Decided to stay downtown for my wife's birthday. Found a great rate at Swissotel. Every staff member we encountered was so friendly and helpful. When checking in the front desk attendant attempted to upsell us on a better room, she was very polite, but we were on a budget, and declined. I thought that would put us in a room facing a brick wall, however we had the most wonderful view of Navy Pier. The bed was amazing, the bathroom was spotless. It would have been a perfect stay, had it not been for the couple next door that fought for at least 2 hours. My wife ended up calling the front desk so that we could finally get some peace. Checkout was super easy, we just dropped the keys in the dropbox. Definitely willing to give Swissotel another shot.

Reservations through Groupon discounts worked flawlessly for check-in and we acquired rooms on the 25th and 28th floors. The desk staff were great both at check-in and throughout our stay whenever we had a question.
The rooms were clean and spacious with nice bathrooms. There wasn’t a place for us to play cards or another game in the hotel, so we eked out some room on a table, a couple stools and the bed in one of the rooms.
The location is phenomenal as it is directly above the fantastic Riverwalk and two blocks from the DuSable Harbor where a lot of nice yachts are moored. Behind it is Lake Shore East Park while three blocks away are the start of Maggie Daley Park (great for children) and Millennium Park where Cloud Gate (The Bean) is located. The biggest issue is figuring out what street level we needed to be with our car as we drove in. Hint, the upper one.
The stunning views of Chicago from on high are the WOW-Moment here. Both day and night the view is remarkable.
As a guy in the elevator said, Be careful of any room above the 18th floor.
Why? we asked.
Because the views will kill you! He answered!
Ummm…we think he was right!

Weekend getaway to Chicago and the wife has always wanted to try the Swissotel. Location is about 4 blocks east of Michigan Ave. We were placed in the premier Lakeview comer suite on the 29th floor (2904) that offered stunning views of the city, river, the lake, and Navy Pier. The small hallway from the door to the room itself is a nice touch and adds to the privacy feeling. The bathroom offers great views even when you’re doing your business on the toilet. The bed was great. Sweet spot between firm and soft. Slept like babies.
The fitness center on the 43rd floor is great. Very clean, well lit and offered awesome views as well. Had a lot of equipment and was much larger than your typical hotel gym.
Harper at the front desk was great. Very friendly, very warm, and clearly loved helping guests. We are already planning our next trip!

I came to Chicago for a legal education program which was held in the hotel. Very nice facility. My room was on the 10th floor and was pristine and well appointed. Had a nice desk with good lighting and easy access power including USB ports for devices. The TV had accessible ports for hooking up to a computer or other devices and I assume it was smart, but I did not use it during my stay. The bath was stone/tile and had both a long tub and a separate glass walled shower with a good head and plenty of hot water. The meeting facility was first rate and the men’s room was the nicest and best laid out restroom I have ever seen in a public space. The hotel is located in the Loop and I walked to two nice off premises restaurants without issues. The Chicago Riverwalk runs in front of the hotel. The room rate was no doubt reduced because I was attending a group meeting, but the group rate was the best “big city” room price I have ever paid and given the quality of the facility, it was the best value hotel stay I have ever enjoyed. The staff was attentive and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.

The location of this hotel is very amazing very much near to River walk. We got excellent room view where we can see the river and Navy pier. The rooms are spacious, neat and clean lobby. Very helpful staff and really safe hotel. View for Gym 43rd floor is very good. The only problem we had is with room service due to limited availability of staff they did not provide room cleaning daily. We stayed here for 4 night but the room cleaning was there only for one day. They did compensated the other days and gave us 30 USD vouchers (10 USD per day) which we can use either for in room dining service or to grab some soda or snacks from the lobby.
Overall we had good experience with this hotel except a few issues that we faced because of the staff shortage.

