Nestled in a tranquil, natural setting, The Lodge at Wakulla Springs is celebrated by many guests for its nostalgic ambiance and period charm. The hotel's boat tours and historic allure are well-regarded, though the lack of modern amenities like TV and Wi-Fi is noted. Travelers consistently praise the exquisite cleanliness of both rooms and public areas. While the rooms' historic character is appreciated, some guests suggest that the addition of contemporary comforts could improve the experience. The staff's professionalism and friendliness frequently enhance guest stays, contributing to the Lodge's reputation for excellent value.

The park location offers hiking/biking trails, beach, bird watching and a very peaceful boat tour through "real Florida." We enjoyed every minute and are planning how to return with our adult children and grandchildren. The dining room at the Lodge was a special joy, with a range of food to cover lunch and dinner and all of it was super fresh, flavorful and very reasonably priced. The cost of park admission was taken off of our dining bill for an added nice touch.

The Lodge is very interesting in that it retains it's original feel from the 1930s. It is very clean and well maintained. HInt: Pay a little extra for a room and receive a $35 credit toward dinner in the dining room. The dining room is spacious and the food is reasonably priced and excellent. Take a look at the world's longest granite bar, 70 feet, in the gift shop/lunch counter area. And take a ride on the oldest elevator in Florida. The highlight of any visist to Wakulla Springs is the 50 minute boat ride on the Wakulla River. It features the largest spring in the world, Old world Florida with all the flora and fauna you could imagine and truly great tour guides to relate all the history.

The Lodge is a chance to stay in a charming authentic 1930s hotel, go to sleep to the sound of nature and be woken by birdsong in a wonderful location. When we visited the spring and river were clear and the boat trip was outstanding: fish, turtles, numerous species of birds, alligators and manatees all in 30 mins. The easy 9 mile trail was a good chance to stretch our legs after a few days in the car. If you do take the trail, take plenty of water and check for ticks. (We came back with plenty, despite wearing long trousers and sleeves.)Staff are friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommend.

I hate to write this review because I don't want too many people to discover and ruin this place. Though I've been coming here for more than 40 years so maybe I shouldn't worry so much.

In a day and age when so many lodging experiences are so monotone, impersonal and unmemorable the Lodge at Wakulla Springs is a joy to behold. During this Covid madness I have gotten desperate to get my children out of the house and off of their connected internet devices. I want them to experience life as it is happening around them, not just in their eyes and mind. And there could be no better place to do that than here at the Lodge. Nothing has changed in decades. The rooms are still utterly peaceful and timelessly decorated. No TVs still. (though they do have wifi!)

The building is a historic masterpiece, the surroundings majestic in their natural beauty and healing properties and the restaurant, though certainly showing signs of neglect, still produces a wonderful and affordable menu of standbys that were utterly satisfying after a long day of driving. I don't think I've ever had a more enjoyable Old Fashioned cocktail.

Please enjoy and respect this wonderful institution. My 9 year old daughter exclaimed that when she has children 'this is the first hotel I'm going to take them to'. I pray that the opportunity still exists for her when that time comes.

Completely in love with this place! We came for the boat tour, had a young ranger/captain who brought a guitar and played a song he wrote about Wakulla Springs, so lovely. We saw 2 manatees and several baby alligators (!) and ~a hundred birds. Water was so clear that we could easily see so deep. We couldn't dine in at the restaurant because we didn't reserve before we came, so we had food (decent sandwiches and a few beers) at the gift shop. It's a busy shop but the young staffs and the lady behind the counter are friendly and very efficient. It must be so nice to come here for a bbq or bike ride/trail walk in any season except summer.

What a lovely place to stay. Period music plays in the main areas, no television in the rooms , rooms furnished so you feel like you are at your Grammas circa 1920’s. Fun soda fountain made from one huge piece of marble serving shakes and floats. Dining room was not expensive and had good choice of entrees and generous wine pours. Lobby has DVD player to watch Creature from Black Lagoon which was filmed there.
Fascinating boat tour on the springs- we saw at least 20 gators but kind of lost count. One manatee. Excellent narration, beautiful waters, great for birding. Swimming is available also but water is just 69 degrees.
Overall this is a lovely relaxing place bro spend a day or two.

Located in a stat park, this lodge has unique location. It feels like going back to the 1930, when this hotel was actually built. Experiencing a Florida wilderness thats absolute the opposite of the Miami scene. A boat tour on the Wakulla river is an must, to see Manatees, Gators and a variety of birds.
The lodge's built 1930 and kept all of its charm. Only the bathroom fixtures could stand updating. The dining room was the highlight. Great southern food in super sized portions, served by friendly and efficient waitresses and all at reasonable prices.

My 12yo son told me he wanted to see manatees, so I googled the closest place to us in upstate SC. This is the place that came up and boat ride tickets were only $11/ea, so I booked it without any hesitation. We got there, just expecting to ride a boat for an hour and move on. Man, we were so surprised at how awesome this place was!

They have multiple diving platforms to swim in the springs, one even had a double deck and you can jump off the top one right over the spring! The water was so refreshing and we ended up having such a special family day.

To see that level of excitement in my 12yo was amazing. I highly recommend to anyone and I, personally, can’t wait to come back!

When you stay at the lodge you are staying at a historic site. The first floor features the soda fountain/ gift shop, the large lobby with a fireplace and plenty of seating and the dining room. We enjoyed ice cream cones at the soda fountain which also has lunch choices for those who visit for the day or for those who want a snack lunch. The gift shop has a large selection of items.

The dining room is open for breakfast and later for lunch and dinner. We thought the menu had a good variety.

All rooms are on the second floor which can be reached by the stairs or by one of the oldest if not the oldest working elevator in Florida. Take it at least once. Our room at the lodge was of a moderate size. It had a walk in closet, a modern bath, an attractive dresser and end table and adequate lighting. The upholstered chair was somewhat worn and should be replaced or reupholstered. The room was advertised as having a queen sized bed but when we measured it was about 6 inches less in width than a queen size. It was actually full sized. So if you need a larger bed look for a room featuring a king sized bed.

The beautiful setting of the Lodge and Wakulla Springs is refreshing and serene. It is a place of simple natural beauty. The Lodge is a return to another time. We enjoyed the well prepared food in the dining room... We especially loved the boat tour down river to view the plethora of wildlife. The Rangers were great and added much information of the value of preservation of this exquisite ecology and treasure. The Springs are a true wonder.

Yes A.C> in rooms and individually controlled. In the main Lodge and the dining room it's actually cold so bring a sweater or jacket even when it's 90 degrees outside. Not a complaint - believe me. Enjoy
