Our experience at the Marriott Hutchinson Island was a mixed bag. The grounds and surrounding scenery were absolutely beautiful. The hotel itself needs updating. We were prepared to experience the age of the hotel and the lack of updated rooms because of reviews online. However, there were some experiences that were disappointing. There was construction at the beach location which created confusion about where to go to access the pool and beach and the hotel keys did not work to allow entrance to the pool/beach area at the Sandpiper location. There was no service staff to help with entrance, nor with umbrellas or chairs on the beach. At the pool area of the main hotel, food had been delivered to a family and was never cleared away attracting a swarm of birds which knocked the scraps of fries and sandwiches to the ground for at least 30 minutes after the family left. There was no effort to check once the food had been delivered, but once reported to the Tiki staff it was cleaned up immediately. The property denotes that they are a non-smoking property but a guest was openly smoking at the pool. She was not asked to stop by any hotel staff. The restroom by the pool was also in bad shape early in the morning. The clerk working at the pool was very attentive and had towels ready, cleaned the pool deck in the morning and when told about the restrooms needing to be cleaned assured us that they would be taken care of. With some better training and a greater attention to the details that make a stay special, the hotel is a place we would return to.

First, I appreciate that with the pandemic, things are tough all round. Otherwise, I'd have given a worse grade. Next, there are two facilities here: main (less expensive) hotel and beachside (at least twice as expensive) "condo" like. This review is about the condo type facility and the supporting main hotel.

We were very welcomed by the front desk with good info about restaurants, the shuttle and resort features. It went downhill from there.

Our room was supposed to be "ocean view" and really was not (it overlooked the pool). I called back (remember, different facility, it's a short drive) and was told that there were no upgrades but for more $$ I could upgrade. I decided to do that and it was not worth it. The bedroom was so small "you'd have to leave the room to change" and the doors into the bathroom got in the way of getting into the bathroom. AC sounded like a leaf blower. Some partial view of the ocean. Hallways are darkly painted and without any lights on, it's dark during the day (til about 8pm when lights come on). Cost savings? Just seems weird. The rooms were clean-ish. Both the original room and the upgraded one had a big brown stain n the carpet. As it's pet friendly, I can only imagine.

Pool was supposed to be open 7am to 10pm then "quiet hours" Yeah- no. People in the pool til after midnight with no hotel staff to do anything about that. There was no food facility at this location and the Baja Grill at the main hotel was closed so you would have to find something offsite.

Finally: for a resort, you'd expect amenities. You know, shampoo and conditioner, tissues, coffee. There were none in the room. Coffee maker, Tissue box cover but nada. For the price, this fell way short. Pick another place.

We had a two night stay at this resort but some amenities that were listed were limited. We arrived on a Thursday and after checking in were told that the restaurants and tiki bars closed at 4 pm. Friday we enjoyed a beautiful round of golf on the executive course. Well kept up and very friendly staff. Spent the day at the beach and had lunch at the tiki bar there. Pricey but good with good drinks. Now this is available to hotel guests but these are time shares I believe that are close to the beach so we had to take a shuttle. Went back to the pool at our hotel and although we were told the hotel restaurant was open, we were told that night that it was the Tiki Bar menu. We were hoping for something more dinner-like so were getting ready to clean up and go to a nearby restaurant to find there was no hot water—-anywhere! Called the desk and evidently a boiler had broken and they were trying to get it fixed. Ended up going off site after a day of golfing in 90 degree weather, sunscreen on at beach and pool with no shower. Received note of problem under door sometime in the night and said it would be fixed sometime in the morning. We left around 9 am and it hadn’t been fixed. I did contact the manager about all of the issues and he was very gracious and helpful. He adjusted our bill and also offered to give us another night stay in exchange if we wanted that. I felt bad but didn’t want to spend that kind of money to not have the basic services one expects at a hotel stay. I was told that Marriott is working on updating their sites as to what is available but just to be sure I would call ahead and ask specifics to know what to expect.
At least it is good that the manager understood our frustration and although we had a great full day there on Friday, the evening and the rest of the night was wasted and we had to leave the next day.

Sold as a resort. Looks great at first look. My wife and I made reservation based on description. So what went wrong. They booked the entire hotel. So you say... so what. They booked the majority of hotel to a softball tournament which meant thousands of kids who took over the place. Marriott made no attempt to control the situation. Guests like my wife and I were unimportant to hotel management. They told you to wear masks. No one wore masks, certainly not the kids who touch every surface, overtook the swimming pool and pool area until midnight, and guests were allowed to eat around pool even though we were told that was not permitted. No free breakfast; breakfast in their grill started at $18 for scrambled eggs or omelette. The rooms were not quite modernized yet. So, there was a smell of typical pool or beach use. They do not clean the rooms during your stay due to COVID. My guess is that in order to keep rooms filled the cleaning of rooms even before arrival is sparse at best. Finally, the desk help made you feel like they “got you”. I went down to Lobby where I typically do for coffee in early morning. None in site. Lobby person told me they don’t do that, but if I wanted a cup I could either get one from my room or go to the restaurant. I would not stay here. That is unless you played softball

I usually stay at marriott’s 25 nights /year (and a loyal member). when I travel. This one was particularly disappointing. When looking at the website you see the hotel on the beach on the water and I opted for a room with a resort view. It was not inexpensive but close enough to the water that it made it worthwhile for me. I was shocked when I drove into the hotel that was right off the highway!!! When I got my room with the resort view it was of the parking lot and the highway hardly anything green. I complained and they were able to put me on a first-floor room looking at the pool which of course was noisy speaker right outside the room that music didn’t turn off until after 10 PM.

