The Park Plaza Hotel, built in 1922, on the famous Park Avenue in the old downtown Winter Park, is a unique and intimate vintage boutique hotel. Personal service and genuine hospitality is the tradition of the 28 room Park Plaza Hotel. Stay in a cozy one-of-a-kind room full of antiques with an elegant balcony garden overflowing with ferns, potted plants and brightly colored flowers. Situated on the corner of Park Avenue and New England street and overlooking a Rose Garden in the Park, the location is home to some of the best shopping often described as "The Rodeo Drive of the East."

Detailed Reviews
Stayed two nights in a king suite with balcony facing restaurants and shops. The property has the potential to be very charming, however, it is in need of updates. The creaking floors were to be expected for a property of its age. I have stayed at other historic inns in the past and so my expectations are reasonable, however, there is a lack of privacy in these rooms for sure. The location is smack in the heart of everything you could want from a visit to the area, however, the busy street is bustling into the night and unfortunately, in my case, it did not allow for proper rest. The hotel staff were very pleasant and did offer to change the room to one that faced the park/train tracks, and had a balcony, however, it was a significantly smaller room that felt a bit stuffy and so I did not take them up on the offer. I did have second thoughts later as I think that side of the property may be more serene, especially at night, even with the train. The train is more manageable than the street noise in my opinion. It would be nice to see this unique and special property receive attention as I believe it could be so much better.

Greetings svan1, I truly appreciate you taking the time to write a review, and take your comments very seriously. The points you made were very valid, and agreeably we do sit in the heart of the township, subsequently noise can be a factor. Winter Park has a noise ordinance mandating that things quieten down at 10pm. Occasionally the street can be noisy after this, but I must say that with a quick phone call the Winter Park Police are very responsive. I certainly hope you stay with us again, and please reach out to me personally next time you are here, so I can ensure your comfort and satisfaction. It is important to us at the Park Plaza Hotel. Thank you, Pia Brenan, GM

I really enjoyed my recent stay at this charming hotel. It was reminiscent of past elegance. The location was handy to restaurants, shopping and transportation as well as to other areas including the airport. I loved sitting on the balcony having morning croissants and even purchased a lovely meal from a nearby restaurant to bring back to enjoy on the balcony and savour the park view. The hotel staff was very accommodating have any needs that I had. Would recommend this hotel for those who enjoy old world charm but for those who like slick and modern it would not be a fit.

The Park Plaza Hotel is centrally located in the heart of Winter Park, Florida. It sits on Park Avenue directly across the street from Central Park surrounded by numerous fine restaurants and shops. The hotel itself is a two-story building and as you enter you are taken back in time to the 1930s era. It has the appeal of that old world European charm with an old-time operating two door-person elevator. The hotel offers different rooms, however, our experience was in a king suite with a balcony overlooking Park Avenue. This is where we enjoyed our complimentary breakfast every morning which consisted of orange juice, coffee, and freshly baked croissant, which were just perfect to start our day prior to our morning walks in the adjacent neighborhoods with oak filled streets and majestic homes on the nearby lakes. Our room was very clean and spacious; yet, the bathroom was smaller, typical of the time. The hotel personnel were phenomenal, very personable and helpful. Pia, the general manager, was also very friendly and attentive to our needs. We look forward to returning to Park Plaza Hotel on our next stay at Winter Park.

Hotel lobby has historic charm. The vintage elevator double doors feels reminescent of days gone by. We had a king room with fern covered porch facing a busy street. Furniture looked like it needs a serious update. Wood trim in the room needed a new touch-up of paint. When you see ear plugs lying on the dresser it gives one pause for concern. There was significant street noise and boisterous talking at a restaurant which seemed to echo down the street. Maybe some find this charming but the old wooden floors were creaky and lack of sound proofing allowed us to hear our neighbors creaking floors as well. Bathroom was remarkably small. TV are placed in seating area and not able to be veiwed from lying in bed. We did hear very loud train whistles but did not hear them after 11 pm. Continental breakfast of coffee, juice and croissants are served to one's one upon request in the morning. It feels like this place needs a deep clean. My husband dropped a battery on the floor and needed to crawl around with a light to find it. He found sunflower seeds under the dresser and more dirt that gave us the willies. The staff was very friendly and helpful with local information. If we return to Winter Park we will look for different lodging.

