I hate to flame a place this bad, but this place 100% deserves it. I don't know how the owner could put their name on such a disaster of a place. The one positive was the night lady was pretty nice. Here goes..I booked this room during a rain delay for the Daytona 500 so I wasn't really able to do my research. Walking in and the color scheme should have been the first clue to turn around and walk out. Checked in, got my room key (417) and went upstairs. Walked in and was like uh oh. Smelled like they tried covering up a cigarette smell with tons of air freshener. Tried turning on the lamp and 2 light bulbs were missing. Was going to turn on the TV but there was no remote. Picked up the phone to call downstairs and the cord from the handset to the phone was gone. So, I finished my salad and wanted to throw it away but no trash can anywhere. So I walked downstairs and the lady gave me light bulbs, phone cord, and a remote. The TV was one of the old school CRT TV's and of course even with cable, I got no channels. Looking over at the AC, I noticed the wallpaper (maybe paint) was peeling away from the wall. Went into the bathroom and noticed the towels were off white, a hole in shower curtain, and cracked paint in the shower. Won't go into details about behind the toilet. You may be asking why did I stay? I was tired and it was pouring rain. The beds looked clean enough so I just went to bed.

I honestly feel sorry for any families that stay here and don't realize what they're walking into. The name may have changed but not the atmosphere. By far the dirtiest and most hazardous hotel I've stayed in, foreign or domestic. A man shot a teenager there and it’s the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. When I stayed a short while back, Ieft within 30 minutes after I checked in and found a friend’s place to stay instead.The building should be condemned and bulldozed. The only reason I didn't ask for a refund is because I didn't even feel safe standing around the lobby. STAY AWAY and if you have kids, please don't bring them anywhere near this place.

Booked 3 nights, but stayed only one. Even that was too much!
Place was awfull- Bugs in toilet, noisy, smelling like weed and cigarettes.
I dont have any good things to say. Best thing is to drive by and keep on going!

Sadly we have very little positive to say about our stay at The Katerina.
I'll leave a more detailed review below, but for easy reading here's a few bullet points to accompany the pictures.
- Smell is terrible (Cigarettes and damp) - Bath stained - Shower not fully functional - Dirty carpets - Dirty furniture (white stains on couch) - Smoke alarm hanging from ceiling by exposed wires. - Worn furniture - Dirty room - No information on breakfasts - Dirty bed linen - Brown stains on walls
I could go on...
The staff were reasonable but the condition of the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. I believe that people use the hotel as a permanent place of residence. The hotel is dirty, outdated and smells of cigarettes and damp throughout. You are greeted by a sign that says that the hotel accepts no responsibility for thefts or damages, even from the rooms. And it felt like a real possibility that we would return to the hotel that evening to find our belongings long gone.
Unless the hotel makes a major turnaround I fully expect them to be out of business in the not too distant future. The recent reviews from countless others attest that the problems with our stay are not isolated. Sadly I have to say to avoid this hotel at all costs.
I see that the manager replies frequently on here, so expect you to read this review. I'm sorry I couldn't write anything positive for you, but the hotel is very, very bad. I see you constantly apologising to people for their poor stay. But will there ever be any action? I fear that by the time the changes are made it will be too late to save the reputation of The Katerina.

This hotel is AWFUL! Not only is the staff working the desk rude but our room had bugs, the carpet was torn all over the room, the tv was from the 90s, the light in our bathroom didnt work but also no line to the phone to even call the front desk. When walking down to the desk there was a long line of people with similar complaints. Oh and the smell is just awful. Whole place smells like weed and bad choices.

DONT GO HERE! Its the nastiest hotel I've EVER been to. I got two rooms, the first one we walked into smelled awful. There was cockroaches everywhere, the beds were nasty. Sheets weren't even washed, plus there was a CONDOM on the floor! I have never seen something more nasty in my life. I wont be going back there. The ladies at the front desk were rude and disgusting just like the hotel!

Generally speaking, this hotel is fine for a one night stay— however, it comes at a price. The pool was infested with yellow jackets, I found a baby roach in the bathroom and the air conditioner did not work. The staff was very friendly, and the over all atmosphere and cleanliness of the hotel wasn’t terrible.
The worst part of our experience was the types of characters that were just meandering around. It’s a “pay-by-the-week” hotel, so it’s attracted some pretty shady people. I would not stay at this hotel again.