We booked the Swissotel chicago after we had an amazing time in one of their partner hotels Novotel Tergarden Berlin. As a family we were there to support my wife in the Chicago marathon
as the hotel is well positioned for the start/finish line. Upon check in at the Swissotel chicago the front of house member of staff informed us that on top of are Bill we also had to pay $20 a night
urban fee Plus $100 a night deposit for any damages that might occur in are room during are stay which added another $480 to are bill. We
also got informed that if we choose not to need are room cleaned we would receive $10 a day refund after check out. After we received this information I presented the invoice we received
for are stay which did not mention the $100 damages fee, after I had explained this to the front of house employee we responded by say that it was a standard free that All hotels charge
and that I should of done my research on the Swissotel to know that they change $100 a night damages fee. He then called over his supervisor to talk to me as he told me that talking to my
family was above his pay grade. When the supervisor came over she nicely explained what the extra charges were for and I then mentioned to her that she was helpful to my family unlike her
colleague, upon telling her this the her colleague then called me a Liar. After we checked in we just wanted to start are 4 day trip in Chicago, on the first full day we left out the room door card asking
for are room not to be cleaned but on the second and third day we took in the card and also phoned the front desk on the third day asking for are room to be cleaned which never happened
for the whole time we stayed in the Swissotel as you can imagine we were low on towels and other supplies for the bathroom. As my wife was running
the marathon on the Sunday I had stopped by the reception on Friday asking if they were putting on an early breakfast as the marathon runner's had to be at the start area at 5.30 am. I first asked the
breakfast staff and they told me that breakfast was from 6 am and I explained about the marathon which his response was a shrug of his shoulders. I then asked the reception and they
confirmed breakfast would be from 6am but advised me to us Dunkin donuts they were open 24h which I did on the Sunday. So on the Sunday I walked to Dunkin donuts to get my wife a bagel
before her marathon then returned to the hotel with the bagel. After having breakfast in are room from Dunkin donuts we then headed done out of the hotel at 5am only to find that the hotel were
putting on an early breakfast after telling us that they would not have a early marathon breakfast.
The bottom line is when you arrive and check in to the Swissotel and they tell you that you need to pay for you room plus a security deposit and a urban fee on top of what you had been quoted just say that is no problem and give them your money because if you question them about any of the extra expenses they will make your stay with them a trip from HELL.

The staff was very attentive to my requests. The hotel was super clean and the mask policy was enforced. I booked a room with river view and they assigned me one on the fourth floor with a magnificent view of the river and Michigan Ave. Unfortunately there was a noise (from a fan or furnace) and although they came right away after I complained, they couldn't fix the problem. I was moved to another room on the 8th floor with lake view (I believe they go for a higher rate than the ones with river view) and although the view was spectacular, if I have to return to this hotel I'd book again a room with river view.
The Palm restaurant on the ground floor offered breakfast, lunch and dinner. I ate there six times (in five days) and I was never disappointed, on the contrary. Everything was perfectly prepared and the service was spotless (especially from Marcos and Luis).
I ate at other places as well, for example at the Hyatt Regency down the street and the food and service there was inferior to the Palm's.
If you stay at the Swissotel, do not miss the beautiful Lakeshore East Park, just behind the hotel. It's a true oasis in the middle of the city and you can have breakfast at Eggy's or buy a refreshing fruit salad at Mariano's (an upscale market) or take a stroll around the perfectly maintained square. surrounded by townhouses and skyscrapers.

In 2018 we found the Swissotel Chicago Santa Suite by happenstance. We were staying at another hotel and visited the Santa Suite with our one year old granddaughter. It was amazing! We had such a great time, we had to book rooms at Swissotel Chicago for 2019. We were not disappointed. We booked an Elf Suite with an adjoining room that accommodated our family of six very comfortably. Walking into the suite, my granddaughter (now two) was awestruck! She ran into the room, hugged the reindeer decoration and jumped on the bed. Her reaction was everything I had hoped it would be! The decorations, coupled with the beautiful city scape, was a sight to behold!,
Later that evening, we went up to the 41st Floor Santa Suite. There is no better way to see Santa Claus than this. You are warmly greeted by staff and offered Hot Chocolate with every accoutrements available. The Presidential Suite is outfitted with beautiful trees and Christmas decorations, including Santa's suit hanging in the closet. Santa, himself, is located in a separate room where there are no lines or little wait. The Santa is warm and accommodating to your children and family. The staff is ready and willing to take as many pictures as you ask. There is a room with a mailbox to send Santa a letter along with crafts and face painting. There are also refreshments for the adults! I will never stand in line at a department store again to see Santa. Santa Suite is the only way to go. By the way, you do not have to stay at the hotel to go to the suite. Although I highly recommend staying here, if you can. You can make reservations through Eventbrite.
The staff at Swissotel Chicago is excellent. Any question or request was answered in a courteous and friendly manner. The hotel, itself, is beautiful and the rooms are great. I recommend this hotel at any time of year, but Christmas in Chicago is the best. This is definitely our tradition for the future. I can't wait to book again in 2020.
My sincere thanks to the entire staff at Swissotel Chicago for making our stay as magical as I dreamed, You are my hotel whenever I visit Chicago.

I had a wonderful view from my suite on the 34th floor — truly terrific. But that’s pretty much all that’s worthy of compliment. The service was awful. They didn’t clean my room — I had to call down several times to request despite hanging the door hanger requesting service. Nobody answers the phone ever. There’s no shower curtain so the bathroom floor is soaked after a shower. Water costs $8 in the room, yet there’s no in-room mini-bar or snack service. Towels are old and crusty. And the elevators: strangest setup ever. You press in the number for your floor from outside the elevator then you get in. Rather than distributing same floors to one car, it loads up one car then the other so almost no matter what you’re stuck in an elevator with someone else…and during the pandemic no less. Makes no sense, but neither does anything else at this hotel.
