I first stayed in this hotel about 15 years ago when it was fairly new to Washington and really the only decent hotel in town. Back then it was a great hotel. I've since stayed here a dozen times or so in the last three years while in town on business, and the overall quality of the hotel has really declined. The rooms often have a bad or unpleasant smell that is poorly concealed with some type of deodorizer; the fixtures & furnishings are sometimes in disrepair and really need to be improved. Doors face the outside, and the seals are sometimes in poor shape...in the winter you can often feel a significant draft in some rooms. The staff are generally cordial, and occasionally very helpful, but are sometimes curt and seem disconnected with the guests...it makes me cringe to find inhospitable folks in the South, an area where I have generally come to expect hospitality above and beyond the norm. After my last stay in July, I decided that would be my last. I need to come back for business in a couple weeks, but have decided instead to book a room at one of the hotels in Thomson...20 to 25 miles to the southeast. Stay here if you must, but do not expect much.

We have spent the night at the Jameson Inn in Washington, Wilkes County, GA many times over the past 7 years because Wilkes County, GA, is the location of the Kettle Creek American Revolution Battlefield. We support the KCB Association's efforts to purchase the remaining battlefield acreage and create a park with trails, signage, comfort stations, parking lots, and other improvements. So our travel to Washington is for (volunteer) business reasons.

We stay at the Jameson because it is the only motel in town. We have tried the one hotel (The Fitzpatrick) and one of the B&Bs (now closed) as well. They both had nice ambiance but ancient plumbing and no desks in the rooms for our laptop.

The Jameson Inn is an old motel with concrete block walls, outside room entrances, and two levels but no elevator. It is located near a drug store, grocery, several restaurants and fast food places, and a bank.

POSITIVES: The carpet has been recently replaced, and the vanity area has been refurbished. Some new furniture has been added. We had a flat screen TV with good choice of channels, fridge, and microwave. The king bed is comfortable. Breakfast is included: choice of dry cereals or instant oatmeal, individually packaged pastries, and coffee. The staff is friendly and helpful.

NEGATIVES: The sheets and towels are threadbare, and I had to put the phone directory under one of the broken legs of the bedside lamp to keep it upright. We reserved a king room for two and received bath linens for one person and half a roll of toilet tissue. Although free wi-fi is advertised, we never could get a signal, and the desk clerk said the wi-fi in the area is very weak.

Some of my friends and I were in town to do some local gem mining and this seemed to be the best hotel close by in the area. There isn't a lot to choose from, so I was scared that the hotel might not be up to par giving the cheap price. I was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and decent. The beds were particularly comfortable. The staff was super friendly. There was some confusion on how I was charged since I booked and paid through Travelocity but they straightened it out the following morning. I was disappointed that they were no longer serving breakfast due to the COVID thing, so that sucked. But there is an Ingles next door and literally a Mexican restaurant right across the street you can walk to. Score! So the location is good, the beds are comfortable and the staff is friendly. We had no issues with our room. This isn't a 5 start hotel, so don't expect that, but it was a good deal for the money in my opinion.

I DO NOT recommend this hotel. My husband and I went to Durhamtown and needed a place to stay that accepted medium size dogs for the weekend. I made reservations a week before and called to get information about their pet policy. After 8 hours drive in heavy rain, we finally got to the hotel at 4am to discover their pet policy was not what they said it was on the phone or online and they were going to charge us more.
First the hotel is really what you get for the price. The place smells, lights don’t work, bathroom and bed don’t seemed to be cleaned very often. The mini refrigerator had food from the last guest and microwave was dirty inside. That said we didn't expect much so we just endured it and I wouldn’t come here to give a bad review just for these reasons.
At check out, however, I decided to complain about the extra charge. I have never experienced discrimination against my nationality until this old lady named Pat that worked in the front desk of Jameson Inn Washington asked me "Are you a travel agent?" "Where are you from anyway?" followed by a pause making a superior face "You are not American." and after that accusation "You should watch out!"
First Im not an agent, but what did she care if Im an agent or not? Whats up with this interrogation?
Second I have all the right in the world to complain about an unexpected extra charge of any kind, and me being an american or not should have no bearing on the situation. I thought hotels were aware that foreigners stay in them while traveling. Apparently not at this c****y hotel.
Third what the hell should I watch out for? Am I supposed to be an illegal alien, in fear of her calling immigration? She should be the one watching out for her job because I truly hope she has been fired by now.
Pat is an old lady who needs to realize that the racist attitudes of the old deep south have no place in 21st century US and is quite lucky that her racist tirade didn't earn her employer the discrimination lawsuit her actions richly deserved.

