Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a horrid place. Don’t waste your money. Bed had dirty stinking pillows. Revolting. Couldn’t put my head on them. No batteries in remote control. Wi-fi didn’t work. Word of advice - Don’t advertise it if you can’t provide it!!! Barefooted owner/Manager said it was because it was ‘cloudy’. Really. He deserves a shout out for ‘The rudest, most unhelpful person in the USA’ so - congratulations Sir. Woke up with cockroach next to me on the bedside table. See pic. Lovely - not. Everything was below par. Half eaten mouldy food was sitting on an old barbecue outside the room when we arrived and was still there when we (thankfully) left the next day. No way would we stay another night in that disgusting place. Would rather sleep in the car.

Only stay here if you want tenth-rate service and an overall miserable customer experience. Checked in for one night and the owner seemed puzzled I didn’t own American ID. As he stared at my UK Drivers License I pointed out this might be because I’m not American. We eventually got in the room. Dated but acceptable for $95 + tax - until we found that the promised ‘wifi’ didn’t work. I went to see the owner and he insisted it worked ‘fine’ and was reluctant to re-set his router. He also suggested the weather might be the problem (on a summer day). However unless we stood at the motel room door, there was no wi-fi whatsoever. Next, I discovered there were no batteries in the TV remote control and the owner once again regarded me suspiciously, as though I travel around America removing batteries from remote controls in crap motels. He continued to insist the wi-fi worked fine. In short, for $95 plus tax, a terrible, soul-sucking experience with a useless, unhelpful host. I cannot say it too clearly : avoid this dismal place at all costs.

This exquisite hotel offered the real feel of an authentic 1930s home with bonus features:
- Live critters on the bedside table gave you that "One with Nature" feel without having to travel far
- Openings in walls and shower gave you unique views of the interior and helped illustrate the natural character of the hotel
- One couldn't help but connect with the deep post modern look of the artwork hung offset and upside down for a Picasoesque style
- Clever wiring allowed for easy install of ones own smoke detector
- Open wall sockets gave a charming do it yourself feel to installing fixtures and anything one could imagine
- Bathroom was a fantastic impression of the post modern USSR with realistic markings and efficient shower install
- Bedding reminded one of Grandma's home untouch and not restored with since you were first born
- Wide open window view gave open look and connection with strangers passing by
- Rumble of the restrooms after flushing gave exciting full room message and quaint homely character

Overall I would highly recommend for the discerning traveler looking for a robust stay with plenty of character.

Me and my husband stayed here during hurricane Dorian. Rooms are recently remodeled - nice. No dirty carpet but wooden floor, non smoking, everything was clean, TV, internet, quiet air conditioner, vending machine, ice maker.

Where do I start, oh yes stayed for parents weekend FSU football 9/22/18. First this place should be inspected by building and zoning for several reasons one being mold coming through freshly painted walls and ceiling with visible leaks and bubbling paint. How about a prostitute calling the room at 1:30 am? How about no interior security locks or latches of any kind and wait, your room has a normal key that must have at least one hundred copies floating around. Let me say this I slept with my Glock on my chest in case a toothless wonder happened to come in with their own key. Yes we had some of those crack head types staying there as well. The topper, no hot water yes no hot water. When I asked about it the lady told me the others may have used it up, then she said its hot outside so you really don't need it hot. I got scammed $199.00 per night for this Amityville nightmare. I ended up at a real hotel the next day and learned a lesson. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH & LIFE!!!!!

I rarely write reviews on hotels but had to do this one. Yes, you can't expect much when the price is low BUT there still is the expectation of getting something for your dollar. There are definitely bugs in the rooms and the furniture is old. What made the visit worse is when we complained of the bugs and the desk clerk came inside the room for proof he didn't think the two bugs in the sink and on the bed were that bad. Then when I knocked one bug off my wife's shoulder that was still insufficient evidence. Of course now we were not allowed to switch rooms because they were booked up...its 11 pm and they have 8 empty rooms.Thankfully we brought our own sheets to endure this indoor camping trip.

I booked this hotel through Hotwire expecting a 3 star hotel. As soon as a pulled up, I knew it would 3 star. Arrived late at night, no turning back. First room had a bug running across the night stand. Asked for another room. This room, let me list, broken door lock, broken heat-a/c unit, un-finished broken sink counter, no hot water, hair in bathroom and on the tub, electrical outlets didn't work and the tv wasn't operational. Hotwire, take this off your listings. Don't stay here!!

The rooms are 100% better than what they were.
The company is different. The places closeby are great for accessing a good breakfast as well as the library and Capitol.
There bathtubs are awesome, like I actuall feel submerged and have legroom to stretch...those are bright spots.
Now, the cable package is kind of basic. The television set itself had to be manually turnt on and the volume had to be manually adjusted versus what the remote control did do....and that was make the channels change. The sink water was questionable in quality. I've drinken water all over the place, and this tapwater was not awesome.

This charming little spot offers tremendous value added to the traveler's experience. For example:

*Lack of maintenance budget and low quality standards allow the savings to be passed on to the customer.
*Ultra-modern interior decor, including exposed wiring, invisible smoke detector, and industrial finishing touches in the bathroom's metal-clad walls.
*No extra fees for fleas
*Bespoke sheets with unique hole and stain patterns.

5/5 stars would buy again
