Our friend recommended this hotel and we could not have been happier. We are from LA, home of D-Land and did not need to combat Disney craziness. You get the lazy river at the JW and when you want a more quite resort feel, you can use the Ritz pool that is surrounded by calm and palms. I found the food at the Kitchen and the buffet at Citron terrific. The Kitchen had great deviled eggs, and a cheddar cheese/tomato bisque entree that was perfect when you first arrive after a long flight. The breakfast buffet was extremely good, when you just want half an eggs benedict and salmon lox bagel with all the fixings, with tender, buttery biscuits with sausage gravy, and a cheddar/scallion scone and more! It was excellent. They also have a town car service that is on site, it's faster, cheaper and nicer than uber or a taxi. We went to ESPN and Disney Springs which were about 15 minutes drive away, same with airport. The rooms were typical of a JW, the carpets at both the JW and Ritz could use updating but overall, I would return and it was a very enjoyable weekend. Orlando is a different planet--orbiting around Disney Madness, but if you want a resort setting that is similar to Palm Desert, this is it.

We were very pleased with the JW. Beautiful grounds, great pool, attentive and friendly staff. The activities available kept our kids busy, there was always something to do, and as a family we especially enjoyed renting canoes and kayaks! We stayed five nights and were told that housekeeping was on request only. That was fine with us, as any time we requested fresh towels they were promptly delivered to our room. The only reason I am knocking a star is because we wanted to use the laundry room and it was impossible to find a change machine or even change from the front desk. The front desk agents went out of their way to find change from the gift shop, restaurants, they even called over to the Ritz Carlton. At minimum, major hotels should have change for a $10 bill if a guest would like to use their laundry facilities. Overall though, a very nice stay, we hope to return in the future.

Stayed for two nights with my family, which includes two teenagers. We barely left the property thanks to the plentiful amenities, which included excellent JW and Ritz pools (each with a different vibe), a real mountain biking trail (bike rental included in resort fee), kayaks (also included in resort fee), tennis, and many games both indoor and outdoor. We ate at the Kitchen and had the breakfast buffet, and both were excellent. The fireworks on Sunday night over Presidents' Day weekend were spectacular.

Proximity to the airport and Disney are quite good. We visited Disney Springs, which was only 15 minutes away. We also appreciated that there's a Walmart nearby and some excellent (and very affordable) restaurants in the plaza next to the Walmart, especially ShouFi Mediterranean Grill which had amazing middle eastern food.

The addition of resort fees at Marriott properties continues to aggravate me. At least we got value for our money, thanks to our use of the amenities. But $30 for self parking on a huge property in Orlando? C'mon guys, that's just egregious.

On the negative side, though our room had a beautiful view over the lake and pool, it was looking rather worn. The furniture is dated, the carpet is really showing its age, and one of the windows was fogged with internal condensation between the window panes; the other window desperately needed an external wash. If they renovate the rooms, we'll definitely be back.

Me and my wife decided to have date night at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes on Aug 14. We arrived around 6pm and check in was extremely fast as no other guest were at the front desk. I was greeted by the front desk attendant. I asked if any room upgrades were available he stated none were available at the time. This was a little odd to me being I checked my mobile device and upgraded rooms were available for me to book online. Once I received my room I entered my room to find a note stating the room had been serviced and cleaned by the Marriott Room Attendant S. As we were unpacking we went to place our beverages into the refrigerator. Once opened we discovered 2-3 small containers of left over food and 1 large container of left over food inside of the refrigerator. As I walk over to call the front desk I discover food crumbs and open tea bags on the floor.
This was really disgusting, unsanitary and totally below the board. I thought maybe I was being pranked or something.
1. JW Marriott advertised that extra precautions were being taken in the midst of the NATIONAL PANDEMIC.
2. The "We've refreshed your room" card was signed by a Marriott Attendant.
3. Food on floor? Left over items in the fridge? This is not acceptable!
My wife immediately washed her hands and we packed our bags. I waited at the door for the front desk rep to come up. He viewed the room and apologized! I begin to question him on how does this happen?A National Pandemic is occurring and cleanliness is a must!
How many more rooms were not really cleaned and sanitized as advertised? He apologized and offered to change our rooms. As we gather our bags ourselves and are walking to another room he offers us an upgraded room? I mentioned that I asked the other front attendant if you had any upgrades available upon check in and he stated no. How do we have upgrades now? At this point the integrity of the front desk reps are in question! As we take the elevator and walk to the new room, the front desk attendant attempts to use a few different keys/cards but none of them would open the new room door. He calls downstairs and he apologizes. Me and my wife are here standing waiting. At this point the customer service level is -10. I inform the attendant I would not be staying the night at this location. I asked for the GM and he informed me they were not on duty tonight. We go downstairs to the front desk to process my refund! We were rebooked at the neighbor hotel. 1.5 hrs later and I can finally unpack, and change for a late dinner!
I informed the front desk that tonight's episode did not create a "raving fan" out of me!!! I asked that he have the GM contact me. Well a week later and I haven't heard from the GM thus the reason I'm writing this review.
I'm really disheartened by the level of service we received and the lack of follow up regarding this situation.
Where is the leadership? What are the true values?

