Beautiful old hotel renovated to modern standards. We’ve stayed twice and both rooms were nicely decorated, natural light and very quiet. Located right downtown with free parking snd on the town square. Breakfast is semi home made but delicious.

My family and I drove from Oklahoma after recently purchasing a monument company and wanted to meet our vendors and see things from there eyes. This hotel was highly recommended by everyone in town. So of course we had to stay there. We were so impressed by this hotel, staff and our beautiful room, we didn’t want to leave. We stayed an extra night and it wasn’t a problem at all to reserve the room for a second night. Breakfast and bar not open on Mondays so we visited the local cafe for breakfast and lunch. Beautiful town, friendliest people in GA! Cant wait to visit again soon.

The Samuel Elbert is a surprise as one doesn’t expect such a nice hotel in a small southern town like Elberton, Georgia. However, finding ourselves in northeast Georgia on a late Sunday afternoon we decided to stay and the Samuel Elbert was a great choice. The historical building has been well updated. The front desk receptionist was friendly and helpful. Our corner room was spacious, clean and well appointed. The king bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately Sunday night in Elberton is “deadsville”. The hotel restaurant is not open Sunday night. There was literally only one local full-service restaurant open, a mediocre Mexican that was not memorable. The next morning the breakfast offerings at the hotel were limited, but to be fair there were only five rooms occupied Sunday night so it’s not surprising. Sunday evening is probably not a good barometer of the hotel or the town’s potential. It’s likely any other night’s stay would be more lively. However, overall the hotel is excellent and if you find yourself in Elberton, it’s unquestionably the best choice.

Checked in and went to our room, which was not cleaned. Spoke to desk clerk who gave us another room. Could not lower the temp in the room. It had to be changed at the desk by the desk clerk. Tried making a call, phone not working. Desk clerk told me I had the mute button on. He called me and nothing could be heard. I turned on the desk light....nothing...bulb out. Called the clerk once again for a bulb. He brought it up to the room and it was changed.

The following morning went down to breakfast at 8:45 a.m. No eggs, bacon was gone and no bread for toast. The cook got us bread for toast, but all else gone. Oh, and we like milk in our coffee, not half and half. No milk.

Management needs to be more involved in the day-to-day workings of this property, which by the way is new, nicely kept from a cosmetic standpoint. I'm sure this is a one off and perhaps one day we may stay there again.

My husband and I checked into The Samuel Elbert Hotel in Elberton, GA on October 10, 2023 for an anniversary trip. We were planning on staying two nights. We ate at the Quarry restaurant in the hotel. I ordered fried butterfly shrimp (which I believe were frozen and not fresh because of their perfect symmetry), garlic mashed potatoes (which were not garlic but runny instant potatoes) and salad. Later that evening I was very sick. I can only blame my sickness to something I ate at the restaurant because after eating we went directly to our room. Because of my illness, we had to check out after one night and we were not able to stay for the second night. When we received our credit card bill I saw there were charges for two nights' stay. I was never advised by the desk when we checked out that we would be charged for the second night since we did not stay for that night. I called the hotel four times in three days and asked to speak to the manager about the additional charge of $171. I was told the manager was not in and would return my call. She never did. When not hearing back from her I called the hotel and was told that the manager had noted in their computer system that we would NOT be refunded for the second night’s charges even though we did not stay. I was advised they had a 72 hour cancellation policy. Well, the 72 hour period before our reservation, I was feeling fine and I was unaware that I was going to be sick from their food. I guess if I had died due to the bad food, the hotel would still have charged me. The fact that the manager never returned my calls but simply noted my dilemma in their computer system, says a lot about this hotel's hospitality policy. Since I was being ignored by the manager, I decided to email the hotel. FINALLY, I received an email in response to my email from KaraLeigh Jones, the GM who told me our early departure WOULD NOT be refunded. I would not recommend this hotel due to their customer service policy, and would certainly not recommend the restaurant.

This is a quaint updated hotel in the downtown area. The room we stayed was a king which was very spacious with a comfortable bed. It had a sitting area and pullout couch (comfy as well). Being in a corner room it was very quiet even though we were on the street side. A few shops within walking distance. Staff was very responsive to requests and room was clean. A great cafe was the M&D down the one way street. The breakfast had limited items but did have a few hot items (biscuit, bacon, sausage, you would to check the milk as it tasted spoiled).

The hotel was very nice, the lobby is beautifully decorated! Our room was large , we had a king bedroom and was very nice and clean. No complaints about the room , however, the bathroom had some issues: the toilet didn't have a lid, and it was a commercial toilet. Would be nice to have a lid to keep stuff from failing in and to use to dry feet off. That brings attention to the shower. Which was nice and big, another however, there were no hold bars, for us elderly and a little shaking on our feet and needing to shave legs, there was nowhere to hold on to! And there was hardly no water pressure! All that aside, we did enjoy our stay!

You expect small town hotels to be mediocre at best, but this is a proper quality hotel. Clean chill rooms with a bar and food downstairs so you don’t have to go anywhere, and it’s right next to town square. Price wasn’t too crazy when I went. Free parking.

This is a picturesque building, with a fantastic restaurant on the first floor, but we had a few things happen that turned us off to this place. When we checked in, we were sent to a room that matched what we had booked, but it had someone else's clothes and computer at the foot of the bed, and the bed was not made up. They couldn't figure out what had happened, as they had no record of a guest in the room. They gave us a new room that did not have a king bed, which is what we had booked. The new room did look over the town square, which we had requested, and was very nicely furnished. It was very clean, except one stain on the carpet. The weird experience happened when my husband took a drink from one of the two complimentary water bottles provided on the desk, only to discover it was not water at all, but something clear that had a very strong chemical smell and taste. Luckily he was able to spit it out without swallowing it, but it left a bad taste that he could not seem to get rid of. I took the bottle to the front desk to alert the management in case others were like this, and the woman agreed it was not water, and kept the bottle to show her manager. When we checked out the next day, the woman at the front desk said they had not figured out what had happened, but she promised to have the manager call me. The manager never called me. I only heard from the hotel by e-mail after I responded to an e-mail asking about our stay. I was very disappointed with this experience and the management's lack of follow through.

Very pleasant surprise when we, family of 3, checked in. Room is very spacey, modern, and spotless clean. The entire staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, true southern hospitality.
After staying in other hotels on previous visits to Elberton I can only recommend The Samuel Elbert Hotel, nothing compares to it in the area. We will definitively stay here again on our next visit.

In the room we had, yes, there was a pocket door that separated the bathroom from the rest of the room. HUGE bathroom space.
