Disney's Art of Animation Resort captivates many with its immersive themes and well-maintained rooms, although a few guests have encountered aspects that fell short of expectations. The resort's cleanliness stands out, with housekeeping frequently receiving compliments for their thorough work. While the themed suites and responsive service are highlights for some, others point out dated rooms and uneven experiences with staff. The heated pools and transport options are well-regarded amenities, yet some visitors feel that the overall value doesn't quite justify the premium pricing.

A quick 4 day getaway. The Disney Magic is alive and well at AOA. It was amazing. This was our first time to this resort. If you want “bam” in your face Disney, this is your place. Everyone was so friendly and the Skyliner is a game changer. Even if the line is long, and it will be for rope drop, don’t worry, moves real fast. Had a couple of quick bites at Landscape of Flavors and it was very good. It is a big resort. However, we were in the Little Mermaid non-suite rooms as it was just my wife and I and it would only take us like 5 minutes to get to food court and Skyliner. Bus to MK was about 15 and bus to DS was about 10. Would not recommend the non suite rooms for more than 3 people. Would be a very tight. Overall, would give it a 5 out of 5.

Where to start? I was truly mesmerised by the detail and imagination used to create such a lovely resort.
The magical theme continues throughout the hotel, from the stunning rooms to the pool side facilities. I loved the variation of different Disney movies included within this hotel from Finding Nemo, to The Little Mermaid and even The Lion King.
The accommodation was superb, often we would return to our room to find a cute little animal created using clean towels.
As both me and my partner do not feel comfortable hiring our own vehicle, it was important that we chose a resort with public transport accessible. Not only is the resort only a 5/10 minute drive from all of the major parks, there is always a coach or bus available take you during the day. The wonderful hotel staff at reception will provide you with all of the relevant information including the bus timetables.
However, the only slight issue I found during my stay here was that there were not many options when it comes to dinner time. As the hotel is not all inclusive, meals had to be purchased from the restaurant which I often found was over priced. Other than this, I am unable to fault this beautiful resort.
Overall, it was a true pleasure to have visited the Art of Animation Resort. I look forward to visiting again in the future.

Hi, Sandra! I'm so happy to know you enjoyed being immersed in all the Disney magic found at Disney's Art of Animation Resort! Thank you for also taking some time to share some highlights. I don't think one can visit a resort and be more surrounded by the wonder of Disney's beautiful animation and beloved films than here. Everywhere you look you're greeted by a character sketch or a scene from a favorite movie. There's just so much to take in! While I'm happy to learn you enjoyed your stay overall, I apologize you found something to be desired with the dining options available here. We certainly do our best to provide a variety based on our Guest preferences, but each Resort also features unique offerings themed to the location. Having said that, I would highly encourage you to look at our Disney Dining Plan options on your next visit. Not only is this a great cost-effective option to enjoy meals, but it also allows you to experience multiple types of cuisine across Walt Disney World Resort is you so desire. I personally never book a stay without it! Thank you again for your review and we can't wait to welcome you back again real soon! Jody Disney Social Reviews

The gondola is a game-changer. We have historically stayed at deluxe hotels because they can accommodate 5 and we could walk or monorail to the parks. We decided to try Art of Animation this time and would do it again. It was great having the space of a suite and 2 bathrooms were great. The gondola made it very easy to get to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. We only had waits coming back from the parks one night but otherwise walked on (during a busy time). It took about 20 min. to get to Epcot and about 15 to Hollywood Studios. We stayed in building 4 (Nemo suite) which was a great location close to the front building, pool and gondola. We used the quieter pool in the Cars area one afternoon, it was heated but still cool. The kitchen area in-suite was nicely equipped with paper plates, bowls, silverware, and paper towels. The suite itself was a nice size with the fold-out double couch and pull down bed, also a double. The only negative was the comfort of the beds, none of them were great.