It was the next morning when I learned that you could walk or have a shuttle down to the beach that I saw they hotel that has been in most of the photos the backs of it had resort views so I was confused by that wouldn’t classify but at that point it was a moot point there are many other hotels around that you could stay out for less money and still drive for a walk down to the public beach. Being duped i not a great way to engage your customers

We arrived at the hotel and we quickly checked in. We were given some suggestions for dinner at local restaurants which we did try. We opted not to have our room cleaned in light of Covid. The next day we stopped at the front desk asking for extra toilet paper, soap, shampoo etc. I was given an attitude by the front desk people saying in essence you just checked in yesterday and you need more things! This was embarrassing to say the least. We had been to two Marriott Vacation Club resorts prior to coming to Hutchinson Island. We were not treat as poorly as this hotel treated us. So we decided that whenever we needed supplies we would ask the lady who cleans the room. She was much more respectful than the front desk people were. We stayed a full week at this hotel so we weren’t stocking up on supplies. Next this hotel is in dire need of a remodeling both inside and out. The rooms have old bathrooms with make shift granite slabs around the tub area which looks cheap. There is a kitchenette but no utensils not even plastic, an old room safe that had the numbers worn off the keypad. The carpet was stained and the balcony roof was rusted. At each end of the outside roof are two round towers. The aluminum soffits are hanging down and you can see years of neglect on the outside as well as the inside of this hotel. I understand that this hotel was sold to a new owner in May 2021, as far as I can see nothing has been updated nor is there any activity showing work being done. This hotel is definitely not up to Marriott’s standards that I am use to. I am a Marriott Timeshare owner and Marriott Bonvoy member so I’m aware of Marriott’s reputation and standards. This hotel does not met them.

Even though you're paying resort prices don't expect a typical Marriott Resort facility. This is the most run down Marriott I have ever experienced and certainly is not up to Marriott standards. Our room had paint peeling off the bathroom door, a cabinet door broken hanging awkwardly, the occasional chair with thread bare arms, the carpet fraying, the desk chair with a rip in the mesh and a hole in the vinyl. Also the track on the sliding door out to the balcony was so corroded that the door was extremely hard to open. This room was one that you might expect to find in a run down motel along some highway not in a Marriott resort location. The only nice thing I can say is the staff was friendly and accommodating. But honestly rather than having someone open the lobby door for me every time I entered or exited, I'd rather had seen people working on a badly needed room facelift. Definitely not on my recommended list.

Let's call a spade of spade. It needs some TLC. There is a main hotel and a beach hotel. The beach hotel is a bit more updated and it is nice to be by the beach. A fresh coat of paint and a little updating would do a world of good. The front desk staff is nice but the real stars are the Food Manager Nicole and her staff. The waitstaff at both of the pools and bars are friendly, attentive, and make the stay enjoyable and pleasant. She is the ONLY manager type you will see and you will see her everywhere. She was very friendly, sweet, professional, and helping people with issues from housekeeping, to marina issues, and checking in with staff. Several guests were shocked when she told someone she would have to get back to them because she was the Food and Beverage Manager. We thought she was the hotel manager.

Recently stayed here for a night and felt ripped off by Marriott and the way their website portrays this "resort" property.

We booked an ocean view room, and while checking in, asked if we could be upgraded to an ocean front room. The woman checking us in said they had some available and would ask her colleague, which then denied the upgrade. I am Titanium Ambassador and I know we are not entitled to an automatic upgrade, but it was an awkward exchange being told by one person that they had a room and the other that they didn't.

We drove to the tower and immediately noticed that the building is in bad shape, with rusted pipes all under the building.

When we got the room, the bedroom was extremely small and faced the walkway. Guests AND staff were constantly yelling outside (guests as late as 2am) and because the Sandpiper tower is open air, the echo was insanely loud and didn't let us sleep. The bed was too soft and felt like an old mattress. The toilet flushed and the water kept running (called the front desk numerous times and nobody picked up so we had to figure out how to rig this ourselves). The shower was also extremely small.

For a hotel charging $400+ a night, we were extremely disappointed and will not be staying here again. I know the quality of stays has gone down since covid began, but this was extremely unacceptable and has nothing to do with a lack of staff which is the go to excuse for properties who underperform.

jgmiami, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate your loyalty and dedication in achieving Titanium Ambassador status, recognizing that this is an accomplishment that requires many nights in hotels throughout the year, we certainly do our best to upgrade when inventory levels allow. The details of your stay will be reviewed with the appropriate departments and will be used as an opportunity for improvements to be made. We hope to be of service the next time your travels bring you to the Stuart area.

I stayed at the Marriott Hutchinson Resort and the pool side latitude bar was the only redeeming service quality. The front off could careless about providing service super nice at checkin but after your in your room your in your own. They don’t answer the phones I waited 15 minutes on the phone to get my call answered it just rang and rang and rang. I ordered Uber eats because it was past 10 and they were not providing room service supposedly due to pandemic however all other Marriott properties are doing some form of service especially at a resort where you pay a daily fee to be there on top of your room rate? Uber eats didn’t provide silver ware, so I called the front desk to ask for plastic wear who told me point blank “ oh we can’t bring that to you but you can walk across the street to cvs” excuse me this is a resort this is unacceptable on any level and have never ever as a platinum member with Marriott been treated with such disrespect and lack of service.” This hotel needs to be audited heavily by Marriott!!