Please forward this message to the General Manager For This Property -
My Mother-In-Law passed away recently and I unknowingly booked this hotel for myself and family attending her funeral on 2/27.
First of all - My sister stayed in room 109(The refridgerator in her room was broken and she repeatedly asked for it to be fixed or to be moved to a different room. The hotel clerk Brooke told her she would send someone down to check it no one ever came to check it so my sister asked to change to another room. Brooke told her that she could not move her to a different room because a broken refridgerator does not justify moving her to a different room....HOLD ON HERE....I had paid for these(two) rooms in advance on mine and my husbands credit cards!!! I din't realize it at the time but that would be my least of problems with this hotel.
Now fast forward to my room...The toilet in our room wasn't working properly(flushing really slow) when I called the front desk, James said that this was due to the hotel being an older hotel and it should be ok... Needless to say two nights later, the toilet overflowed and S*** was all over the bathroom. I went to the front desk and told James that the toilet was overflowing. James said "that he would get to it when he could!!!! Mind you the room had started to smell like S*** and we're sitting their waiting for help!. James comes down 30-45minutes later with towels and plunger and cleans the toilet. He did not bring clorox, pinesol or any type of cleaner for the smell! He suggested we go to WalMart and buy it ourselves! I was livid!!!
Needless to say I went to the store and bought some cleaner for the smell.
I asked James if we could switch to another room and he refused. Because we had to go to the funeral home early the next morning and I wasn't in the mood for arguing and just wanted the issue resolved. I decided to followup the next day after we returned from the funeral home, finalizing arrangements for my mother-in-law.
By this time Brook was back at the desk. I told her our room 106 wreaked of #2 and my sisters room 109 refridgerator still had not been fixed, once again asking for another room. Brook said there were approximately 37 rooms in the hotel and ALL of The refridgerators were broken and even if they weren't the hotel was completely booked solid.(The booked solid was a complete LIE because ours was 1 of only 3 cars parked there not only that...we could see into the empty unoccupied rooms because all of the curtains in the rooms were open! I tried repeatedly to get a refund for the balance of our stay and Brook refused to move us to another room or refund the prepaid balance on our rooms. I had to return to work yesterday but my husband stayed due to family matters and because we were refused a refund still staying at this out dated, overpriced, nothing works hotel with the rudest most unprofessional clerks I have ever encountered in my life, especially under the circumstances that we were there for which they were fully aware of....not to mention prepaying!!!
The rooms are overpriced, the toilet overflowed, the jets in the bathtub didn't work,
the refridgerator in one of our rooms didn't work and I was refused a refund.
I almost forgot...I asked Brook for the Customer Service Number to file a complaint and she said that there wasn't a Customer Service Dept and she didn't have the owner of the properties telephone number!!!!!

We needed a room for just one night and this was a good option for a small town. The room was clean and tastefully decorated for an affordable price. There was a desk and refrigerator in the room which was nice. We would stay here again if we are in this area again. Much nicer than some of the reviews we read on-line!

Having visited friends in Washington I decided to stay overnight and made a visit ot the Jameson Inn. The desk clerks are very friendly and was treated very nice. The rooms are very clean and have been updated. The mattress on the bed are very comfortable and the vanity area is very nice with new fixtures and counter tops. For the time I spent in Washington was very satisfied with the hospitality and accommodations at the Jameson Inn.

While traveling through the southeast part of Georgia I came upon a small town by the name of Washington. After obtaining a room at the Jameson Inn I went to the downtown area referred to by locals as the square. It was like stepping back into time and experiencing the old south again.
I enjoyed the stay at the Jameson. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the staff are very helpful and seem to me to want to please and spoil me. I shall return to the town of Washington and hope to see the staff at the Jameson again. I found what I was looking for in a weekend.

We have family in Washington, GA and the only "decent" hotel is the Jameson Inn. It is a nice room, HOWEVER, the rude treatment from hotel personnel is flabbergasting. I was questioned like a criminal and was made to feel as if I was inferior. Luckily, I am used to 5 star quality and refused to be interrogated for trying to give this company business. I refuse to stay there any longer. My family and I travel an additional 20 miles to the Best Western in Thompson, GA where they KNOW how to treat a paying guest. I strongly recommend not staying at this particular Jameson and if you do, bring your own blankets.
**HORRIBLE HOTEL**
