The Wilderness Lodge, and its adjacent Boulder Ridge Villas are nicely themed to the idea of the national parks, with lots of theming with wood and trees and nature.
The Boulder Ridge Villas is a Disney Vacation Club property, primarily intended for stays by DVC members, but also available to their guests, and frequently rooms not reserved for that purposes are available to rent from Disney just like a regular hotel room in the main lodge building, to which it's connected by a covered walkway.
Like other DVC properties, the Boulder Ridge Villas (and the Copper Creek DVC property with is also at the Wilderness Lodge) offer studio, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom offerings. All the common services like dining, shopping and transportation are in the main Wilderness Lodge building. Dining varies fancier character experiences with Snow White at the Artist Point, to the purposely-boisterous "Whispering" Canyon Cafe, a bar, the Roaring Fork quick-service offering (with mug-filling), and the Geyser Point open-air Bar and Grill down by the shores of Bay Lake (also offers mug-filling).
The price for any of the lodging offerings at the Wilderness Lodge and its two DVC properties can get expensive, but can be so worth it for a nice, relaxing environment.
Complimentary boat service to the Magic Kingdom and busses to all other resort destinations are included.
The Electrical Water Pageant stops here for a fun show - you can get great views down in the area of the Geyser Point Bar and Grill.
The Boulder Ridge Villas include a ground-floor sitting room themed after the Carolwood Pacific Railroad the Walt Disney had built in his yard - for fans and Walt, history, and railroading, it's an awesome room with cars and lots of photos.

We loved this place! We stayed in a 1 bedroom DVC room. It was conveniently located by the bus stop and the lobby area. We loved the restaurants and the quick boat ride over to Magic Kingdom. The rooms were very clean, and we loved the the cleaning staff came in and emptied our trash and dropped off clean towels. Everyone we saw was wearing masks and we felt completely safe. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

"Perfect Vacation!"! Perfect review! Thank you so much for taking some time out to share how much your family enjoyed your recent visit to the Boulder Ridge at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. You mentioned some of my very favorite things about our Resort, starting with the ferry ride to Magic Kingdom Park! Having any form of transportation on a vacation is a delight but to be able to start your morning out on the water is so refreshing and calming. And of course, dining is important too, and I must say, from Roaring Fork (if they have the Carrot Cake Cupcake when you're in, make sure to grab one, or two) to Whispering Canyon Cafe there is something for everyone. On behalf of all of our Cast Members, we look so forward to welcoming you home again next visit! Alexa Disney Social Reviews

Breathtaking, peaceful, relaxing are the words to explain how amazing our stay at Boulder Ridge Villas at Disneyworld's Wilderness Lodge felt to us. We decided to take a last minute trip grabbing an amazing discount. We have stayed at many of the Disneyworld resorts from All Stars to the Grand Floridian. This was our first stay at the Wilderness Lodge. We have visited the resort for dinning at the Whyspering Canyon and Artist Point always making a stop during Christmas to see it's holiday decorations. From the moment we checked in each and every Cast Member was welcoming. Very courteous with explaining all the safety measures and answering any questions. We enjoyed an amazing lunch at Geyser Point waiting for our room to be ready. We were met with our first magical moment with a room upgrade from a studio deluxe to a 1 bedroom King suite. Wow!! I have tears just thinking about it. Jacuzzi, washer and dryer, quiet pool view, second floor. The resort is truly unlike any other on Disney property. You feel so immersed in Disney magic. An amazing train room with lot's of Walt Disney memorabilia. I sat endlessly alone with my morning coffee in that room then would head out for the most beautiful sunrise and that was just the start of our days. Our next magical moment was with a Cast Member named Mark who took us out for a private fishing charter with views of the Grand Floridian, Polynesian and the Contemporary I can't ever forget. My daughter's first fishing trip and catching her first fish. So knowledgeable, catch and release of course we can't thank him enough and will be scheduling another charter on our next Disney vacation. We took a resort only vacation never wanting to leave. Each and every Cast Member from the poolside to Mousekeeping just the very best in Customer Service and we are so thankful. We will be back to the Wilderness Lodge the most Magical place for us. 🏰 ✨

Wow! That is not only my response to the natural beauty found all around this property but also my response to your wonderful and magical review! I am always thrilled to read about a visit that starts with surprises and seems to only get better. Your tranquil photos have me wanting to pack my bags, they sure are a lovely memory! A jacuzzi tub on vacation is just about the most magical thing ever, after a long day in the Theme Parks there is just nothing more relaxing. I am also glad you took note of the beautiful train room, this is certainly a treasure and is a lovely homage to Walt Disney and his love of trains. Speaking of our heritage and legacy, Mark sounds absolutely wonderful and I am delighted that his service was off the hook, or I suppose on the hook in this case! I've made sure to let his leadership know of your kind feedback so that he may be commended. On behalf of all of our Cast Members, I hope you are able to come back and enjoy your morning coffee with us again soon. Alexa Disney Social Reviews

