Detailed Reviews
We were in Elberton to visit Family that were camping at Richard B. Russell State Park. This Hotel was worth the money we spent for the one night. It was quiet, clean, a little run down, but I knew it wasn't going to be Trump Towers. We had a King size smoking room. It was really BIG. The continental breakfast needs more items. We chose to eat out for breakfast. It is conveniently located. Save your money for other things and stay here.

Used the Econolodge in Elberton as a "home base" for a Guys weekend in the Lake Russell area. Very convenient to Lake Russell and room was very clean. Mattresses could use an update though and we took one look at the very modest continental breakfast before heading for McDonald's. Also, be prepared for train whistles throughout the night - bring your earplugs. The tracks are not right next to the hotel, but you can hear them nonetheless.

I have stayed at this hotel twice for business trips that I make into Elberton and each time I have been pleased. This is not an expensive hotel (I've normally paid about $50-60/night) but it does offer a good room and some niceties. The owner (Mr. Sam Amin) lives on site and went the extra step to accomodate our special requests (we had a large party of monument dealers in town and we needed a room away from the rest of the guests where we could host a hospitality room, and Mr. Amin took care of us). The rooms are basic, clean, and are a good value. The showers have a strong stream of hot water, the sheets were clean, and all the room's necessities were stocked quickly each day. They even had free breakfast each day we stayed there. The hotel is centrally located in Elberton and is probably the best value in town.

Hangout not a motel. With all the load music, cars in and out dropping off the working girls. You will not be sleeping just hanging out. Then at 1am the managers decided to drill and hammer the lock on the room next to mine. Thank God for grandkids of I would be in jail

We were well pleased with our room and service at this hotel. We had problems with the tv which they immediately took care of. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and it was pretty quiet for the amount of people staying there. Would not hesitate to stay again if in that area.

This hotel was convenient for the festivities we were in town for... The rooms were somewhat clean... It smelled like formaldehyde as if the carpets were just cleaned, the bathroom was full of mold... The shower curtain looked as if it had not been cleaned in years... The staff is very friendly but we all ended up with a flu-like/upper respiratory infection.

The EconoLodge of Elberton, now known as Magnuson Hotel is the best Elberton has to offer. I have stayed at the EconoLodge several times and each time it gets worse. The place has no competition and therefore does not fix anything up. The room I just in this weekend had no knobs on the controls for the heat and cooling system. One could only guess which way to turn the stem that was sticking up. This plasce use to be in in the EconoLodge system but no longer is and all the points I gained while staying there are now lost as I don't travel else where that often. They REALLY need to fix EVERY room! What they put out for a breakfast is the bare minimum....no fruit, some cereal, bread, mini donuts, and some bagels. Oh yes, and lne waffle iron. As I started this out it is sad to say but I will have to continue to go here as long as I continue to visit family. One good thing.....I have never seen bedbugs but then they probably would not like the beds. They quite often have fishermen staying there who get up at 5 or 5:30 and bang in and out of their rooms getting ready for a days fishing as well as yelling back and forth to one another.

This hotel is no longer the Holiday Inn Express. They lost their franchise in Sept 2006 and I can see why. We checked in and after looking at the room left for another hotel. Dirty and you could see through the sheets on the bed. Very low quality! Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The pool was wonderful and very clean! The staff was great, and very nice! The room shown was clean looking and all good, however in checking into a room that was reserved 3 weeks earlier- with a specific room no requested., the spiders in the bathroom surprised me. Since they was just one, I did not mention it to my family. After unloading, and my child screaming, she had found a web in the bathroom, and another one in the door frame. Exhausted, we stayed one night, and though the sheets looked clean but we wrapped ourselves in our own blanket. We had planned a 4 night stay but left early the next day!

I was traveling with a friend and we reserved a room since we knew we would be arriving late. We arrived about 1:00 am local and the desk clerk (Owners wife perhaps) was friendly and helpful at check in. (I had woken her up.) The room was clean and comfortable. Lots of water pressure in the shower. Good AC unit. Enjoyed our stay! No complaints at all.
The breakfast is your bare bones offerings (bagels, small donuts, cereal, waffle maker, juice, milk, and coffee) which is what I expected.
As an aside: This hotel used to be an Econo Lodge. (The EL flootmat was still being used in front of the check-in desk.)
