Nestled near theme parks, dining, and shopping, the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort garners compliments for its location and extensive amenities, which include a scenic pool and a variety of activities popular with families. Although the atmosphere is generally celebrated for its modern flair, some guests feel certain areas lack comfort.
The accommodation's spaciousness is appreciated, yet critiques of dated decor and occasional noise intrusions surface. While the service is hailed as attentive, the additional fees for resort amenities and parking have led some to question the value of their stay.

Detailed Reviews
I’ve returned to this hotel for at least a week, each year, since 2015. While there were some rough patches during the building of their conference center (now completed), this hotel continues to be a wonderful experience. I recently completed a 12-night stay as a globalist. This hotel offers expansive pools, free use of water craft (paddle boards, a small sailboat, kayaks, paddle boats, even a motorized boat), a climbing wall (closed due to the pandemic), peloton bikes and an extensive gym with some of the best equipment I’ve see at a hotel.
The breakfast buffet is great here, with fresh omelets, fruits, breakfast meats, children options. The staff of servers at breakfast are wonderful. AJ, who I have seen at the hotel for several years now, is warm, patient with my sister’s special needs 2 year old and the mess we made at our table, and made us feel like we were home. So many people comment on the staff at this property, like Tim and Merlot, and other recognizable faces. Please keep them all, and take care of your wonderful staff, they are such an asset to your hotel and a true motivating factor for continued returns.
For Disney Parks, this location is great: Lyft/Uber fees are between $8-18 dollars, depending on which park you would like to go to. The hotel has not run a shuttle to any park or destination other than Disney Springs (with an inconsistent schedule) for two years now. Please don’t rely on that when booking your trip. Travel to all theme parks and major destinations in Orlando is simple due to the location, whether you drive or prefer ride share services. This is easily a hotel that you can visit for a conference but bring along family and extend your trip into the weekend for an amazing family get away (I have done this in the past after a medical conference.)
Water pressure in the rooms are fine, rooms are comfortable and clean and were serviced by housekeeping at comfortable intervals. We had no issues with noise. The hotel’s upscale dining is currently unavailable, but I understand that will return with a new chef in the near future.
With so many hotels in Orlando, it can be hard to pick the right one. The Grand Cypress has such a wonderful mix of amenities, activities, warmth from staff and location that it is always an easy “yes” in our family’s book. It is a well run property with well-trained staff that offers the true Hyatt experience and keeps guests returning. We’ll see you again, soon!

My wife and I have been to Disney World many times, have stayed in Disney resorts of various price levels, stayed in outside hotels and even with family. This time we stayed at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress because all the Disney hotels were booked solid and this hotel was located adjacent to the Disney Resorts so it was just as close as any Disney property hotel.
We were surprised to find that the Grand Cypress is it’s own self contained resort with private guard entrance just like for any Disney resort, and it’s own mini water park with swimming pool, rock climbing wall that doesn’t require someone else to balay you, mini lake for kayaking, golf course, mini golf, plenty of walking trails, and fitness center. They also had a resident Mccau bird in the lobby. By the way the lobby is gorgeous and spacious, making it feel closer to what you’d expect from one of the premium Disney properties.
It had several options for casual or fine dining on site. Including a 24 hour market for quick low cost eating. I would say probably the biggest argument for staying in this hotel versus any Disney hotel is the flexibility and affordability of eating. When you’re on any Disney property you will more likely eat overpriced slightly junky food that’s not necessarily convenient and if you want fine dining you need to compete for a reservation, and eat overpriced better than junky quality food.
It was just my wife and I so this was more an adults only vacation. I say this because generally the biggest argument for spending the extra money and getting less amenities at a comparably priced Disney resort is if you have young kids or not. If you want Disney themed hotel rooms, possibly guest only theme park hours, then you’d probably want to stay on a Disney resort, especially because you can all pile into the Disney transportation. In contrast the Hyatt does provide some shuttle bus transport to the Disney parks, but it’s not as frequent as the Disney buses.
But if it’s older teens or higher in age you might really value the flexibility that the Hyatt is going to offer. My wife and I decided to rent a car, which then allowed us to freely venture to any hotel in Orlando. Plus I could drive to a nearby CVS and get snacks and bottled water super cheap and save mucho money versus what any hotel would charge.
Finally one thing to consider is hotel price. The Grand Cypress room rates were maybe a bit over the lowest price Disney motel rooms. My wife and I stayed at the lowest price Disney rooms and they were clean but kind of lousy for the price. So with the Hyatt Grand Cypress I’d say your getting quality close to premium Disney hotels for a price close to Disney’s economy motels.
Note that if you decide to rent a car, you will have to pay to park on site and on Disney them parks.

