The hotel was top notch. Being in the 40th floor was a great feeling and the morning coffee watching the sunrise over the lake was irreplaceable. Because it is such a small hotel in terms of room number you get very personalized service. This place will make you feel not only at home but also 100% safe in the city. There wasn’t anything spectacular about the rooms that made them wildly unique or fancy. They were simple and elegant.

The young gal working the night shift went out of her way to find feminine supplies for my wife when everything was closed. She was amazing!!! The staff was some of the best we have ever had including the cleaning crew.

This is now our go to hotel for Chicago.

The views are incredible! I appreciated the safety measures of the building and the quietness of the hotel. Staff was professional and personable. Each one was super helpful with directions and answering any questions I had. Any item needed for the room can be requested on the iPad and the response and resolve is practically immediate. The shower in our room was superb! Most sight seeing attractions are within walking distance. I would highly recommend staying here for individuals or families.

The hotel itself, is a very quiet place and being a single floor, it is not overflowing with people, it is an advantage to find the place you want in the breakfast lounge and you do not hear conversations or screams.

The room is very spacious, has armchairs and a desk, television for who likes, and an esteemed King Size bed, as it is quite large and very comfortable as well as pillows. It has coffee maker and coffee in capsules that have no charge. The bathroom, like the room, is very spacious too, comfortable and clean. Without a doubt the best thing about the room is the view of the city, which although it is not the skyline of the city of Chicago, you can appreciate part of the coast and the immensity of the city as it does not have towers in front.

On the other hand the breakfast is very rich, there is not so much variety or yes but only in flours/sweets but it is very good equally. Free capsule coffee, milk, apple and orange juices, puddings, cupcakes, cereal bars, cereals/oats, yogurt, bagels, toast bread. Plus any extras you want to add to toast, cream cheese, shortening, jams. In the particular case we came from Argentina, they did not have hot water for mate, although they have a dispenser with hot water and we have ordered hot water, it is not hot enough to make mates.

Last but not least, all the hotel staff have been very friendly and friendly, always a very friendly and polite treatment that needs to be highlighted and thanked.

In conclusion, the hotel is very well located, it is a few blocks from the Willis Tower to visit the Skydeck, Union Station, and is located a few blocks from the fountain to the memory of Buckingham, which is located on the coast of the city. Not far away, you will also find Millenium Park and the Cloud Gate. And if you like to walk, you can go down Michigan Avenue to the Riverwalk and the entire downtown area, a recommended hike. The city is beautiful and worth walking all over.

The views and service from staff were both top notch! However, we checked in on a Saturday afternoon and had no idea how to check into the hotel. The parking garage office was empty and we were locked inside. The staff then proceeded to tell us that it gets locked on the weekends...which made zero sense to me. Also, having to pay $40 for parking was absolutely ridiculous--given the fact I spent over $200 to stay for 1 night. The least they could have done is given me some sort of discount for parking, or even compensated me for the parking. With that, the room was very clean and the views were beautiful, however, the experience was just entirely underwhelming. The website said there would be complimentary robes, but there wasn't any. It just felt very underwhelming given the price I was paying to stay. Also, the area wasn't the very best and there was hardly anything really around the hotel.

Great views. But it's not a good area, especially at night and really nowhere good close to eat or go out. Additionally, be careful when you check in. Hidden resort fee as well as giving you a card key that simply gives you access to the office area. But apparently, you need to return this card key, which no one told me about. And now they are trying to charge me $30 for it.

Response from SBlanch1, General Manager at The Buckingham Hotel
Responded 10 Jan 2020
Hi Gary, I apologize that your experience with us was unsatisfactory. I am sorry that you felt misled by our fees. We don't want any guest to feel that way which is why we display the resort in the summary of your charges at time of booking as well as on our digital registration platform at check in. The building access card and applicable fees is also outlined in the digital registration that all our guests sign during the check in procedure. We understand that sometimes in the hectic nature of traveling things can get misplaced and sometimes guests accidentally take the badges with them. While there is a charge that is incurred, we are happy to provide a full refund for the access badge if it is returned to us. As of the writing of this, we received the badge in the mail and have issued a refund to you. Again I want to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and if you need anything else, please feel free to reach out.

The hotel location is a walkable distance to anywhere you want to be in The Loop. The train station is very proximate to the hotel which provides convenience from and to the airport. The breakfast was simple but the ambience felt nice. Best of all, the staff: Joel, Chris, and Joana were very welcoming. They were very helpful in terms of providing us with what we needed and answering whatever questions we had about the area since it was our first time in Chicago.

We booked this hotel because of the accessibility to parking and most of the other hotels were fully booked.
The hotel is based on the 40th floor of the Buckingham financial building.
Our room had a magnificent view over the harbour and the city. It was a huge room with all the facilities that we could require.
The staff were very helpful and the room was clean.
We would stay here again.

We stayed here 7/20/2024, a little confusing getting in from the parking garage but one we made, we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is only one floor of the building and that is the 40th floor. Love the decor in the hallways and the room, fantastic views, quite, clean and the front desk agent Ron was amazing! We would definitely stay there again. The only issue was the female front desk agent working during checkout. She was on her computer and took over a minute to acknowledge us, we asked her about the parking garage discount Ron told us about and then she bashed Ron and told us he was wrong and went on about him rudely. After a few minutes of this she mentioned validation. Well, the validation gives you a discount, I guess we had to put up with her rudeness because we used the word discount instead of validation. Ron did say validation. All in all a great stay but friendly customer service goes a long way and the morning front desk agent does not understand this.

The lobby is located on the 40th floor. Not a very big hotel. Just that floor. The front desk looked dated. Made me worry for a second. We have traveled a good bit and let me tell you the hallways and rooms were very modern, clean and awesome!! Great views, continental breakfast was top notch too.

Not sure about parking since we took public transportation. On Weekends a enhanced continental breakfast is included in a small room with a great view. M-F several food areas are available on ground floor but are not free.