Thank you for visiting Disney’s Art of Animation Resort! When branching out from our Deluxe Resorts, I think this property is a great choice thanks to the comfortable Family Suites and the convenience of the newly-debuted Disney Skyliner system. I’m so glad these features could help make your stay with us so enjoyable. We’ve got Family Suites themed after Finding Nemo, The Lion King, and Cars, so I hope we get to welcome you back for another stay perhaps in a new area to enjoy. Thank you again for your review. Wow. This hotel was fantastic. Amazed by the detail and imagination used to create such a lovely resort. We stayed in a little mermaid room, for just the two of us it was spacious, clean & comfortable, we were in building 9 which was a bit of a distance from the main building & amenities, on the good side it meant that the pool located outside the little mermaid rooms were rather quiet so we could relax for a few hour in the sun without much noise or disturbance, on the not so good side it had no facilities nearby for drinks/food etc.
All the cast members were extremely friendly, helpful & polite.
Skyliner: perfect, a fantastic way to get to Epcot & Disney’s Hollywood studios, sometimes there were ques but they went down extremely quickly, probably the quickest Que you’ll be in around the whole of Disney! 😉
Food: the food was a tad bit expensive. If you get free ‘Disney Dining plan’ with your stay then its happy days, however to buy it separately it would make you out of pocket unless you can eat portions that could feed two. The food was OK but can get a bit boring after 2 weeks, (TOP TIP: if not on a dining plan purchase a re-fill cup!!) p.s the cupcakes were divine.
Overall cleanliness was of a high standard.
The rooms could do with a little more sound proofing, you could hear showers, baths being ran & toilets being flushed from upstairs & next door, also if anyone walked past your room you would hear them.
Buses run to the parks from outside front of hotel frequently, (you receive a timetable/park times at check-in)

Overall a Fantastic hotel with beautiful decor, just a few little niggles. (few little niggles are my personal opinion my not apply to others)

I’m overjoyed to read that your visit was everything you had sketched up during your planning and were able to dive under the sea in your Little Mermaid room. I’m so happy that your visit was filled with so many new memorable moments and you were able to experience our newest way to travel during your visit. Disney’s Skyliner is sure to take your trip to our Theme Parks to new heights and give you a bird’s eye view of our Resorts. While I am thrilled to see your visit was filled with highlights, I apologize for the disappointments with our menu offerings. Please be assured our Chefs are constantly updating our menu offerings based off our out Guest feedback to ensure we are providing new and exciting items, so I want to thank you for sharing your observations. May I suggest heading over the generation bridge and enjoying a meal at Disney's Pop Century Resort during your next visit. With so many new and exciting offerings on the horizon for our Parks and Resorts, we can't wait to welcome you back for another picture-perfect visit. Sketch ya later! Zoey Disney Social Reviews

The hotel was very accommodating, the beds were comfortable. As far as the room I thought that they should have some lamps or one lamp which would make the room a little bit cozier. We had 2 beds both queen and it was a little tight, my adult daughter and myself in one room. Ask for another luggage rack from housekeeping. I was not aware and if you buy in the store/gift shop like simple medical supplies you should bring your own. Very expensive in the gift shop. There is a Walgreens nearby. We took lyft there and they do sell wine at Walgreens and there are little refrigerators in the room. Disney offers their uber van red with white dots (expensive), however, we were a party of 4 and we used lyft (vans that people had to pick us up) and had no problem getting the lyft which was about $12.00 ea way. We needed to get to Hollywood studios to be there at 7:00 am when the park opened to get our boarding pass for the ride Star War Rise of the Resistance. You need a boarding pass, not fast pass for this ride. If you want to get into the Oga’s Cantina reservations require a credit card guarantee, which means you’ll need to enter your card information when booking. However, the card won’t be charged until you arrive at the cantina. If you don’t show up for your reservation, you’ll face a cancellation fee of $10 per person. This was cool, drinks expensive, but worth seeing if you are a Star war fan.
I would also recommend that if you have been walking all day and/or are a little older and want to get back to your room and rest, you should book rooms in building 3, 4 or 5. They are the closest to the big pool, lobby and restaurant. We were building 7 which was a hike and at the end of the day it was hard walking. The food in the restaurant was good.

We stayed here for 6 days celebrating my sister’s 30th birthday. Due to refurbishments taking place in the Little Mermaid rooms, we were upgraded to a Lion King suite which was more than what we needed.

The Disney Skyliner is a fantastic addition to this resort and makes it SO easy to get to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Be warned that if you’re going for Rise of the Resistance tickets you’ll need to use Uber/Buses to get to the park as the Skyliner won’t run early enough!