We recently went to Orlando for fun - no park visit this time just a quick getaway. We stayed at the Hyatt Grand cypress and it did not disappoint. Comfortable room - and quiet - we did not hear one door slam or noisy party waling down the hallway. Great breakfast buffet (try the stick buns!) Also heard about Merlot the property parrot. we will definitely stay here again.

You can tell this hotel used to be a prime location to come to. The common spaces look like they have been updated. There is ample seating to space yourself out to get work done or just relax. The market had a great selection with the option of a microwave, toaster oven and bagel toaster. There is no shuttle to take you to any parks, but the ride share option is fine since its about $20-25/each way to the Disney parks and you don't have to pay for parking at the hotel or at Disney.
I'm sure that each room is different in the amount of deep cleaning it has received. The overflow drain hole in the sink needed a deep scrub and the carpets seemed like they needed to be cleaned as well. Unfortunately, the door didn't go all the way to the ground so there was a gap to the hallway. If you're concerned with COVID, check your door since so many people walk past the room where we were since we were the first door in the hallway and your room won't really be sealed shut. Request a room further away from the elevator since you can hear elevator noises and people walking past. There was also someone smoking pot on our floor. You could smell it once you entered the hallway. The other issue is that everything from the lobby echos up to the rooms if you're the first room in the hallway. If you plan on going to the parks and don't use the facility much it's not worth staying at this hotel. If you take some time to relax by the pool and use the amenities then you have to decide if you prefer to stay at a newer hotel or one that is tired.

great resort with a lot to do. but suggest you bring your food / drinks as prices are super high on location. Staff is very friendly and love the champagne at check in. Pool area was very clean and the kids loved the roasting marshmallows at the campfire they have every night.

Wonderful family stay at the Grand Cypress. We stayed on-site the entire time and took advantage of the many amenities, including bike rental, pool, outdoor movies, fire pit and canoe rental.
COVID related: Masks worn properly by all employees and most guests (even outside). Saw one or two people inside without masks and they were politely asked by staff to put masks on. Lake House restaurant is open at what looks like full capacity (Hemingway's is closed) for indoor dining. Would have loved outdoor seating. We're not comfortable eating inside but got to-go from the market, lobby bar and Lake House, and ate most meals poolside with service from On the Rocks. The Regency Club lounge is closed.
Employees were friendly and helpful, and requests (refresh of water and coffee in the room, etc.) were handled quickly. Anna in housekeeping went above and beyond when our little one had an accident and we needed the bed changed.
We especially enjoyed the 6 p.m. movie each night by the pool and the nightly fire pit. Bikes and boats are all well maintained and sanitized. Plenty to do on site.
The parking and resort fees are hefty, but the resort is well maintained with great amenities. We come here as a destination itself because if we're doing the parks we aren't able to take advantage of the amenities.

Average rooms, not the cleanest. It bothers me that many COVID restrictions have been lifted, yet hotels are not offering daily housekeeping AND still charging full service rates. Additionally, you can't reach an individual to resolve issues. I'm still waiting on a return call and my refund after I reported that a food delivery from the Lake House was not received. This was by far my worst experience with Hyatt Grand Cypress.