As soon as the lady approached my car and ask me those question I got scared instantly I did not know were to park I did not see any extra parking and that first issue already stirred me off guard on wanting to stay there I FELT UNSAFE I FELT SCARED NOT JUST FOR ME BUT TO EVEN BRING MY 2 year old around that ENVIROMENT. I wish I did better research rather than quickly booking because the KATERINA WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN MY NUMBER ONE OR ANY NUMBER ON MY LIST whatsoever. I am disappointed, dissatisfied and displeased with the viewing of the pictures on line because it is not right and it is definitely a sham, hoax and a imitation !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was not genuine I was very unpleased a feeling of fear was deeply triggered that I was in danger based on the environment. I am aware and stated that it was non-refundable but the KATERINA HOTEL OUGHT TO BE ASHAME to even place non refurbishment there is no exact reason why you guys should have a non-refundable/refurbishment and also a 50 dollars deposit you are not too quality and it the description shown online was a fraud That is not a hote that’s a motel a daily living crack house this is horrible

After traveling 17 hours with 2 kids and a dog we arrived at the hotel about 1:30 pm and was checking to see if our room by any chance was available. Yes your room is available but you have to pay $20.00 extra to get in early. Ok were tired and just want to rest, I tell them we have our dog (suppose to be dog friendly and " may have a additional charge" per website) oh that's going to be an extra $100 because we have to do a deep cleaning. What ? I myself don't think this hotel ever had a deep cleaning. Ok whatever were all just tired. We get to our room and the smell was horrendous, I can't even describe the smell. I go back to the front desk and they said they would send someone down. Well to fix the problem we have to leave the room for at least an hour......whatever. We go to turn on the tv and no remote, had to call the desk again and they bring down a broken and no back on it remote. You can only use one door the front door, so if you have to park in the back you have to walk all the way to the front to get in or out and if your room is in the back all the way down the hall. I'm sure this is some kind of a fire violation because the doors was locked. The rooms I don't even know what words to use for them, we found out why our room smelled so bad. The shower was leaking thru the wall and the carpet was soaked. We went to the front desk for towels to absorb the water and was told we had to wait until the morning, even though our floor was soaked. The breakfast they advertise on their website is a joke, out dated food and moldy bread. I wish I would have read more of the reviews on the website that I booked thru, but only the good ones were on the top and I think the hotel wrote those themselves. There is a lot of shady characters hanging around out side in the parking lot and by the front door. There was nothing good that I could say about this hotel except it was a learning experience for us, I will stay with chain hotels from now on

Dear Cathy, Thank you for taking the time and leaving us with your review. We truly regret that we were not able to meet your expectations during your stay. Our goal at Katerina Hotel Orlando is to address all guest related issues while on property and I'm very sorry that we were not able to do this. I've been going through the Front Desk daily log and maintenance tasks but I'm unable to find anything about the shower leak reported. Regarding our pet policy, since we do have carpeted rooms, we do require to make sure the room is deeply treated after a pet has been there, so future guest do not have any allergic reactions, therefore the non-refundable deposit. The back door is locked between 10pm-8am, but open daytime, this is something that opens in case of an emergency through magnetic locks. I would like to let you know that we have made adjustments to the Front Desk routines, and I've spoken with all employes in regards to the towel situation, which you of course should not have had any issues with. I remember you well and know I came to your room in regards to one issue you had, and I wish I had asked you how everything else with your stay was so the other issues could be addressed at the time, or just firmly explained. This hotel was horrible! First our tv wasn't working for hours before they even cared about the issue. The 4th floor smells like mildew and the room itself smelled like old wet carpet which was more than likely because the a/c leaked and got our carpet soaked which of course the rude staff including the manager Stefan claimed they didn't know about but the a/c was unplugged when we got in there. The next morning before we checked out we went to take a shower and low and behold no hot water. So we went down to the front desk to let them know around 10am (checkout is at 11) and they didn't bother to check on it and "fix it" until 10:50am and had the AUDACITY to call our room to inform us that we were going to be charged a late fee if we didn't checkout by 11!! The "owner" Alex or Alec did absolutely nothing to solve this problem or any that we had. I do NOT recommend this hotel to ANYONE! Spend a little more money for the comfort, clean smell, and good customer service.

While I understand your frustration, this is not how I remember our conversation at the hotel Tracy, as the a/c issue was addressed right away and we both came to an understanding that the hot water was in fact working, just that it had to be run for a while. The initial issue was that you were unable to extend due to lack of funds and that was why you came down at 10am, none of the complaints were brought up before 10.45 and that was when you demanded a discount. I would find another location hands down. They say they're going through renovations and use that as an excuse. And no they won't offer you anything to compensate a bad experience.
There are more places to choose from in the Orlando area.
