Detailed Reviews
This hotel is right in college town so it’s close to both campus and the capitol. Check in was quick. Everyone was wearing masks. Room was a mini suite.
Free breakfast was included but you can walk across the street to Greenwise market for any provisions or light meals.
The hotel charges $15 for Parking and were really stingy with amnesties (one tiny bar of soap for both the shower and sink!). Room was clean but shower curtain was moldy which was gross.
I’d stay here again as hotels in Tallahassee are really not great in general. Location was great and the price $128 a night was great. During non-Covid /busy times the rates are usually much higher.

I was very impressed with the staff when I arrived, very friendly, and courteous. The check in process was quick and painless.
When I got to the room, it too, was very nice. A mini-suite on the top floor (upgraded, thanks staff) with a kitchenette including a full size refrigerator, dishwasher, coffee maker, etc. I was there for only one night, so I only took advantage of the coffee.
Getting ready for bed the shower was a bit weak, but I cannot fault the hotel, that is likely a requirement from the city. The television in the bedroom (another in the living room that I didn't use) was quite large and had the typical assortment of channels I expected.
I should have, however, figured that something was up when there was a pair of complementary eye shades and ear plugs. I had never seen anything like that offered at similar hotels. When I turned out the lights, there was very little light leakage around the curtains, but the sound was straight out of Time Square. That's where the ear plugs came were pretty much required. These were very nice ear plugs as far as those things go (I enjoy firearms, so I have some experience with noise reduction). The A/C was very quiet, so it didn't have the volume to drown out the street noise.
I asked my business partner, who was on the other wing of the hotel, if he had the same amenity in his room, but no, he did not. Therefore, I assume the hotel knows that there is a noise issue in these rooms. I would also assume the rooms on the other side of the hall do not have the same issue as they front the parking lot, not the street.
I would most definitely stay at this hotel again due to the staff, room and facility quality, but would ask for an odd numbered room (facing parking lot) or one in the lower end of the number range, to the right as you exit the elevator.
Oh, and the breakfast buffet (included) was as expected with friendly staff and clean dining area.

Dear dlc44444, Thank you for the wonderful comments regarding our great amenities and most importantly the hospitality provided by our staff. We were most disappointed to hear of your negative experience due to outside neighborhood noise. It is true we are located on the corner of Gaines and Railroad Ave. To be exact, we are located about one block to the north of the railroad. Typically, the trains keep a very irregular schedule, and on occasion, they can pass through overnight. The whistleblowing in the distance can be a little disruptive to some that are light sleepers. Despite the occasional neighborhood noise, many of our travelers choose our hotel because of our great location and excellent service. We hope you will accept our apologies as we completely understand this level of 24/7 activity may not be for everyone. We would like another opportunity to have you return so we may show you all that our wonderful neighborhood has to offer! Keith Hoogerheyde General Manager

Stayed there for one night in May 2020 visiting my child at college. The hotel was adjusting to major COVID-19 precautions and doing a good job, however it was hard to judge many amenities since the common areas as well as some of the kitchen implements in my room had been removed. The Free Breakfast was reduced in order to limit exposure as well. It is a non-smoking hotel but the first room I was given was very smoky, but they promptly moved me, no problem. Staff was very nice and trying very hard. There is surface parking in their lot directly behind the lobby.

i used to stay here quite often when there were not as many choices in tallahassee. tried it again last two visits and wont be back. convenient location but very noisy rooms no matter where you are in the hotel because traffic in this area has exploded with the additional development in the vicinity. front desk staff thinks they are doing you a favor when they check you in so imagine the attitude when you actually have a request. and they have hidden fees like parking and pets. its pet friendly, if charging an extra $100+ per night and burying that fee waaaay down in the details means friendly. too many other good choices in town to give your money to this place

Dear crh2, Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We were very disappointed to hear about your negative experience, and we hope you will accept our apologies for these disruptions. We are located directly adjacent to the 50,000 student FSU campus, 1/2 mile from the Doak Campbell Stadium, directly across the street from the 15,000 seat Tucker Center Arena, and surrounded by luxury student housing complexes. This mix of high energy creates a very young and active 24/7 vibe in our eclectic little neighborhood! Our area is the preferred destination for evening dining and entertainment in the Tallahassee area. There are dozens of options, many within walking distance and most with live evening entertainment. We completely understand this level of activity is not for everyone. We hope you were able to rest, relax and recharge during your brief stay at our hotel. Please accept our sincere apologies for the disruptions and any unresponsiveness from our staff. Striving to create memorable travel experiences for every guest is always our top priority; therefore, we hope to have a second opportunity the next time your travels bring you to the Tallahassee area. We look forward to seeing you soon. Keith Hoogerheyde General Manager

No sleep til 2am, thanks to street noise. They badly need new high quality windows. We did not hear noise from neighboring rooms or above, which is unusual and appreciated. Room was decent, bed comfortable (maybe not if you like a firm mattress though), pull-out sofa bed not comfortable with squeaky springs, shower hot/good pressure, mostly clean (a few stray hairs and some mildew), breakfast average/coffee terrible (weak), in-room coffee must have been very old (also not good), we asked for extra coffee for the room and never got it, staff minimally cordial. TV remote not user friendly, may have needed new batteries but we were not there long enough to really care. Good location for FSU events, but not if you want to be well rested. Next time we will sacrifice convenience and stay farther out from town.

