Check in and check out were a breeze. The staff were friendly. The room was spacious and comfortable. There was an iron and ironing board, umbrella, hair dryer, fridge, freezer, microwave, safe deposit box and a large TV. There was daily maid service for the rooms. The only complaint I have is that on arrival there were lots of hair on the shower closet floor and I pointed this out to the maid the next morning when she came to clean my room.

We stayed at the Blake for about 5 days. They put us in one of the newer remodeled rooms, which was modern, historical and lovely! Also it had a fridge and microwave, which was really great for helping us save on the food budget,. Even better than the rooms and common areas, were the super cool staff! We were planning on having to bite the bullet and pay the super expensive parking fee, but our host recommended much less expensive alternatives (which was super gracious) Next time, I stay there, I really need to tip the guy who recommended the other parking options. In addition, SHOWTIME, our bell service man, was always friendly with a genuine smile and ready to anticipate anyway he could make our stay better. The location is great, for trains, planes, walking and any other type of transport, and pretty good food really close by, especially at the connected Meli Cafe - they serve almost everything you're craving. Across the street is a pretty good pizza/grill and a Starbucks!. We have reservations to go back already! Although downtown Chicago has a lot of "assertive homeless" seeming people, we felt safe near this hotel.

Perfectly situated for exploring Chicago for the first time, this hotel exceeded expectations. Our corner room (434) had terrific views day and night and the huge windows made it feel luxuriously large. The decor of the hotel is creative and comes together well… especially note that each room number sign has a different iconic photo from Chicago. Make sure to read the wallpaper! Our room was well-appointed with comfortable bedding, plenty of outlets, comfortable seating, and space to move around easily. The bathroom also had important features like a stylish shower grab bar and a magnifying makeup mirror that could be hand-held or standing. Room for improvement might be making sure rooms have all amenities stocked (no hand soap, lotion, or conditioner), adding a place to hang your towel closer to the shower for ease of access, adding a more powerful bathroom ventilation fan, and adjusting the shower water temperature controls (we couldn’t get anything but very hot water). The lobby area was easy to move through, and we appreciated the fresh, cold water available all day as we returned from sightseeing. All staff were friendly and helpful. We felt like the room price was right for our stay, but recommend Spot Hero for parking at a cheaper multi-day rate than the hotel offers.

Staff are great, friendly and very helpful with information and directions
Building is old but well maintained and appointed. The HVAC system needs to be cleaned, if you have allergies or are senitive to mold etc you may experience issues. The shower is large but is designed to soak you with cold water when turning on.

We did a timeshare exchange through RCI - this is a hotel, not your typical timeshare. We were happy with the size of our room - it had a microwave, small refrigerator and a lighted makeup mirror. The room only had one chair but when we asked for another one, they sent one to our room promptly. I was happy that our room was cleaned everyday and we were given clean towels daily. There is a water dispenser with hot and cold water on the 6th floor in the exercise room. There is coffee and tea available in the lobby from 6-10 a.m. We enjoyed Pizano’s Pizza and Magnolia Bakery (excellent carrot cake and carrot cake pudding). We were able to use the public transit system with no issues. If you enjoy Tiffany stained glass and old architecture, I highly recommend the Driehaus Museum and the Chicago Cultural Center (be sure to sign up for the free public tour).

My wife and I wanted to celebrate our twentieth anniversary in Chicago the city were we were married. We decided to use our timeshare to book the Blake Hotel on Deerborn. We were concerned about one issue in our current world of COVID. It wasn't about the pandemic itself but about the fact that we are from Wisconsin. Currently the City of Chicago has placed Wisconsin on a quarantine list which meant that we would have to remain in The Blake the entire Weekend. We would have to forgo the numerous tourist opportunities in Chicago and because The Blake wasn't a resort and our concern was that our activities would be restricted. We were wrong. The staff at The Blake were amazing they constantly worked to make our stay enjoyable. Everytime we were in the Lobby we were greeted by Showtime a gentleman with a huge smile and an over abundance of energy. He helped us from getting food to taking selfies on the lobby television screen. When we arrived we found an anniversary card personally signed by the desk personnel Howard and Timothy. They also had treats in our room next to the card. Our room was large and immaculately clean! The bed was roomy and comfortable. The bathroom was elegant! It had beautiful utilities and was lite by adjustable lighting in the mirror. It was stocked with any toiletries a person would require. Although we were quarantined my wife and I would like to thank The Blake Hotel on Dearborn and their staff for an absolutely wonderful anniversary weekend during these trying times!

I had the most polite young lady check me in. They claim they are renovating hotel I heard no noise. They even provided free ear plugs no need to use. Housekeeping staff really did not disturb me they read do not disturb sign. They had free hot drinks in the morning. A nice selection of teabags. Bathroom had two sinks.

I loved the history of this hotel written in the wall paper of our room. Our room was of adequate size, the bathroom was stylish although it did not have enough lighting. The television only came with one cable movie channel, and no NBA channel (we visited during the 2022 playoffs). The exercise room was well equipped, it even had an authentic Peleton exercise bicycle. The service was very prompt and the rooms were cleaned every day, which is getting more difficult to find. There is an attached restaurant, Meli's Cafe', which serves a very decent breakfast and lunch daily. I would return here if I go back to Chicago in the future.

I have always enjoyed staying here, so I booked my 3rd visit. Showtime, the concierge, actually remembered me. He's such a great asset to Hotel Blake. Always friendly, always helpful and courteous. If you're hungry he knows right where to send you for a great meal.
This trip wasn't my favorite of the 3. I requested a last minute room change to have a view and bathtub due to pain I was in from the trip. I anticipated a wait, since I was a bit early. However what I didn't anticipate was for the cleaning persons to take lunch in the middle of the job, leaving me waiting in the lobby. Showtime was very understanding of my frustration. I visited the local 7/11 and when I returned they had upgraded my room and had my bags situated and waiting for me.
Let's talk about the view...Spectacular!!! I love the Chicago skyline. I never once turned on the TV. I just pulled a chair over and stared all day and night. However the main window faced the federal prison and you could hear the whoop and hollering from the rooftop. It made me extremely uncomfortable. I felt as if they could see me and I kept the blinds closed on that side of the room. You could hear pretty much everything going on inside and outside of the hotel. Lacking in privacy in that sense.
On day 2 I received a call from the front desk that maintenance was knocking at my door. Not my favorite way to be woken from a much needed nap.
On day 3 I requested a late checkout. I was told 1 was okay. Cleaning service asked me in the hall when I was checking out. I said 1. Then she knocked on my door 15 minutes later, again asking when I was leaving. 15 minutes later I received a call from the lobby asking if I was still there. I wasn't sure what the rush was, but I finished gathering my things and left, feeling rushed.
Again, I've had great stays here...this really wasn't one of them.

I thought that the coffee provided by the hotel in a room off of the lobby was quite good.

West Bloomfield Township, Michigan16 contributions3 helpful votesWhat is the parking situation for the hotel guests? What options does one have? Is the parking right at the hotel or in a different location?
There is valet parking through the hotel for $55.00 US a night. Otherwise there are several parking lots within two or three blocks of the hotel which are much cheaper, around $20.00 US a night. We booked our spot through Spothero before we left. It provides parking in most major cities however the lots were not full and it would have been better to pay when we got there. Hope this helps.
Greetings,
We do not offer rollaway beds. However, we do have sleeper sofas in many of our rooms that have one King bed. You can cantact the hotel to request a King room with a sleeper sofa. Our phone number is 312-986-1234.
Kind regards,
Hotel Blake