2bdrm 2 bath "deluxe" DVC villa, tho there is NO fine dining restaurant as at other deluxe Disney resorts. Kitchen has basic supplies tho two upper cabinets over counter/bar are nearly impossible to reach. Sink has two faucets (hot/cold) with no spray so have to use extra water to keep free of debris. Stove top not properly cleaned or maintained. Looks like cleaned with general all purpose type cleaner rather than glass top cleaner. 2nd bath/shower with toilet way too small, should have taken at least another 1 1/2 feet from sink area. Every time the toilet flushes you know micro spray is hitting every towel. Beds lumpy and feels like some sort of plastic mattress cover. Urine smell overwhelming and obvious. Even # villas on smoker area and road side so noisy while buses running (about 6am to midnight) and deliveries being made. We requested (several times before arrival) odd # due to severe asthma but were given an even # room for our week long stay. We arrived at 6pm (check in 4:30p) and were told they could not hold a even # room for us away from smokers, they could move us on the 5th day of our 7day stay. Construction while we were there from 6:30a to 7:30p so additional noise. We turned heat/cool air unit "off" tho fan continued to blow 24/7. You have NO control of the temperature of your room and/or circulating air. Woke up coughing/wheezing at 6a one morning to cigarette smoke coming in through vent. Someone in another room must have lit up and uncontrolled circulating air entered our villa. We ordered in room dining 1st night and waited 3 hours. We were initially told 1 hour, we called and were told another 15 min. over and over again. We finally cancelled and the cold meal showed up within 5 minutes. We love Wilderness Lodge but will never stay at Boulder Ridge again.

Thank you for providing this honest review of your stay at the Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Kathleen. I am so very sorry to learn of all the dissatisfaction you expressed in your review. I truly hope you took the time to make the Cast Members at the Front Desk of the Resort aware of each of these concerns, as our Housekeeping and Maintenance teams are available to assist with many of the situations you mentioned. Additionally, I truly apologize for any disappointment or miscommunication in regards to the room you received. Our Cast Members do their very best to honor as many room requests as possible, but unfortunately, due to availability, it might not always be possible to accommodate all of them. Here at Walt Disney World, we pride ourselves in providing the highest level of Guest service, but based on your review it seems we have really missed the mark this time. It is through feedback from our Guests that we are able to monitor our offerings and continuously improve, so thank you again for sharing this honest feedback. Please know it is being shared with the appropriate Leadership at this Resort. Even if not at the Boulder Ridge Villas, we certainly hope to welcome you back for a much better stay in the future. We stayed at one of the deluxe studios and was disappointed. The room was on the 3rd floor all the way down with a view of the garbage. The cost of this place did not match the accommodations. We have stayed at much nicer hotels for way less money. Honestly we have never stayed at a hotel as expensive. The only pro was the proximity to Magic Kingdom. We had arrived to the lodge after staying at a Marriott timeshare in Palm Beach which was has down so much better including the mattress in the pull out couch. I am surprised people continue to pay the amount we paid to stay at deluxe studio. We did express our disappointment and were moved to first level studio. The tv didn’t work so they ended up replacing it or so they say. It did work after they did. Needless to say we will never stay again at the deluxe studios at Boulder Ridge. We had contemplating moving to Art of Animation as at least the price of the rooms likely would have marched the accommodations a bit more adequately. I did take a photo of the view from the 3rd floor however it says the photo is too big to attach.

Thank you, Laurie, for expressing these concerns and observations from your recent stay with us. It is always our hope to deliver in every aspect possible of a Guest's vacation with top notch comfort being among those. I'm truly sorry your accommodations left you feeling less than thrilled and weren't as welcoming as you'd hoped. Please know that all feedback is received by our senior Resort Leadership so they are aware of areas where we need to improve most to make each visit something truly special. Your comments are appreciated as they shed light on places where such improvements may be made. I'm glad to read you also discussed these missteps in your stay with the Front Desk, who did everything they could to make your stay more comfortable at the time. While this particular style of room was not quite what you were looking for, we do hope to welcome you back in the future to any one of our many Resort hotels for a much more relaxing and enjoyable stay. I wish o could say that I would love to stay again, but I can’t. I will not ever be staying here again. The front desk associate that I had to deal with after the Initial check in was rude. Plain and simple, with eye rolling added in. I’ve had bad experiences with the front desk years ago and quit staying here , but love the look of the resort and the food offerings so we decided to try staying here again. Nope. Still nasty inconsiderate cast members. The cleaning staff needs a huge refresher course and how to properly clean a room, and quicker, maybe instead of standing in the halls on their phones or gossiping with one another things would move faster and done better. The only pleasant experience was the wait staff at the Whispering canyon and the boat skippers are awesome as always. The common areas were clean and smelled good but not happy at all with the villa. I bring disinfectant wipes and believe me I used them.