For starters I’ll say that this is a very nice resort. It’s a big sprawling place with a lot to see and do. It’s decorated nicely with lots of pretty little details all over the place. The lanterns in the trees are a beautiful touch at night. The pools are spectacular. I saw a ton of reviews talk about how cold the pools are in December and January. If you’re from the northeast like us, you’ll probably find it just fine. In fact two of the pools are heated so not a real issue. They have nice little fire pits out back with benches for relaxing at night. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful, but also often very busy. There are some things about our stay I didn’t enjoy. On the down side. If you choose to self park, it is free, but be prepared for a long walk. There’s also isn’t much in the way of instructions for how to get around the place and it is huge. You can opt for valet parking which costs $35 per night and to us, was simply not worth it. During high traffic times of day such as check out time, the elevator situation can get stressful. If you’re dealing with luggage and strollers, they’re packed with people and difficult to navigate. There’s only one elevator bank in the hotel and if your room is at the end of a particular hallway, it’s again a pretty long walk. Because of the way the elevators are laid out, if you have little ones who like to run ahead to the elevators, you could lose sight of them. Also breakfast is obscenely expensive at $30 and absolutely not worth the cost. For coffee there’s a Starbucks in the lobby but be prepared for long lines in the morning as it’s too small and only has two registers and a max of three people working a very busy counter. In spite of a few issues, overall it’s a beautiful place and we would stay again.

We were in town to visit a friend and chose this property from reading these positive reviews. The grounds are beautifully maintained and we were fortunate to get a spacious, quiet room overlooking the lagoon. There's plenty to do here but ironically we just lounged by the pool during the entire stay. Hyatt is doing something right, the entire staff were friendly and seemed happy to work there. We even met one server at the Lakehouse Restaurant who had been with Hyatt 30+ years! My minor quibbles are:
+ Lakehouse restaurant was hit or miss food-wise. The breakfast menu was pretty consistent in terms of quality. The lunch menu was limited (mostly sandwiches and burgers) but dinner was inconsistent. The grilled salmon and sushi were excellent. The chicken paella was not that great.
+ The $38/day resort fee included 2 bottles daily and we had to keep asking for it. We understood about limited housekeeping and got fresh towels daily but they should have left bottled water with the towels.
+ I had 2 packages sent to me during the stay and it wasn't clear to me that the onsite FedEx store manages shipping and receiving. They charge a basic $2/pkg up to $10/pkg fee based on weight.
A special shout out to Ivan, the parking valet who was very courteous and helpful during our stay!

This hotel was completely adequate for my stay but just a few little things and they could take it to the next level.
The room was nice, bed was comfortable, lots of towels (but not enough hand towels or washcloths). When I made the reservation they indicated housekeeping was available every third day but when I checked in they said to get housekeeping you had to call before 9am on the day you wanted it. We only got up early enough to call once - having them come automatically would have been nice. They would drop off towels whenever we asked. It would have been nice if they had left more than a single roll of toilet paper for 6 nights though - it was kind of annoying to have to call just for that several times.
We used the pool almost every day. It was a nice atmosphere. On the weekend it got tricky to find a place to sit that was social distanced, I can only imagine how crowded it would get with a full hotel. The biggest complaint I have and the one thing that actually made my stay less comfortable was the lounge chairs by the pool. They were horribly uncomfortable. The fabric is starting to sag and your hind end would end up resting directly on the metal bar underneath. We solved the problem by getting way more towels than we needed and piling them up to sit on.
I didn't try any of the other activities but the boats and bikes looked fun. I saw lots of people walking around with mini golf clubs so that was a nice touch. I also didn't bring a car so I didn't deal with parking.
The only food I tried was by the pool. The food was good and the prices as you would expect for poolside dining. On less crowded days service was fast, when it was more crowded it took longer to get food and servers came by less frequently. I'm not sure why they didn't increase staff for more guests.
There are restaurants you can walk to in 20 minutes which we did most nights. Taking a ride share to Disney Springs was usually around $12 each way.
Overall this was a nice place to stay. I wouldn't spend extra if you weren't going to use the things covered by the resort fee. If they got new pool chairs and towels and had more employees offering housekeeping and poolside service it would justify paying the higher resort fees.
