Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had no idea what to expect but we were not disappointed in the least! We reserved the room for one night but after getting into the room, we decided two nights would work much better for us, so we called and requested an extra night! The room is very clean, bedding, floors (beautiful wood with no carpet), no animals allowed (thank you!!) large bathroom with great towels! Everything was spotless! We went down the road to the local laundromat and washed our clothes and then ventured into Placerville and Pioneerville, when we returned there were fresh towels laid out for us as well as more coffee and creamer for in the morning!! We definitely were impressed because unless you ask most motels/hotels do not touch your room unless you ask them and then it is difficult to get them to comply! Hats off to the management for an awesome stay!!

Such a great place! New cute stand alone cabins and great food in the Gold Mine Saloon next door. Clean units, comfortable beds, plush towels, and friendly staff.

In the summer, one can listen to live music from your cabin’s porch.

The food next door at the Gold Mine Saloon is terrific. Try the French Dip and the espresso martini.

We stayed 2 nights. Comfortable bed, smart tv, friendly service, clean room. Bathtub was very deep, would have loved to take a bath if we had more time. Only wish there was a microwave. The restaurant next door is very convenient and good food. 2nd time staying, will stay again!

I stayed in a cute little new cabin, and that was the only positive thing about my stay. The cabin floor had a film of sandy dirt across it and the shower only has a tiny hot water tank under the sink so you run out of hot water about 4 minutes in. I stayed over a weekend and they had live music on Saturday night. Even with quality ear plugs and the fan turned on I could hear the band playing and singing until after 10:30. If I was staying there for a fun weekend and did not have to get up for work the next morning at 5:00am that band playing right outside my door might be less of a negative.

The hotel does not have a front desk or lobby, so you have to go into the bar/restaurant to check in and out of your room. The servers and bar tenders are the ones checking you into your room. If the restaurant is busy it is very difficult to get checked in. My co-worker and I had a terrible time trying to get an online reservation modified so we could each pay for our rooms separately. There were many conversations via phone, text, and in-person before it finally was resolved. And then after my stay I requested a receipt so I could get reimbursed on my expense report and contacted them via email and phone many times with no response. My co-worker also had to go back to Idaho City to talk with them in person to get them to correctly charge her for her stay after multiple attempts on the phone failed and they never were able to provide her with a receipt and so she had to take a photo of their computer screen to use. I have stayed in many small town hotels and this management was by far the worst I've experienced.

When we got there, the cabin we had booked was not cleaned as we entered. We informed the kid working in the saloon. He had to call his manager to figure out what to do. They put us into another cabin but with smaller accommodations and a broken TV. For our second night, they moved us into the original cabin we had booked. They did nothing to make up for the inconvenience of arriving to an unclean room or for giving us a smaller accommodation then I paid for. The adjacent saloon which is also a part of this place had very loud live music going past 11pm. The music was enjoyable until we we tried to get to sleep. The cabins were new and comfortable I have to say. The kid who helped us was great. I think management was poor on customer service.

What can I say that hasn't been said about this gem already?! My boyfriend and I stayed in the Bear Room which is pretty much self explanatory. I'm from S. Florida where life is fast paced and the locals are known to be rude (unfortunately), so I was a little nervous about our first night in Idaho. That anxiety was short lived because Steven and his staff at Gold Mine were absolutely amazing. We walked in at the bar, sat down, and right away I knew my boyfriend and I stood out like a sore thumb.. we're outsiders so it was expected. But it was okay because this one bold but charming, honorable man came to our table and broke the ice. That man was Steven. Once at our table.. everyone else followed; and by the end of the night we were all like family. Thank you sir, for your hospitality! I'll never forget it.

For those of you reading reviews... I promise this one is it. Our experience here at Gold Mine was unlike any other. The room (omg the bed is sooooo comfy!), the staff, the venue, the food and drinks, everything and everyone made the start of our adventure so very special.

We enjoyed cabins 8,9,and 10, with two other couples. Super cute and cozy cabins, with very comfortable beds. Loved the front porches. If you want early sun on the porch, book cabins 11-13. Loved the music right outside, and the random cleverly built fireplaces. We will be back!
