Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
While some guests at Club Quarters Hotel Central Loop in Chicago find the value to be reasonable, citing its affordable rates and prime location, there are concerns about unexpected fees and the quality of the rooms, which are often described as small and outdated. The hotel is commended for its central location and the friendliness of its staff, but the limited parking and suitability for children are drawbacks.
Travelers enjoy amenities like comfortable beds and water stations; however, some feel the rooms lack modern amenities and cleanliness can be inconsistent.

Detailed Reviews
The hotel is in a fabulous location - close to the red and blue line subway stations (5 minutes walk) which we used for both the journey to and from the airport and to get to Wrigleyfield. There are also a number of shops near by (5-10 minute walk) including Macy’s, Sephora, TJ Maxx. The hotel is also really close to the parks and “the bean”.
Really clean hotel with lovely, helpful staff. I felt safe as a key card was needed to use the lift and gain access to the hotel from the bar next door. Your key card was also needed to access the lounge downstairs. There is free use of the safety deposit box located at reception. Our room was located at the front of the hotel on floor 7. I was initially concerned that the noise from the road outside would keep me awake, but it was actually fairly quiet and the bed was really comfortable. Room size was great - large shower, and it had a fridge and a microwave in there. The furniture in our room was slightly worn and had seen better days, but everything was in working order. Free toiletries were provided. This wasn’t replenished initially however after a request house keeping come straight up within 10 minutes. There is wine tasting on a Thursday evening which also offers olives, and cheese and crackers, and complimentary cans of drink which you can take to your room are available Monday to Friday as well as peanuts, M and M’s, fruit, tea and coffee. There are water dispensers available so that you can take bottled water with you when you go out and explore Chicago. Overall, I would recommend Club Quarters and would definitely stay here again.

If you appreciate clean and simple in a perfect location, this is the place to stay. I saw reviews saying it was too small. One of the beautiful things about Chicago is the architecture which means you'll find small hotel rooms. Bed was very comfortable, shower had good pressure and was hot and the toilet seat was adhered properly. Sounds simple but quite honestly those are the things that make me nuts when I go to a hotel, no matter how much I pay. The business space was extremely comfortable and soothing. I'll definitely be looking to stay here again.

I stayed here 1 night on business - have stayed here many times before over the years. The foyer is always clean and welcoming and, in addition to attentive and personable staff, features beautiful flower arrangements, which is a nice way to greet guests. The front desk clerk helped me check in at one of the kiosks, which was a nice touch. My room was clean and comfortable, including the bed. On this particular trip a had a room overlooking Adams Street - it was fun to watch the hustle and bustle on the street from the comfort of my room. I participated in the 5pm wine hour, which included red or white wine and a variety of snacks - cheese, olives, crackers, and salsa. Simple but pleasant. In addition, the hotel is connected to the Elephant and Castle pub/restaurant that offers a good option if you don't wish to head out for a meal or a drink. Overall, I terrific experience. I plan on continuing to stay at this facility in the future.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Let me list some of the little things that lead up to a great experience. I had a 2 bed on the 8th floor, and it was so quiet - no hallway noise, no street noise, no elevator noise. The elevators were FAST. Each floor has its own H2O station with a plastic bottle you can take with you. The 2 twin beds were small but very comfortable. If you sign up for their free membership there is a lounge downstairs from the main lobby with a free espresso machine, tv, workstations, printer, etc. On the 3rd floor is free laundry. Note: You can't get past the 7th floor from the 3rd floor. It's weird. I thought I could take the stairs from the 7th floor to the eighth floor but no. I got stuck in the stairwell, and went all the way down to the lobby. Which turned out to be a completely different lobby. Happily there was a manager right there who I am sure has experienced many a confused lodger! The *actual* lobby was right through an emergency door.
The location was perfect and an easy walk to the Art Institute, Millenium Park, the El, and the subway. Revival food hall across the street had a huge variety of tasty restaurants at good prices. My only wish was for more coffee pods and a mini fridge in the room. Also, if you use the text feature, you may not get a real person - it's better to just call the front desk. Overall a great stay!

Thank you very much for sharing your experience. I am so pleased to read that you had an excellent stay with us. It sounds like you took one of the service elevators at one point, which is why you could not get back up and ended up in a different spot. Also, for future bookings, we do offer room types with refrigerators and microwaves; just look for the Superior Queen room or one of our suites. We hope to welcome you back again very soon!

I recently stayed at Club Quarters Central Loop again during a long weekend to visit a friend. I wanted to be near O'Hare so I could have a good night's sleep after and before catching my flight, and this hotel is easily reached via the Jackson Street stop on the Blue line. You can roll your bag there--the entrance is right by the red Calder statue.
The staff is really warm and helpful. There is a machine helping you check in and get a new key if you use yours, but it doesn't really work, and the front desk people will help you if they see you struggling. It's staffed all night, which is comforting for women traveling alone. Everyone I talked to, from the cleaning staff to the check-in people, was really friendly and professional.
Another benefit of this hotel is the cozy "living room." It has wifi and a virtual fireplace. It's larger than it seems since there are tables in the back, and while waiting for a friend I was able to get some work done there.
The location means you can easily walk around to look at some of the most famous Chicago buildings, including the nearby Rookery. Berghoff's is just down the street: try the pierogies and ask your waiter to help you pick out a German Riesling. The pub attached to the hotel is great value for breakfast: the waffles and the scrambles are especially tasty.
Yes, the rooms are small since the hotel used to be a residential one. The rooms on the left side are slightly larger. You're mostly going to be sleeping in your room, and it is nice and clean, so the size wasn't an issue for me.

