Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Clean, good location, and friendly staff. Not worth the price though. Restaurant and drinks also overpriced. Party in the room next to us that didn't stop even after security came to their room. Urban experience fee charged daily for coupons to use at the hotel were useless, added another $500+ to our business trip.

This place had things I loved and things I didn’t. Hopefully you will find this helpful. Here is what I liked: - I love this location. It is very near the bean and the river. It feels very safe. - my room on the 33rd floor was quiet and large. - the bathroom had a separate bath and shower. - I found most of the staff to be incredibly friendly and helpful. Shout out to the room attendants, wait staff, bellman, and catering team. -I love that the fairmont has lots of green initiatives and LeLabo products. Here is what I don’t like: - I arrived at noon and was charged $50 to get in my room before 4. I sure hope this is not the new trend. It is inhospitable. The front desk is not friendly and they pushed room upgrades on my friends who arrived at 4. - the hotel is in need of a refresh. The lobby is not terrible, but not beautiful. The rooms and hallways are rather depressing.

Our stay here was pleasant. No huge issues or problems. As it should be for a short stay at a high~ish end hotel. There is valet parking, but if that costs too much I would recommend parking at one of the near by parking garages and do reservation to reduce the cost. Check was easy, but did take some time as only 1 staff was present at around 8/9pm. This hotel does have whats called an " Urban Experience Fee " - 25$ PLUS TAX per night (don't know how you tax a fee) , that if you don't use the benefits you will miss out. Even though I read the website before coming, I still forgot. It would be nice if there was a sign or if the staff reminded people when you check in to use the credits that you get from the "Urban Experience Fee", but I am assuming they hope you forget so that the hotel profits. Room was nice, seemed very clean. Did not use room service. They do have bars/snacks in the room, which I think are pressure sensitive, so if you pick them up they can sense it so it charges you. So we did not touch anything. There was no fridge as it was the mini bar, and like I mentioned before, if you take items out you will be charged. The staff was nice when encountering. Check-out was easy if you did not have to talk to the front desk. I did have to call a few days later as I never received my check-out receipt for my stay. The location for wanting to be "in the city" was nice. I would stay again if I needed to be in that exact location. The city is walkable and park-able so there are other hotel options. Also we did book the regular room so for that price we were content. I know there are higher-end rooms. All in all, nice stay , worth it to be in the city and relaxing space.

The room, the view, the furniture, the customer service - everything was fantastic. I enjoyed my stay thoroughly. The only thing was the valet was more expensive than usual. I would still recommend it though. Chicago parking is awful. Thanks again.

Excellent service. Professionalism from the valet/checking in, all the way through checkout. I believe his name was Steve, who checked me in. He recommended a room upgrade, for a minimal fee. I’m glad I listened. The room was excellent. 5star experience!

The stay was fine over all, but I will never stay there again because of the surprise 30 fee. If they want to charge more, they should just increase the price. Its one thing to have to play $50 for parking, it is another to also add a hotel fee after the customer leaves.

Overall nice experience. Room was nice and new. Staff was friendly. Little bit pricey. Got double charged accidentally and Steve took care of it right away. “Urban experience fee” was a waste of money. Should tell guests before they book the stay the hidden fee. Valet parking absurdly expensive. Food in restaurant was okay and pricey as well.