I am writing this review from my hotel room at JW Marriott Grande Lakes. The hotel just reopened and staff say the hotel is is booked at regular capacity, however, they are operating with 1/8 of the normal staff and it shows.

Elevators aren't running, we ordered lunch at the pool at 11am - as soon as they opened and didn't get our food until 12:15pm. It was the same story yesterday.

No housekeeping either which means no clean towels. There isn't enough soap, body wash, shampoo or conditioner for two people My spouse has been on hold with the front desk for over 30 minutes.

They turn the A/C up at night so the room is hot. It's a game most hotels play.

If you're going to open, then open the right way. Don't be greedy and take our money and not offer the service you preach about. We will not be returning.

Reading the review below, I realized that our experiences were very much the same. We booked a suite and 3 others rooms for a family vacation through Marriott reservations, only to arrive to no suite and a king bed room. They said just because I requested a suite does not mean they would have one available...that is NOT what we were told when we booked!

We ended up checking into a single room with a king bed, which was FILTHY! Within walking into the room, I found food left over from the previous guests (M&M’s and food crumbs), a huge wad of hair embedded into the carpet, someone’s dried up contact in the bathroom...the room clearly had not been vacuumed or properly cleaned. I went down and complained and the front desk staff could care less. They did not offer any help. A woman from housekeeping did come up about 45 minutes later (she was very apologetic and lovely) and vacuum the carpet.

I would not come back to this Marriott again. Cleanliness is the most important thing to me when I stay in a hotel, especially during COVID times. I do not feel like the JW Marriott Grande Lakes cares about throughly cleaning their rooms or making sure their guests are happy with their accommodations. It’s a shame because we are Marriott vacation club members and platinum members and we used to think of Marriotts as the gold standard. Not anymore.

Well, we stayed during hurricane Ian so we expected the experience to be limited compared to a normal stay. However, they were not at all warm and welcoming and the main reasons we stayed was because they advertised free wifi and room services. Come to find out, the wifi is only free in public areas, if you want it in your room it is $40 a day. There was no room service either, it wasn't even available upon arrival which is when I was told "yes there is room service." our first night at the restaurant my husband asked for a burgundy, the waiter came out with his recommendation and let him try a sip, (keep in mind the bottle was already opened) then we find out the bottle was $750 a bottle. without drinking any more than just a sip we asked if they could please take the wine back as we have a ten month old baby and can no way afford a bottle of wine like this. Bottom line, he should've warned us ahead of time that the wine was so expensive as it is uncommon that a young couple with a chile would be seeking out a bottle in that price range. THEN once we were told there was nothing they could do we had to pay for the wine, the waiter came by and filled my husbands glass but did not even offer to pour my glass. I was enraged and left the restaurant. The next morning we woke up for breakfast and discovered that moving forward, all meals would be served buffet style, I am a light eater so $35 flat rate per person for breakfast was a bit steep. Then on our way back up to the room my husband almost lost his foot trying to hold an elevator... I have never seen an elevator without a sensor in my life. When we arrived to our room there was a notice under the door stating that housekeeping wouldn't be cleaning the rooms, just dropping off clean towels. The front desk also said they would bring us up a microwave but of course, that never happened. All in all, the rooms were very nice but we did not like waking up each morning to find out that more and more amenities would be taken away each day yet the cost of the rooms would remain the same.. you might think, well if you're so concerned about the money, why stay at such an expensive hotel? the reason being was because we have a ten month old and he is crawling and putting anything and everything in his mouth, I thought it would be worth the extra money to be in a hotel that is known for its cleanliness and housekeeping staff. In addition, my husband and I have not had a getaway in a long time and because he works 7 days a week, we thought this could be a mini family vacation= instead it turned into a trip that cost us more than we make each month... with the holidays coming up I am very regretful that we chose to stay at this hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone... instead book an all inclusive in the bahamas for a week or a cruise somewhere,, it will cost the SAME amount. I am not exagerating one bit, this hotel charges everything to your room so you don't even realize the little things they are charging you for until you get your bill at the end, if you want my advice..stay someone else.