So during the pandemic with most hotels going out of there way to not go into your room after check in Disney is going the opposite direction. They inter your room daily to supposedly empty trash and check the room for issues. This service cannot be refused. They want to come into your room daily whether you wish it or not. We know this stems from the Las Vegas incident a few year back so basically every family staying on property is considered a potential terrorist and rooms must checked daily by the housekeeping staff that must also had had classes in counter terrorism to make nothing improper is going on. That being said during a pandemic I have a real problem with someone entering my room daily without my knowledge for whatever reason. Basically contaminating my clean space.
At the parks Disney is doing a great job. At he resorts I feel not so. Your chance of catching CoVid in your Disney resort hotel is far greater than at the park. If I return I will stay off property.

We weighed our decision carefully on whether or not we would travel for pleasure during a pandemic. After traveling many times for business or out of necessity and feeling very safe at hotels with all the extra precautions the hotels are taking. Well Disney has the lowest rating for safety in my opinion for guest and staff safety. They enter the rooms daily (completely unannounced) and move about your room while touching things, in some cases with no mask or gloves (we witnessed this). They call it a daily mandatory safety check after giving ten false reasons for entering room when questioned. We asked to not have people in our room during covid and were told that it is mandatory. It is a complete compromise of my family’s safety. So in my opinion, save your money and stay off property where the hotels are following all the CDC’s health and safety regulations. The park on the other hand I will give an A+ for safety and cleanliness. So Disney needs to take a hint from the CDC and other hotels before they cause damage, deaths or get themselves shut down.

I stayed at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge-Boulder Ridge Villas in September, 2022. I stayed in a Deluxe Studio.
The idea behind the Wilderness Lodge is to make you feel like you are staying at a lodge in a national park. And this is accomplished admirably, from entering the resort area, to the beautiful lobby, to the magnificent grounds. I have stayed at most of the Disney Deluxe Resorts and visited all of them, and in my opinion, Wilderness Lodge is perhaps the most beautiful of all; Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Jambo House lobby might be more impressive, but the grounds around Wilderness Lodge are nicer.
I stayed in the Boulder Ridge building, which adjoins the main building.
The resort has a beautiful main pool, with a small water slide. There is also a “quiet pool.” There is a daily pool party for the kids at the main pool (some activities are also fun for adults).
One of the best amenities is the boat that goes to and from Magic Kingdom—very convenient!
Now about my room. Unfortunately, I had the dreaded “Dumpster view” room. Not really Dumpsters, but a view overlooking the towel laundry facility. C’mon Disney—can’t you put an awning over it so people paying so much for a room don’t see it?
The Boulder Ridge building is being refurbished, and the rooms completely re-done. So I won’t bother addressing some issues with the room, as hopefully they will be taken care of in the refurbishment.
This was my second stay at Wilderness Lodge, and I can honestly say I miss it and eagerly look forward to going back someday.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bath DVC room. The rooms were large, beds comfy. Kitchen had what we needed. Baths were large (though vanities were pretty cheap), grounds woodsy. I especially liked the DVC pool and fitness center (which is in the DVC building, so you don’t have to go out in the elements). Boat is convenient to the Magic Kingdom. Restaurant was very good, and all cast members excellent.

So what’s the problem? Somewhat delicate, and an experience unique to these rooms. Either the toilet seat is wrong, or the toilet is wrong, or the water level is wrong. For a guy to sit down your intimate bits go for a swim in the toilet water. And yes, I tried both toilets. Finally had to prop up the seat with hand towels. Public restrooms didn’t have this problem. The 4 other DVC hotels this trip (Saratoga Springs, Grand Floridian, Animal Kingdom, and Boardwalk), didn’t have this problem.

But for this, I would give 4 stars. But for the pluses above, I’d rate it 1 star for this problem. Maybe, given the intimate nature of the problem, no one complains. Maybe cast members never use the toilets. And, frankly, I didn’t call the front desk about it, I just improvised with towels. But, I will never stay there again.

Guys, be forewarned.

Yes, the pools are open. Boulder Ridge and the Wilderness Lodge have limits to the number of people allowed in the pool areas at one time. Lounge chairs areas are grouped to allow social distancing between other families. I was impressed with how guests maintained social distance in the pools and pool areas. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

The main parking is in front of the main lodge, but if you park on the side closer to the villas, it's not that far of a walk. And we typically drop the kids and 1 adult near the crosswalk by the villas/bus stop and then go park the car.