A thoroughly enjoyable stay and the cast members throughout the hotel were very helpful and friendly! Only criticism would be that the WiFi in the hotel rooms was very hit and miss and needs upgrading to cope with the demand. The Landscape of Flavours dining area offers quick meals and snacks and is good if you’re in a rush, but there are much better choices in the parks and at nearby Disney Springs.

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to help you celebrate! I’m glad to hear that you received an upgraded room to one of our The Lion King Suites which offers plenty of space for your whole party. Also it is fantastic to read that you enjoyed the Disney Skyliner and found it a great form of transportation. I’m sorry that you found the Wi-Fi to be lacking in certain areas of the Resort. After an 8 year hiatus from Disney, took my 7 year old stepson and my husband - both of whom had never been. We decided to stay in the Cars Suite at the Art of Animation which provided a separate bedroom for us and allowed my stepson to choose between the pull out in the living room or the murphy bed (a bit closer to the door). We paid a little extra for the suite but well worth it! The room comes with two bathrooms - one specifically in master bedroom area. It also has a kitchenette area which worked well in the mornings when we ate in our room prior to heading to the parks. The room can comfortably fit 4-5 people. They fulfilled our request of Building 3 which is a short walk to the Cozy Cone pool as well as the main hotel and the Big Blue Pool. We visited the quick service dining area during our only day when we stayed at the hotel and swam in the pools. It was adequate and definitely had lots of choices. We played in the arcade and my stepson worked on a mickey tie dye shirt which he loves! For a value resort, it definitely checked off all the boxes for us. I have stayed at most of the Deluxe properties in the past but for this trip and with a younger son who loves Cars this was the obvious and smarter choice. Hope you all enjoy your trip to Disney!

Yay, Francene, I'm so excited to see you returned after such a long hiatus, and chose a fantastic Resort to bring your family to for their first visit. Especially for those who love Cars, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, or Finding Nemo, Disney's Art of Animation Resort is the place to be. Even as a Value Resort, the Family Suites offer such convenience, it's hard to stay anywhere else. In my opinion, the best part is the two bathrooms. One has a tub for little ones if necessary, but definitely, as the kiddos get older, having that extra bathroom for getting ready makes getting ready for the Parks a lot easier. It sure sounds like your family got to experience everything this locale has to offer and I'm just tickled pink. Thanks for sharing your stay with us. We can't wait for you to race on back real soon! We stayed here for one night on our arrival day in January 2020. In the past we have always received text messages that our rooms at Disney are ready an hour or two before check in and we can go straight to the room. This time I had to go to the front desk twice. I had booked a Little Mermaid room, but they said we were upgraded to a Cars suite. Not really a big deal, it’s more space so that was fine even though we would have preferred the little mermaid theme. They told us what building it would be in so we went to that building and waited to receive a message that the room was ready. Check in time passed and a cast member noticed us waiting and got on the phone to ask about our room, which I appreciated. We waited some more and I eventually had to call Disney and rather than wait 20 min on the phone, we walked back to the front desk. The cast member got on the phone and after awhile they got us a room. We all enjoyed riding on the Skyliner to eat dinner at the Caribbean beach resort which had more food options. The next day we were able to take a quick trip on the Skyliner to Hollywood Studios. Using the Skyliner was definitely the highlight of staying at this hotel. I think if you are trying to choose between Pop Century and Art of Animation, just save the extra money and go with Pop especially if you are trying to get a themed room, there is no guarantee you will actually get it.

Thank you for reviewing your recent visit to our Resort. We want each visit to be just as seamless and relaxing as the last, and I apologize we fell short this time around. I certainly understand how the challenges you mentioned add up to an overall disappointing experience. I’m relieved to know you enjoyed some aspects of your stay, such as having on-site access to the new Disney Skyliner system. This is the perfect way to quickly get between nearby destinations which add to the dining, shopping, and entertainment options available to you. Thank you again for sharing your experience. This was our first time to Disney so I can not compare to the other resorts, but for us the Mermaid Room at this resort was perfect for our family and we traveled with a 2.5 and 5 year old. The room is nothing out of the ordinary and is more of a themed motel room with a great cafeteria, beautiful property and amazing pool. For a “value” hotel I have absolutely no complaints! The staff was kind, amazing and absolutely magical. Our room was spotless and cleaned daily with a few special touches here and there.

