OHare airport to reach the hotel ( train and walk) was around one hour.

Recommend this hotel definitely

We had the pleasure of staying at this lovely well maintained hotel in May (3nights/4days) for our birthdays. We reserved two king size rooms and that's exactly what we was given. Covid-19 practices was being upheld. One room over looked the Ontario St. and the other was a view of a partial parking garage (side street). The rooms was very clean and spacious. The decor was bright and refreshing. Free WiFi is offered.

The room key is the access card for the elevators. Due to Covid - 19 room service items is given upon request such as towels, washcloths, toilet paper etc. I prefer this way anyways...

Items to purchase from hotel pantry such as snacks, drinks, tylenol etc. are next to the front counter.

Every staff we encountered was more than helpful and courteous.
I chose this hotel because of the proximity of mostly everywhere I had wanted to visit and explore.

CONTINENTAL breakfast was given in bags with a bottle of water. At the front counter.

There's always room for improvement but we had no issues what so ever. We will most definitely stay again. Thank you.

Traveling in our party of 3 adults ( 2 between the ages of 48-52 and a senior over 70).

My family and I stayed here for six nights during the week of the Chicago Marathon. When we arrived the concierge was quite casual and unwelcoming - when I asked if the sofa bed had been made up for my children (as previously requested in an email), her response was a shrug of the shoulders and 'Dunno, if it hasn't there should be sheets and pillows somewhere in the room for you to do yourself' - ummm okay, I am paying $4000 for this room and that's the response you give?!

The room was good, but very noisy. Our window faced out over what appeared to be the roof of the lobby and its air con unit, which was noisy 24 hours a day. We had a king suite with sofa bed which is one of the largest rooms in the hotel I believe. The sofa bed was incredibly old and uncomfortable and I felt sorry for my children who had to sleep in it. Our king bed was thankfully very comfortable. This is a very old building that has a lot of signs of age, like peeling paint, mould etc and could definitely use a refurbishment.

There was a doorman who was absolutely lovely and greeted us with a smile each day. The hotel's free breakfast is pretty decent and includes things like waffles, bagels, fruit etc but can get very busy at times, so the sooner you eat, the better.

The location of this hotel is it's highlight - one block back from Magnificent Mile and three blocks from the underpass to Navy Pier and Lake Michigan. Transport options are plentiful but the location means walking around is easy and often the best way to find hidden gems.

As I was doing the marathon, I was interacting with a lot of other marathoners staying in different hotels, who remarked on what their hotels were doing to support their runners. Things like a special early breakfast, massages, happy hour... the Fairfield didn't even acknowledge the marathon, which literally takes over the city on the Sunday. I felt that was a missed opportunity that really should have been utilised.

Would I go to Chicago again? Absolutely. Would I stay at the Fairfield again? Absolutely not.

Dear stacytoby, I recognize your time is valuable and appreciate the feedback you have provided. Receiving warm and friendly service from our staff sets the tone for a great stay. This was not your experience, and I sincerely apologize for failing to meet your expectations. I will be sharing your feedback with the associates, and as a teachable moment, we will be discussing our service standards and reviewing improvement opportunities in the service they provide to ensure that the lack of hospitality you were met with upon your arrival is not a recurrent issue. If you have the time, I would greatly appreciate connecting with you so that I can gather more information to be able to speak with the associate who checked you in one-on-one and to be able to share your room number with our Engineering team so that we can replace the sleeper sofa in the room you stayed in. I again apologize for the level of service you encountered during your time here. We did open breakfast early on the day of the marathon for all of our guests who were participating in it or supporting someone else who was participating in it. This information should have been provided to you upon arrival. Thank you again for taking the time to provide us with detailed comments about your experience so that we can have discussions with our associates about how all of our actions and inactions directly affect our guests and their experiences. Sincerely, VIVIANA TORRES Assistant General Manager Fairfield Inn & Suites Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile vtorres@smashotels.com 312-787-3777

Noisy and poorly maintained. I’ve stayed in this hotel several times over the past 2 years because it’s location is near my work location while traveling. Each time, the rooms are in worsening repair. I travel for work A LOT and I am a platinum Marriott Rewards member. Even with a requested upgrade, and at a rate of $300/night, during my most recent stay my room was right by the elevator, had actual holes in the laminate flooring, had a truly worn/ tattered shower curtain and many cosmetic distractions. Overall, mostly clean. I don’t mind clean and utilitarian/ basic but since each stay has been worse than the last, I will not be back.

I took a very long time to select the place we would stay on our very first trip to Chicago. We made the best choice! The Fairfield is pleasantly located so close to many great things. The block and a half walk to the Miracle Mile means that you will be at lots of great restaurants and shopping in just a few moments. In just a few more blocks you will be at the river and lots more to do. We like to walk a lot on our trips and this hotel is just right to get to so many places you want to visit in Chicago. When we didn't want to walk there was always a Lyft driver just a few moments away.
The Fairfield rooms are very modern and pleasant. Ours was clean and super comfortable. The bed was a warm, soft place to crash at the end of our busy sight seeing day. The staff were so nice and welcoming every time we entered the building. We had a few special needs during our week and they helped us immediately and accurately.
We would stay here again in a moment and will recommend this hotel to anyone we know going to Chicago. Our trip was so nice due to having a great place to stay. Thanks Fairfield!

Exciting downtown location with awkward insanely priced optional parking garage, was quoted seventy so we easily found a block away private garage for about half that. This is an old fashioned setting nestled among the brick and concrete, a bit funny next door to fierce competition. From what my friend said, this was a much better price for a Sunday night but of course our precious night at the Westin in Itasca offered far more room, free parking, and better breakfast with house chefs. We did get some view from our window, nothing special, good sunlight tho have had better. The front staff was well trained, very accommodating, eager to help out store some frozen chocolate we had since our room only had a fridge. Weirdly with all the rain, they had no umbrella or purchase option. Bathroom was very clean, nice assortment of basics, shower got hot very quickly, and overall can recommend.

Appalled at the conditions of my room considering the location of the hotel, name of the hotel, and price I paid . My room was covered in mold and unbeknownst to me and my family we didn’t notice until the next day. We were already there for a medical procedure and had 2 children under the age of 2 with us so you can imagine how upset I was. I sent pictures and reached out for a refund or some type of compensation but nothing so I will be leaving dozens of bad reviews and photos of proof. Do better!!!! Also the good is mediocre and not worth getting up unless you just want coffee, juice or waffles

This hotel has an excellent location for visiting the key attractions in Chicago- very walkable distances, close to public transportation and the Miracle mile. The staff were helpful and welcoming and breakfast was good, room was clean.

The room was a little small but that is somewhat expected in a large city. The room had a mini fridge, desk, chair and bed. The shower had excellent water pressure. The sink was outside the bathroom area (toilet/shower).

Valet parking was expensive at about $50 so we self parked at about $40 - it was about a block with the luggage and no in/out privileges which was fine for us. We enjoyed this hotel and would stay again!

Hello - is there a laundry or laundry service at this hotel? Thanks.
Answer from Viviana T
We do not have an onsite laundry facility but we do offer same day service for laundry or dry cleaning. We request that guests bring their items to the front desk no later than 9 AM in order to receive them back by 7 PM that day.

Do you guys offer room breakfast? What's the surcharge for it? Thanks
Unfortunately we do not offer room service breakfast. We do not have a restaurant on property. Our breakfast is self serve buffet during the hours of 6am-10am. There are many amazing restaurants in the area if you are looking for a more substantial option for your food and beverage needs.