Let me begin by saying that I did not pay for this stay because I was on a business trip sponsored by the individuals who hired me. But I will let them know that this was not an ideal place for me. Probably the top things that troubled me were that there was no room service (and after getting into the hotel after plane delays, I just wanted to chill). The second thing was that there was not an iron or ironing board in the room (and I didn't ask for it because I couldn't find any information about how to contact anyone). Third and probably the worst was that the bathroom was not cleaned properly. It looked like someone used a dirty cloth to wipe down the countertops and shelves. Fortunately, I had brought cleaning wipes from a previous trip camping in my luggage and I was able to ensure that the bathroom was cleaned. I may be an old fart who has become accustomed to a few frills like room service, irons and cleanliness, but I leave that to your discretion. I would not stay here again (sadly).

Dear purplegragonfly2016 Thank you for feedback concerning your recent stay with us at Club Quarters. I am surprised by your comment that we had no room service - our restaurant is open from 6.30am to 2am daily and they also offer room service. We do supply Iron and boards from our convenient Guest Request Closets located on all floors and we can also be contacted 24 hours a day at the Front desk in person or via the phone in your room if you need anything, we would have been more than delighted to have had and Iron and board sent to your room. Apologies for the fact that you did not consider your room clean. I will be looking into this but again if you had either called us or passed by the Front desk and let us know, we would have immediately resolved any of your issues. I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us but we would have done anything to assist you had you let us know, my colleagues are available 24 hours a day so please do contact us - we are happy to assist. Kind regards Paul Tiernan Hotel Manager

Conveniently located in the Central Loop, I picked this hotel because of proximity to the office building I needed to be at.
What I liked: reasonable pricing and convenient location downtown Chicago.
What I didn't like: there is no way to open a window in the room for some fresh air, and since the rooms are rather small, I felt like I was locked up in a stuffy room rather quickly. Moreover, it was almost impossible to regulate room temperature. The HVAC system is really loud and auto mode doesn't work because it keeps blowing air all the time unless you completely turn it off. The bed was not really comfortable and the furniture shows its age, as does the bathroom, which is quite basic.
Also, my room was close to a service elevator, so even in the middle of the night hotel staff would be using this elevator and I would be woken up by trolleys or service carts that made a lot of noise when entering or exiting the elevator.
This hotel does not offer breakfast but there is a lounge where you can access coffee, tea, cereal bars, sodas, and fruit for free, which is ok.
I wouldn't stay here with my family but for solo business travel for a few days, it does the job.

If you are traveling for business, this hotel is a great location but if you are traveling for fun/sightseeing not so much unless you're only planning on doing attractions near the Central loop. Dining and entertainment options are limited in the Central loop, either they close early or are closed on weekends.
However the hotel is near multiple train/subway stations which still makes it ideal as a base, especially at those rates.
As for the hotel, it was nice, courteous staff, room was clean-ish, it had seemed unoccupied for a while and therefore still a bit dusty, Also, no housekeeping during covid unless you request it, Since the hotel is in the Central loop/business district, it is surrounded by other high-rises and therefore no great views, you're just looking out another skyscraper out the window.
Overall great location for the price if you don't mind taking public transportation to the livelier neighborhoods such as the West Loop, Wicker Park or Pilsen.

We have stayed at the Club Quarters Central Loop Hotel several times. Its location is perfect when you need to be near Union Station, the CTA, or the Civic Opera House. The staff is always friendly, and the gym is good. A nice added bonus are the water coolers with refillable bottles on every floor. A great value!

I was booked into this hotel by a local institution with which I was consulting, so I can't speak to the cost of the room. I agree with other reviewers that the room was clean, and service was quite friendly. It's located near Grant Park, home to several excellent museums, which has lovely views of Lake Michigan and is an excellent location for walking or jogging, and is close to shopping areas along State Street. It's easy to reach from the airports via the CTA light rail system. The restaurant associated with the hotel is an English-style pub with numerous reasonably priced options, and unlike many other restaurants in the area, it was open on Sunday night. It's open quite late every day, until past midnight. However, it doesn't open for breakfast until 8 AM, which is rather late for anyone who has appointments at 9 AM or earlier. Fortunately, there are what appear to be a hundred coffee shops that open early within a few blocks. As others have noted, the room was small, with a double, not queen-sized, bed, but it was entirely adequate for a lone traveler. I could hear activity in nearby rooms. I was surprised by the absence of a refrigerator or microwave, but there were a hair dryer and Keurig-style coffee maker. The room lacked an iron and ironing board, but these were quickly provided on request. Overall, I had a satisfactory experience and would stay here again if I needed to stay in central Chicago.

Yes, they are very good about checking in your bags at the front desk until your room is available or if you must check out but have time to spend before going to the airport.
There is a parking garage near the building for an extra fee.