The one downfall to staying in a mermaid room is it’s pretty far of a walk after a long day, but completely doable. There were definitely times I had wished they had shuttle golf carts lol especially after running the Half Marathon 😬.

The back of the resort was quiet and it was so nice knowing our kids could just be kids. I don’t personally see the point of spending life savings on a room you are in all but 8 hours to sleep in, but that’s just me.

We also absolutely loved that we could take the sky liner to 2 of the parks and a few resorts. So much more relaxing than the buses.

So if you are looking for a clean Disney themed resort to lay your head at the end of a fun filled day look no further. If you are looking for luxury this resort is more geared toward kiddos and family.

It certainly sounds like you had an extra colorful stay at Disney's Art of Animation Resort! From the moment you arrive, you feel as though you've stepped right into classic, beloved stories. This carries throughout the Resort, so it's always fun to walk through and take photos with your favorite friends; it looks like your family particularly enjoyed our Cars-inspired area! That theming really does make any stay here wonderfully magical. Another incredible aspect of any stay here is the Disney Skyliner service; what a special way to travel to Disney's Hollywood Studios or Epcot! Thanks for swinging by to sketch out your thoughts! My husband and I stayed at Art of Animation in the Little Mermaid rooms January 9-13. I stayed there 5 years ago with a friend and daughter and loved it.

Since then, I have mostly stayed at Disney Deluxe hotels. Going into this visit, I wasn't sure if I would still like AOA, a value hotel after staying at places such as Boardwalk, Yacht, Beach etc. The reason we choose AOA is due to the low cost of the Little Mermaid rooms, since we had a split stay and spend another few days at Bay Lake Towers which was more expensive.

Even though AOA is considered a value hotel, I did not feel like I was staying at a value hotel. Sure, it doesn't have a coffee maker in the room, and the cups are plastic, not glass, but those are just minor things. The theming of the room is fantastic, and was very spacious for the two of us. I feel like if there are more than two people in the room, it would be too crowded though.

The Little Mermaid rooms are the farthest away from the bus stop and food court, but it was only a 7-10 minute walk and didn't bother us. When we came back to the hotel each night, we would take a nice walk from the Nemo rooms to Little Mermaid rooms on the path next to the lake. It was very peaceful, and we saw other people walking or sitting on benches enjoying the view.

The food court was a typical Disney food court. It's not signature dining, but it's fast and hearty and gets the job done. What stood out to me at the food court was how friendly the cast members were. Every cast member was eager to help us, answer any questions and very friendly.

The thing that made our stay at AOA, and is a complete game changer is the Skyliner. What a wonderful way to get to Hollywood Studios and Epcot!! Instead of waiting for and getting on a sometimes crowded bus, instead we just walked over to the Skyliner station and hopped on. Our first night there we literally just rode the Skyliner. While we were at AOA, we rode it many times.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much we liked AOA, even though it's a "value" hotel. We would definitely stay there again!

When you visit Disney's Art of Animation Resort, you immediately feel as though you've become a part of favorite stories! Whether relaxing "under the sea" in your room or speeding through Radiator Springs with Mater and friends, the colorful theming of this Resort really makes any stay here extra special. I think the recent addition of the Disney Skyliner makes this unique Resort even more magical and I'm glad you were able to take advantage of that during your time with us! Ultimately, the real source of the magic at Walt Disney World Resort is our incredible Cast Members. Sockets are two pin but they have USB charging points too so we didn't need our adapters in the end as we just plugged our USB cables straight into the USB sockets. We stayed in the Cars suite (see my review) and the table lamps beside the bed had handy USB sockets which is brilliant. WiFi is great and they have WiFi on Disney transport buses too (but not on the Skyliner) so we could keep using the app to book our Lightening Lanes whilst heading to the parks on the bus. I'm with EE and they have this great Roam Abroad pass where for a charge, you can use your pay monthly data allowance as if you're in the UK. Art of Animation is fantastic - enjoy!

You can see some of the fireworks from Hollywood Studios or Epcot but the view is not the greatest. It would also depend on your room location at the hotel as to what you can see.

No, they do not have breakfast with Mickey. The only Disney hotel that has a Mickey breakfast that I am aware of is the Contemporary hotel. You can have breakfast there and then take the monorail to either Epcot or to the Magic Kingdom. From wither one, you can then bus to either Hollywood or Animal Kingdom.