Hello MCKWCK, First and foremost, we would like to thank you for your patronage and for taking the time to share such descriptive feedback. We would like to apologize for falling short of your expectations, but also share our assurances that we will work with our team regarding the issues you encountered with your room and our breakfast offerings. We also hope you will accept our apology on behalf of our city. We are actively working with local business partners, city leadership, and local law enforcement for a solution to the disruptive level of noise you experienced. Specifically, the city of Tallahassee’s leadership is copied for their continued awareness of the severity of the issues caused for our guests by the high level of unabated noise in the Gaines St. area. We hope they will soon find a permanent resolution to the situation. We remain confident in their concern for the visitors to the FSU campus and our capital city. Ensuring a positive experience during their stay in our beautiful, vibrant, and active neighborhood is our shared priority. If you are able to visit in the future, we hope you will request a room on the other side of our hotel. Thank you once more. Keith Hoogerheyde General Manager

Whenever I visit Tallahassee on business I usually stay at a hotel property near Capital Circle. As it turned out the Residence Inn near the campus of FSU was the best choice. The staff at this property could not be nicer or more helpful. My only suggestion is that if you are a light sleeper you should ask for a room facing the parking lot. All of the rooms are very nicely appointed and very, very clean.

We are Marriott Platinum Elite and always stay here when available. We were surprised when there were earplugs and eye masks on our nightstands 2nd floor facing the street was a disaster we have not slept well 2 days later and were never told this was the worst room in the hotel.
I brought my bathing suit for the jacuzzi because weather was supposed to be amazing.
Jacuzzi was dirty full of bugs and the jets did not work.
Even the fireplace pilot was on and not light up for us at night.
We are so disappointed!

I thought subwoofers in the trunks of cars were a "thing" in the late 90s and early 2000s. Wrong! Spend a night at this very adequate Marriott property and you'll be treated to thump, thump, thump from 11 pm until 3 am. This weary Texas traveler could use a little more cowbell...

Other reviews identify the issues here
Street noise
Rooms outdated
Service issues
Upon checking in and walking to my room I found my bedroom window on the floor and the room was completely open to the outside. I was on the 3rd floor or would have been concerned that an intruder was in the room.
I was able to put the window back in place but asked for, and was granted, a different room.
While the location and lobby make this seem like a cost affordable option I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you can stay elsewhere like DoubleTree, aloft or hotel Duval.

I would probably do a 2.5 rating. I realize this is a difficult time for the hospitality industry. We have never been able get into this hotel due to the proximity to FSU. We thought we lucked out this time. The only thing this hotel has going for it, is that you can walk to campus. The hallway smells like a wet dog. We quickly moved from our first room because the pull out bed was soiled. They brought the new room keys to us very quickly. The second room (same as first) was very "tired". The kitchen sink clogged and the disposal didn't work. We were not there to cook so ultimately that didn't matter, but it was nice having a second sink while we were getting ready for bed, since there was three of us trying to use the one bathroom sink. Couldn't really use the kitchen one. The dresser drawer in the bedroom wouldn't stay shut. We weren't using that but since there isn't much room to walk between the dresser and the bed, you would hit your leg on it every time you would walk by. The sink in the bathroom wouldn't drain either. The toilet clogged up so we stopped using it because we thought it might overflow. Sadly, the reviews on the noise are accurate. There wasn't any bar noise or partying (due to school closure) but the screeching cars all night long was not pleasant. The noise from the street is too much. Maybe a room over the "courtyard" would have been better. Even with our noise machines it was tough to sleep. The alarm clock in the room was set to 5 am, (not our doing) so after a difficult night sleep that's what time we were woken up for the day. All and all the hotel is just OK. It's in need of a make over. Again, the only thing going for this place is the ability to walk to campus. The other two Marriott properties near FSU are much nicer overall.

Call the hotel. They have a daily parking fee for guest.
Janet Lang,
This is no weight limit for pets at our location. There is a $100 per stay pet cleaning fee for any suite that has a pet occupant. The fee is used by our housekeeping team to restore the pet occupied room to the original state. An extra deep clean to remove the pet dander that can cause issue for some. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Kind Regards,

Christina,
We are located adjacent to the FSU campus in the up and coming Arts / Entertainment District of Tallahassee. We are a downtown location with many options within walking distance to the hotel. Our surrounding neighborhood is a mix of retail, restaurants, night clubs and several thousand FSU students living in luxury student housing complexes. Most of our guests choose our hotel because they prefer our location. We offer shuttle services departing at the top of the hour from the hotel between the hours of 8a to 10p. We service the Airport arrivals upon demand, for pick up after you have gathered your baggage you may call the hotel main number and step to the ground transportation curb. The van will service the entire FSU campus, the capitol complex, the FL Dept of Education (Turlington Building), the FAMU Campus as well as Innovation Park.
Hope that helps to answer all your questions!
Best Regards,
Keith Hoogerheyde