We decided last minute to take a trip to Florida over the Christmas break to enjoy some warm weather and sunshine. We initially booked a two queen room with a rollaway which the Marriott online booking allowed us to do after putting in our family of 5. When we called to confirm the rollaway in the room we were told they were unable to accommodate that request due to fire code. They offered us a king room with a tiny pull out and a rollaway which would not have worked. It turns out, you really can’t have 5 people comfortably in either type room because of the size, so we ended up booking two adjoining rooms. Checkin was easy, but when we got to our room one of the door lock batteries was dead. We had to wait 30 minutes after calling several times before we could get into one of our rooms. The rooms are decent, but the showers are very small and one of our towels had mold growing on it. We have 3 kids, so one of the draws of this hotel was the pool and aqua course. The pool is great, but the Aqua course was closed. The website did not make mention of it and it was a big disappointment for us. I’m assuming it was closed to due Covid yet they had an indoor blow up obstacle course, so it didn’t make much sense to me. We went to the outdoor center to see about renting bikes (no kids bikes and you have to be 13 to rent the adult bikes), they no longer have the two and four seater bikes they advertise, we couldn’t use the kayaks because it was too windy they said, no fishing polls you could rent but you can pay $60 per person to fish from the shore with a guide. Their website is very deceiving regarding the activities. The food was pretty good (we are big foodies and food is a high priority for us) but the service wasn’t up to the standard you would expect for a luxury resort. Maybe this is also due to Covid, but it was very disappointing. We are big travelers and typically stay in nice resorts. Overall we were disappointed with this resort which is a bummer because we really wanted to love it.

First self-parking costs $30. The lot is way the Hell and gone from the hotel entrance which makes for a long, sweaty hike up hill to the hotel. Valet parking is $40.

This is classed as a convention hotel by Marriott which means no concierge lounge.
Why that is so is a secret locked inside the minds at Marriott.

The single king room (8023) was beautiful, large and airy with two windows that opened an inch or two to allow fresh air.

The bath was well appointed but oddly enough while shampoo, shower gel and conditioner were provided body lotion was not. We were allotted 3 bath towels for two people I helped my self to an extra from the maid's cart.

The bed was excellent, the carpet was fresh, clean and absent any telltale signs of wear.

Primo restaurant offered very good food and drinks. We sat at the bar due to the fact that the concierge had told me that there were no more reservations available and this was at 4:45. The bar ambiance was terrific but the server was average at best.

Due to the parking refuse to ever return to this property.

We booked this hotel due to its location and it’s lazy river pool. That was the main selling point for us. When we arrived at the property is under a pretty extensive renovation that is still not completed. When we checked in we attempted to get an upgrade because the room type we booked online through the hotels website showed in the room photos the room had a balcony. When we arrived we found out we weren’t in a balcony room and there were no upgrades available. The room itself was clean and well appointed. Here’s my issue-The resort charge is a $40 a day resort fee. But only includes 2 floats for the lazy river and charges five dollars additional for any extra rafts. Feels a little nickel and dimey when you’re paying $500 a night for a room and a $40 a day resort fee. The Internet and Wi-Fi was intermittent at best and we had a lot of challenges connecting to a reliable signal. Parking is very expensive. The Self Park option which is quite a walk from the front of the hotel is $32 per day. The valet is $47 a day. We attempted to try to Self Park but it was consistently full. Food and beverage on property is expensive. I am a Marriott bonvoy member and have stayed at many Marriott properties. Two piña colada‘s at the pool was $45. We were able to get an upgrade the next day to a balcony room which honestly was not worth the additional cost. The regular balcony rooms are very tiny balconies with no chairs or furniture on them. I don’t know if the suites offer bigger balconies as I didn’t see them. The pool area is huge and never seemed crowded during our stay. We enjoyed floating around in the lazy river. The entire pool is no deeper than 3 1/2 feet whether you’re inside the lazy river area or the offshoots of the regular pool. There were ample availability for lounge chairs and towels were easy to come by. We enjoyed the live music at the pool. The property was very clean and well taken care of outside the areas of construction. The lazy river at times had empty bottles and trash along the sides but that’s not really anything that deterred us from being there. The construction was a little disappointing as it was green fencing around the entire lazy river area but we enjoyed it regardless. Monday morning the construction was in full swing so it was a bit loud. All of the hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. Overall we enjoyed ourselves but don’t think we would return to this particular property because The overall cost of our trip wasn’t really in line with what we could have gotten at other properties.
