This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Hotel Felix delights guests with its charming and sophisticated atmosphere, featuring a trendy style that is evident from the inviting lobby to the quaint boutique vibe. While opinions on the amenities are mixed, with some cleanliness issues noted, the hotel's pet-friendly nature and prime location near River North and the Chicago Riverwalk are frequently praised.
Service experiences vary, ranging from unhelpful to friendly. Cleanliness generally receives high marks, though room size and unexpected fees have caused some dissatisfaction, leading to mixed views on the hotel's value.

Detailed Reviews
The room was a closet with no natural light because the only window looked at another building. It was genuinely claustrophobic and I am used to European hotel rooms. The TV was placed in such a way that both people in bed can't see it. There was no room fridge as well. However, the good news is we only slept there as the location is great for getting around River North, easy walking to the Chicago Riverwalk, the Lake is 10 mins away, and the Brown line is 5 mins away. So, if you are just sleeping, fine.

Hotel Felix is situated in a very good location in downtown Chicago. There is a lobby seating area and a room for storing luggage etc. There wasn't any food available onsite but coffee and hot water were available in this lobby area each morning. The room was small but clean and adequate for our stay. We had a nice view of city lights from our top floor room. We enjoyed our stay as we were able to sightsee each day comfortably and there were many restaurants around to enjoy nice food. They advertised a gym but we didn't check it out.

Nicer hotel than I thought it would be. I usually stay closer to Michigan Ave where most of the hotels are, but this was an excellent location, close to both the red and brown trains and many N/S bus lines, close to great restaurants, and close to a number of gyms and workout facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were fine and in good shape, but small. Hotel workout room minimal (dumbbells+bench, Swiss ball, rollers, 2 treads, 2 ellipticals). Free coffee in the morning, no food. Plenty of breakfast places within 3 blocks. I’d definitely stay here again.

I can’t commend the front office manager, Venessa Campos, and her entire team, enough. I’ve now stayed at the Felix 4 times this year while traveling for business and they’ve been nothing short of professional, warm, and welcoming. Even to the point of remembering my first name upon entering the lobby, prior to check-in, each of my last 3 visits. My initial booking there was primarily based on their reasonable rate, convenient location, and overall value. It’s now my actual preferred choice when I visit Chicago due to the above and beyond hospitality Venessa and her staff have extended me.

What a wonderful and fantastic hotel to stay in whilst visiting Chicago on Holiday from the moment of check-in to check-out , we received the warmest of welcome from Reception staff, Housekeeping to Night staff . Rooms Super Spacious & Fabulously Clean. Very close in proximity to the Magnificent Mile . Shops . Restaurants and tourist attractions, you can walk anywhere or catch a Bus . We arrived on one of the coldest days -18 with snow but this didn’t deter us from venturing out after reception staff recommend places to eat and even went of there way to show us on a map the Attractions to visit , nothing was to much trouble. Highly Recommend as a 10/10 hotel to stay in .

We were in town for a wedding Saturday, 1/18 and stayed at Hotel Felix. Great location, check in smooth, clerk friendly and efficient. 5th floor room was small but clean, bathroom clean as well. Bed was comfortable with pretty good quality sheets. Problems began when we went to sleep about 11pm. The occupants of a room either next door or very close had a dog that started barking and yipping for a very long time. The rooms on the 5th floor need sound proofing! It sounded like the dog needed to go out or needed some attention? Where were the owners? Also not sure what the policy regarding pets at Hotel Felix is? Finally after an hour or so the poor dog quieted down. Unfortunately at 4am the dog started again. I called the front desk and they said "they would send someone up". Not sure if they ever did because again, the barking lasted for well over an hour. I did try and contact the hotel about our experience on Sunday 1/19 morning and haven't heard anything as of yet, which is disappointing.

Stayed during Labor Day weekend for a music festival. Booked through Priceline and price was comparable to big chains surrounding the hotel and I chose something I thought might be more unique than a chain. Big mistake. Amenities were very minimal, room was clean and fine, accessibility to the hotel was fine. However they now charge a mandatory daily "Urban Fee" which supposedly pays for your access to the fitness center, internet and lukewarm coffee in the lobby (they do not provide any other breakfast services). I was charged this fee both on my Priceline invoice and by the hotel. Upon calling the hotel they were incredibly unhelpful and basically said it is my problem, go figure it out with Priceline. When I called to inquire (and yes, nicely) about the extra charge, the front desk staffer kept talking over me and would not listen to what I was asking. My advice? Stay somewhere else. Or at the minimum, do not book this hotel via Priceline - it wasn't worth the over $250/night I ended up paying when there were known brands across the street at the same price point.

Front desk younger ladies are very nice, professional, and welcoming. However the professional and friendliness depends on who is working the customer service front desk at the time..it is not consistent. Coffee and fruit should be served until 11am “$20 a night urban fee” however at 10:30an, only decaf coffee and an apple was available. The hotel is NOISY. I can hear every single time someone opens the door within this half of the hallway. You can also hear everything from outside. Our little tiny window in our room is old and dirty and you can’t even see out of it into the alley. Yes our “view” is an alley way with dumpsters. The mattress is HORRIBLE and the pillows are too big and lumpy. You can feel the springs on the mattress. The mattress feels very cheap. Whet a child complains about a mattress, you know it’s bad. The A/C turns off and on regardless of the temp. it’s set on. The rooms are tiny… uncomfortably tiny! The amount of times I’ve hit myself on the corner of the bed is insane! If you want your room to be serviced it’s not automatic you actually have to call and request. The price for this hotel is way overpriced. There are many better options for similar rates in better locations. I’m not exaggerating when I say this is the worst hotel I’ve stayed at in the last 10 years.

This hotel is in a good location and that’s about the only good thing about it. It desperately needs a good clean and the rooms are very small. If you want to check in early they will charge you $30 and they charge a resort fee each night of $15 which they say are for amenities. By this they mean coffee in the lobby.
On checking in we were given a room with what appeared to be vomit on the side of the bed. How the cleaner managed to make the bed without seeing it is beyond me. We were moved to another room.
The communal areas and the coffee area are just plain dirty with overflowing bins and coffee spilled counters! Once I mentioned it someone came to empty it.
On check out because I complained I was refunded one resort fee and the receptionist told me she was doing me a favour!!

The hotel was extremely disappointing, with a noticeable lack of cleanliness. Every towel provided had hair on it, and the shower was filled with hair as well, indicating that the staff members were not fulfilling their duties properly. To make matters worse, we were initially given a room, but another person was assigned the same room just an hour later, resulting in an awkward situation where they walked in on us. After requesting a different room, we were eventually accommodated, but it remains unclear how such a mistake could have occurred.
The unprofessionalism of the staff was evident when we called the front desk to request a different room. The person who answered the phone simply hung up without saying a word, displaying a complete lack of professionalism. Overall, the staff seemed disinterested and unenthusiastic, giving the impression that customers were only valued for their money and not for their satisfaction.
