Detailed Reviews
The hotel is brand new so everything is modern and fresh. The location is convenient but entry to the hotel isn't. There is basically one way in and out. Parking is $30 a day which is a bit high for an AC hotel in Tallahassee. The rooms are somewhat basic but clean and new. You can hear noise from outside including the train so you may want to bring headphones. I expected the hotel to have more offerings because of the unique location. I would have liked to see more ice machines and a restaurant. Also, there is no pool. However there are 2 restaurants nearby that you can walk to. I was surprised to find that the housekeeping had the best service even better than the front desk where the tone was somewhat lukewarm. All of the housekeepers that I interacted with smiled and said hello every time and asked if there was anything I needed. I did not get the same from front desk or valet staff or any other staff really. We did have an issue with the toilet but maintenance came and fixed it. Overall it's a beautiful property but it is in the new stage where they need time to work on some things. It is in a good location close to the colleges and capital.
Travel Hack: If you don't mind walking you can find public parking for cheaper or for free near the hotel.

Dear Dynamitetravel, Thank you for being our guest at AC Hotel Tallahassee Universities at the Capitol. It is a pleasure to know how much you enjoyed our brand new property as well as our convenient location. We are also delighted to know you received outstanding service from our housekeeping team, and they exceeded your expectations and took great care of you. However, please accept our apologies for the noise disturbances you experienced from nearby guests. We are disappointed that we were not aware of these concerns, as we would have been happy to try and resolve the issue or move you to another room. In the future, please know our front desk staff is always available to help you make most of your stay. We also regret your disappointment with our parking fees. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to see you again soon. Keith Hoogerheyde General Manager

My husband was traveling through Tallahassee for work, and I decided to go with him. This is a beautiful hotel near the Capitol. It is clean and trendy with a minimalistic feel. All of our interactions with their front desk employees was excellent. The bed was comfortable and the amenities upscale. We especially enjoyed a delicious breakfast in their beautiful indoor/outdoor cafe ($20 per person without coffee, but they do offer Starbucks coffee and lattes). The hotel is adjacent to Cascades Park which I really enjoyed. The only problem we experienced was the location of our room on the seventh floor - it was directly beneath the rooftop bar. Fortunately, the bar closes around 11:00 pm. For Marriott members, I did ask for a Platinum Elite upgrade but was told there was not anything available. The hotel did not appear to be at capacity. We used the adjacent parking deck rather than the valet because we felt it gave us faster access to our car.

We arrived around 11:00 pm local time after a long day of driving. We are Marriott Rewards members and chose this property based on reviews, ratings, and pictures. Checkin process was great and the associate at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. A short time after we were in the room, we began hearing loud music and a lot of loud voices. Looked outside our window to the floor below and could see a lot of people on the balcony below us. It went on for a while and I called the front desk to report the noise and was told they would send security to that room. It got a little quieter for a short time and then got much louder. After about another 20 minutes went by, I called the desk again, and was told they would send security again. Another 15 minutes or so went by and the voices and music were still so loud. It was so loud, it sounded as if it were all coming from inside our own room. I called a third time to the hotel operator. By this time, they were tired of hearing from me and I could tell this from the way she spoke back to me. I was told the noise was not coming from the room below us, but it was coming from the roof top bar of the hotel & there was nothing they could do about the noise. It’s now 12:30am & the bar doesn’t close until 2:00am. So we were not able to sleep until after 2:00am and had to get up early to be back on the road again. If you plan to stay at this hotel, request a room away from the rooftop bar unless you’re ok with being awake until after it closes. It was a clean hotel and our room had a pretty view, but overall I’m very disappointed in our stay at this hotel. We were so tired and looking forward to a good nights rest that we never got.

Dear Kharaktor, Thank you for being our recent guest and sharing your experience. We're truly sorry you were inconvenienced by the noise from our rooftop bar. Our open-air lounge offers an expansive view of the City, and some dining guests can become exuberant at times. We want every guest to have a superb experience at our hotel, and we understand that everyone's enjoyment is unique. We continually seek to improve our guest experience, so we are grateful for your feedback and patience. Should you stay with us again, and we hope you will, we encourage you to request a room that's more insulated from the revelry on our rooftop. We look forward to seeing you again. The hotel was recommended as the primary option for a wedding. The reservation was made directly with the hotel has required. The reservation involved 3 rooms to include one for my wife and I, our younger daughter and our older daughter who is 7 months pregnant and traveling without her husband. I informed the agent of our concerns and specifically requested the rooms be on the same floor. Much to our surprise upon checking in we were on the 4th, 6th and 7th floor. When expressing this concern to the front desk upon check-in we were told there was nothing they could do as they were fully booked. A requested to speak with the manager but was told there was not a manager on site at that time but they would have somebody contact me the next morning. 2 days later when checking out I once again commented to the same clerk that I had not heard a word from anyone and she once again told me she would have somebody contact me about the reservation. Well, 2 days later I have yet to hear a word from anyone.
Under a separate reservation made by my brother he had requested a connecting room for our 91-year-old mother. At least they were on the same floor but at opposite ends of that floor.
Apparently making a reservation directly with the hotel, well in advance I might add, means nothing. I would have thought that a block reservation for the event such as a wedding would have some consideration. We are in the process of finalizing details for our younger daughter's wedding and after this experience will consider a Marriott product as a host hotel.
Our room was small and intended for hearing impaired. Our 2 daughters rooms were wheelchair accessible and because of this the clothing rack was very low. Either daughter could even hang their dress as the hanging space was so low. Once again not very thoughtful for a reservation intended for a wedding.

