Pioneer Inn Condominiums are located at the top of Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area 18 miles from Boise, Idaho. Our facility is open year round and is Ski-in, Ski-out during the winter season. In the summer we hold special events for weddings, corporate retreats, and even family reunions.

We stayed in Unit 258 a "superior 1 Bedroom". It was nicely remodeled with two bunkbeds and sofa sleeper in main room and double bed in bedroom. The policies of the Condos are odd, they add a $ 45.00 cleaning fee to the stay and require you to take out the trash before you leave. There is no maid service during your stay. The road from Boise is only 16 miles but takes 45 minutes in good weather. The condos are the only place to stay at the ski area. Bring all the food you will need as the resort's food service is limited and there is no store. The ski area is very popular with over 8,000 people on a busy day. The people are friendly. The skiing is very good, including night skiing. We received 2 for 1 lift tickets because we stayed in the condos. Lots of young families having fun.

I had the pleasure of having the Pioneer Condos host my wedding in early August. The staff as amazing and helped us with everything we needed to make the special day that much more special. We are looking forward to going up and staying again during ski season! Thank you Pioneer Condos at Bogus Basin for the best venue in Idaho.

The Ritz-Carlton, the Pioneer Inn Condos is not. If you are looking for over the top luxury and pampering, head over to a Sun Valley resort. These are privately owned homes, clean and comfortable. My family has spent the past two years between Christmas and New Year's day here (in Unit 208/209), and we have loved it! We stop at Albertston's for groceries (and the state-sanctioned liquor store) on West State Street in Boise before heading up. We stop at the Bogus Basin office at the base of the mountain to get weekly lift tickets (but they can also be purchased at both the JR Simplot and Pioneer lodges). We have stayed in the same unit twice, and it is clean, spacious, has an incredible view, and is quite literally located on the Buttercup run. Does it have a Westin Heavenly bed? No, but the mattresses are surprisingly comfortable and the kids love the bunk beds. Is there a spa? No, but there is a hot tub. Is there room service? No, but all of the appliances work and the lodge is a one-minute walk. As far as the bathrooms - this is a private condo, so while there are towels, you need to bring all of your own toiletries (including a travel hair dryer). The decor is mountain rustic - not necessarily what I would choose for my own home, but there have been many times I have questioned the decorating taste of high end hotels. And there is Wi-Fi in case you need to check-in at the office. The unit is also just steps from the upper (quiet-ish) Pioneer Lodge, which has reasonably priced burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, as well as HOT soup and chocolate (not to mention a full bar). There is a Pepsi-sponsored 800' tubing hill, which is a total blast. Ski lessons AND babysitting (do not forget your child's immunization records) are available down the hill at the JR Simplot lodge. People are simply friendly. I live near Oakland, California, and it's faster for us to go through airport security, fly to Boise and drive 40 minutes up the mountain than it is to drive to Tahoe during the winter season. Granted airfare is a bit more expensive than gas, but given the location of the condos RIGHT ON THE SLOPES, the room price can't be beat - and the lift tickets are CHEAP compared to Tahoe as well.
One note: Because the condos are 40 or so minutes up the mountain from Boise, make sure you bring along entertainment - especially if you have kids. We like to bring little plastic shovels for the kids to dig out front, or play on the deck. My six-year-old son skiied a couple of times and went down the tubing hill, but I think his favorite activity was shoveling snow out on that deck.
One more note on parking: During heavy snows, the management will call and have you move your vehicle to avoid it being snowed it. This should not be thought of as a hassle, but, rather, as a favor.
Anyway, if you are looking for a reasonably priced place RIGHT ON A SKI RUN, with NICE people, I would highly recommend the Pioneer Inn Condos.

For a ski resort condo, this was pretty bad. Stayed here for a family wedding. If I had any other choice of places to stay, I'd have checked out before the first night. Once your up there, you kinda have no choice. Our condo was dirty, old, used, worn and in serious need of simple updating like painting. I mean, feather painting? really? I'm sure that went out in the early 90's! The mattresses were HORRIBLE. My husband likes a hard mattress, but these were like sleeping on the floor. The floors were DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY. I think the only solution would be to replace them. Carpeting was like EUWWWW! Linolium was like double EUWWWWW! While the view was fantastic, you dont want to spend any time inside the condos.

As a surprise for my husband's birthday, I reserved an upgraded condo at Pioneer. I was disappointed before my stay ever began. I requested email confirmation when final payment was made, it took several calls on different days before I received it. I also called a few days prior to arrival to confirm my reservation again, and the young girl on the phone, although pretty helpful, was busy laughing and seemed preoccupied with another person. I addressed my concerns to the office and the reply was along the lines of my email doesn't always work and that person doesn't usually answer the phones, not sympathetic at all.
Upon arrival, the room was musty and had a smell to it. The furniture was aging, seats were dingy and somewhat faded in the dining area. Not my idea of an upgraded unit by far. There was no spatula, some pots and pans were sticky with what must have been grease. Dust bunnies coming out of the bathroom heater, using the dvd required a maze of remote controls. Freezer really smelled. Grease on countertops near stove--I spent a good while cleaning the area. The only area that seemed upgraded at all was the bedroom--it had new comforters on the beds.
We went down to the office to ask basic questions about getting back to the condos after going skiing, and the person really didn't have much info for us. Considering the condos are in the midst of skiing, you would think he could have atleast given us some sort of direction to go in to find the info we were looking for. The condos are not owned by Bogus Basin.
Knowing we had small children, the person who made my reservation still put us right above the spas. Teenage boys were hooting and hollering and having snow fights in the spas until 1030 at night. This made for grumpy kids each morning.
The second day of our stay, we drove to the lower lodge to ski. We returned to no parking, despite the parking for Pioneer condos only sign. They tagged people, but didn't seem very inclined to tow anyone for the comfort of the condo guests. Whats the point of the condo sticker in my car if they don't enforce the parking rules?
I will not stay here again, not worth the price. Convenient for weekend skiers? Yes!!!! Worth the hassle? No!!!

We had such a great time in such a beautiful setting. We could have not asked for anything better. We would gladly let anyone know that you went beyond our expectations. Your facility and employees were excellent.
You refurbished the chapel area seating and railing making the wedding area all that much better.
We were allowed to utilize your employee break area for wine, equipment and food storage. We made coffee in their space and you allowed us to take over like we owned the place. this was above and beyond the norm.
Yes, some of the condos are in need of upgrading but every room we went into (and that was many due to the family and wedding party condos needed) were clean. This is in the mountains on a small ski hill, not Sun Valley but with views better than Sun Valley. For the location, the condos were very satisfactory for our needs.
We were pleasantly surprised by your hospitality and accommodations. The freedom to just "be" was wonderful!

I always stay here every Labor Day weekend when competing in the Bogus Basin Hillclimb sports car races. It my favorite destination in the series! It's unfortunate I never have the time/energy to hike, play disc golf, and enjoy the area, but it's still just so beautiful!

The condos are set up for family fun with multiple beds and clean facility. I was only dissappointed with the futon, it should not count as a place to sleep. The view from the condo was beautiful and bogus basin is great for activities summer and winter.

These condos are ideally located at the top of bogus basin. Reasonably priced and well maintained. In fact the Caretakers were so friendly and helpful, we will be back again. (They made our stay fun). We stayed here with family before and had a wonderful experience each time. The two condos we rented, were recently remodeled and had everything we needed. Two huge hottubs to relax in while our kiddies played in the recreation room. We also enjoyed the Sauna after a long day of skiing. So worth the $$$! For the price and convenience we couldnt go wrong.