Greetings memaw60, I appreciate you taking the time to write a review, and am sorry the Hotel was not completely to your satisfaction. I am glad that overall you were very happy with the Hotel, but feel bad that you found a dusty floor under the dresser, and absolutely apologize for this. The Hotel has been closed for the past two months due to the Covid19 situation, and we have used the time to completely refurbish the lobby, and deep clean the rooms. It was a perfect opportunity to re stain wood, replace or refurbish furniture, and completely dismantle closets and chests of drawers. I think you will be pleasantly surprised next time you are here, and again thank you for letting us know about your stay. Pia Brenan, GM

Fortunately, I never got to stay at this location. When calling to inquire about rates an availability for a corporate room block, I was told by Pia Brenan that they did not have a specific sales person and they weren't interested to which he then hung up the phone. I called back twice to which I was repeatedly hung up on and when I finally got through the 3rd time, I asked to speak to the manager in which Pia replied he was the General Manager and he stated they weren't interested and again, hung up the phone. At this point, I didn't even give details on what I was looking for and at that point I wouldn't want to do business with this location. For someone to repeatedly turn down an inquiry for business in January of a new year, & consistently hang up on a prospective client.. I'm very disappointed in how I was treated. If this is the type of person that handles any type of event for this location I'd run, far in the opposite direction.

Just returned from two nights in Winter Park, FL. This hotel, built in the 1920s, is family owned and operated. Every morning, continental breakfast is delivered to the room and can be enjoyed on the terrace. This is not the place to book if you are looking for modern amenities, large rooms or a large-screen TV. It IS the place to go to be very conveniently located on Park Ave. and across the street from the park. The hosts cannot do enough for you. Winter Park is a walkable town with shops and restaurants along Park Ave. Most restaurants feature indoor and outdoor dining. The Morse Museum is a short walk. The Scenic Boat Tour is a five minute car ride.

This quaint historical Hotel was Grande! Our balcony room was just the place to sit and sip - and the room delivery of breakfast each morning was such a treat! Exceptionally clean room - with a very comfy bed! And... a close walk to the train... will plan on a return visit in the future!

Loved the feel and decoration of the room! We booked a room with a balcony facing Park Avenue. The bathroom is dated for the period of the home but that made it fun. The breakfast delivery was nice with coffees, juices, and warm croissants. Coffee was available in the lobby at 6 a.m. Friendly staff, an opportunity for valet parking too so that we didn't have to keep feeding a meter or moving the car. The drawback is the noise. It's not the hotel's fault, but they have single pane windows and the street is noisy. Very inconsiderate people have their car radios blasting until all hours, musicians stand on corners in the park with amplifiers until 10 p.m., and the restaurant across the street is noisy with people and music until midnight, even during the week. Didn't make for a good night sleep. They give ear plugs in the rooms, so this noise problem is obviously well known. The windows and balcony door did nothing to block the noise. It's a shame because the hotel is absolutely lovely. Maybe a room further from the Park or in the back would be better.

We checked into the hotel expecting it to be charming and looking forward to a great weekend. It is in an excellent location walking distance to many restaurants and the park. The room was absolutely dreary and dark, filthy dirty - even the bathtub was filled. We immediately complained to the manager who reluctantly moved us to another room and threatened to charge a higher rate that we disagreed. The next room was at the end of the hall with a bathroom so small a normal size person could not use it but worst of all there is a bad tripping hazard that the bellman pointed out between the bedroom and bathroom making it impossible for anyone to stay there. No wonder it was vacant on a popular holiday weekend. Don’t let the historic charm they try to sell you trick you into staying there. This hotel doesn’t even deserve one star.

The Park Plaza is many years past its former state of arts & crafts style charm. It does not appear a dime has been dropped into the place for improvements. There is no soundproofing anywhere, the bathrooms are tiny and cramped, the lighting dull, and overall the hotel is just tired. The staff act bored and routine in their duties. They cannot help the fact there is virtually no lobby space or dining of any sort, but the prices should be adjusted to align with their limited service options and amenities. The Park Plaza needs to be torn down as she has long outlived her usefulness

Greetings,
Yes we are Pet Friendly. Dogs up to 25lbs are welcome at the PPH. We do charge a Pet Fee of $50 for the first night, $25 for subsequent nights. Service Animals are not subjected to the pet fee, but we do charge a one time cleaning fee of $50 to cover steam cleaning out of respect for subsequent guests who may be allergic to pet dander. Thanks for asking!
Pia Brenan , GM
Good Morning,
The Hotel does not have a separate restaurant. You might be thinking of Park Plaza Gardens next door, but they have separate owners, and have been closed for almost a year. On a separate note, we serve a small Continental Breakfast up to your room as part of your stay. Hot Coffee of Tea, Orange Juice and nice warm Croissant with butter and jam!
Thanks for your question
Pia Brenan, GM
We are going back for a second visit next Monday. The staff is wonderful and we wouldn't stay anywhere else in Winter Park. They are committed to making things right.
Good Morning Triangler2,
Unfortunately we do not offer a Shuttle Service from the Park Plaza Hotel, but we would be more than happy to assist you with Taxi or Town Car arrangements if need be. Please let us know what we can do for you.
Sincerely,
Pia Brenan