Had a very nice first stay here and I think this will be our new go-to hotel for FSU football games. Although there isn’t much in the way of drawer storage for clothes, there is plenty of space to set out your suitcase or things, as well as an area to hang clothes. Loved the walk-in shower, all the charging outlets and all the lighting options. The bed slept comfortably and all the bed and bath linens were nice. There is a coffee maker and a small fridge in the room, as well as a large tv that offers select streaming services. Natasha checked us in, and our room was ready early. Everything looked very clean except for few things in the bathroom, so Renee, the housekeeping supervisor, immediately came to our room to address those items and she was very apologetic. The location of this hotel is really great because it’s right in Cascades Park, which has an amphitheater with concerts on select Friday nights, as well as a few restaurants and bars. Also, it’s about a 1.3 mile walk to Doak Campbell stadium, which is very convenient on busy football weekends.

The bar manager is a rude and unprofessional. She seems like she’s a very unhappy person. She failed to greet us as were coming into the venue for the first time. She monitored us with the help of the one short height, female security guard on the clock. Sherry targeted and harassed my family and friends all night about taking selfies and photos in the lobby, stairwell and in the bar area. When we were eating, the bar manager Sherry watched us. When we laughed, Sherry watched us. We decided to leave early than expected because we did not appreciate being monitored. We felt very uncomfortable and were being watched by her all night. There were moments where we did not take any photos and Sherry kept her eyes on us. So, it didn’t matter what we were doing, Sherry gave us the impression consistently through the evening that she didn’t want us to be there.
We’ve traveled and visited many hotels throughout Florida, and never had any issues with taking photos until we encountered this hotel. I do not recommend this hotel for the following reasons: expensive and overpriced food, rude and unprofessional management, and the bathroom in the diamond suite was dirty and unclean.
The AC Marriott is only convenient for seasonal events in Tallahassee and is overrated and expensive due to its location. It does not get a lot of traffic. If it continues to go down this path while people like Sherry is there, the hotel will not thrive or be successful.

This is a newer hotel, well located in Tallahassee. It has a minimalist decor. Only one small hanging rod and two small drawers in a king room. No porter to help getting bags to and from room. Valet staff is helpful but at $35.00 per night they should at least park the car indoors. Trouble using automated reservation system that erroneously said wedding block was sold out. Left messages but no one returned the calls. The front desk staff, except one woman on the evening shift, were clueless. Tried to find out how Tally marathon would impact streets around the hotel. Two women at the front desk did not know and did not inquire despite my request that they do so.

I really like the hotel. Very nice with excellent staff (a bit short staffed of course). My biggest complaint is that we asked the front desk about housekeeping at 11 AM when we left for several hours. When we got back to the hotel at 4, no housekeeping. I called and ask and was told not to worry. At 11 PM when we returned, no housekeeping. We asked for fresh towels. After awhile I gave up and went to the front desk and got a fresh set of towels. None were every delivered. At the highway robbery prices they charge on special weekends, I think they should have done better.
I’ll stay there again, but they can do better.
PS: the staff at the bar was great. Totally understaffed, but hard working and friendly.

The AC is one of the better hotels in the area. Ok bar, though totally understaffed (and has been for a long time). And $30 for the Rombauer Chardonnay (9 oz glass) is crazy.
Good access to Charlie Park and The Edison.
$40 valet seems out of touch in Tally. Park across the street in the garage @ $2/hour.
Worst thing about the hotel is that when you are paying $600/night plus tax (surge pricing on football Friday/Saturday) you expect more. Sure it is price gouging but nice hotels are hard to find in Tally. I expect small things to be free, and some are - though I can’t think of any. Bottled water is NOT. You get two bottles in your room at check in and that’s it. No restocking. Then if you go buy water in the lobby it is. like you are in an airport. They charge $4 (plus tax) for a standard bottle of water in the lobby. Come on Marriott, you should figure that one out. Plus, no free lobby coffee either.
Premium pricing plus Nickel and dime.
I will reluctantly stay there again but constantly seek out better options.

This is a great hotel. It is literally part of a park so you can walk out the door and be someplace beautiful. It is tucked in to a busy little area, however, so don't count on getting a street parking space for free!
The rooms are comfortable and modern and very no-nonsense, which is my vibe. The bar has huge windows which open and overlook the outdoor space, a very pleasant place to get a bite and a drink.
I left thinking this will be my new "always stay here" place in Tallahassee.
Fast forward a few weeks and I went to book in June (graduation) and was horrified to learn that the room is literally 10x as much as I paid. I know rooms fluctuate in price based on demand, but this egregious markup makes me want to vomit. Shame on them.
