Nestled within its pristine and well-kept grounds, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa impresses most guests with its cleanliness and elegant ambiance, especially during the holidays. The staff's friendliness and the resort's upscale amenities receive commendations; however, opinions on value for money and room quality show a divide, with some travelers questioning the cost-to-experience ratio and noting varying room conditions. While the atmosphere is generally lively and the transportation options convenient, the experience can be occasionally overshadowed by crowds, noise, and service hiccups.

The Grand Floridian is the most impressive hotel at Disney World, and being a Disney Hotel fan, I've always loved it. It is also very expensive, of course, so I've only been there a few times. I just got back from our stay, and it was totally magical.
By "magical," I don't mean our trip is perfect. We did have a few problems. I did the online check in and requested an early room, and was texted our room number at 10am, which is awesome. However, by the time we got there, the room had only one bed for our family of 4, even though I booked a 2 queen beds room! So I immediately got everybody out without disturbing the room and went to the front desk to ask for a different room.
There was a huge line at the front desk. Now, I have stayed at all the deluxe hotels in Disney World several times, and I have never seen a long line at the front desk before. I've never even had to wait, except for once, there was one family before me at the Polynesian Resort, and I waited just a couple of minutes. At the value resort such as Pop Century, I wait 20 minutes all the time, and I didn't mind because I wasn't paying top dollar. But this time at the Grand, I even told them that there's a problem with my room, do I have to wait in the check in line? They said yes, go wait in line! So I timed myself, and it took 23 minutes. That's longer than I've ever waited at Pop Century! The line was huge and barely moving, and the family behind me eventually left.
It was finally my turn and I explained to the clerk about having only one bed. She apologized for the mistake repeatedly and assigned me another room immediately, but she did not apologize for making me stand there waiting 23 minutes in line to talk to the front desk, which is what actually bothered me. The wrong room is no big deal.
Tip: I later realized that I should have called from the wrong room to guest services to demand a different room, which is all the front desk did. She didn't look up her own computer, she called somebody. But at the time, I never imagined that there would be a giant line at the front desk.
So we got our new room and found that it to be beautiful, with a clear view of Magic Kingdom, a free upgrade! So my son went to open the balcony door and couldn't. I helped him and opened the door, and I noticed that the door latch was broken with a screw so loose that it came out and the hinge was bent. I examined it closely and realized that the latch is so poorly desiged that you can't tell if the door is latched or not, meaning that people will constantly pull on it with force while it's latched, making it broken all the time. I so called maintenance, who came promptly to fix the screw, but they didn't change the latch, so their problem will continue. This is room 8225 in Boca Chica building. A simple label showing which way the latch turns is open and close will solve the problem.
My kids sat in the balcony and played cards, with the sun bright, the sky clear, in view of Magic Kingdom. It was magical!
The room was renovated, beautiful and very clean. It has a gorgeous lamp that looks like the glass vase where Beast kept his rose. It is the most beautiful lamp I’ve ever seen. The bathroom mirror is incredibly beautiful! It doesn’t look so in pictures, but in real life it just looks stunning and took my breathaway. I remember the old bathroom in the Grand being totally drab, so this is a huge improvement.
We went to Magic Kingdom on the Monorail (5 minutes wait, 5 minutes trip), then came back to swim. That's when I noticed another problem. The main pool with the water slide does NOT have a hot tub. I never noticed this before because it was always summer when we stayed in the past. This time in February, my kids had great fun until they got colder and colder. The quiet pool has a hot tub, but that's a long walk in the wind. That's why the quiet pool had more people than the main pool. I don't know why they can't put a hot tub in main pool. There is a giant toddler play area that's far bigger than necessary. In comparison, the Polynesian has 3 hot tubs, and even moderate hotels such as Coronado Springs or Caribbean Beach have hot tubs next to their water slides, and they cost a fraction of the Grand.
For dinner, we ate at the food court called Gasparilla. I recommend the Caprese sandwich if you like cold sandwiches. Most importantly, we got the dessert called the coconut cream and the almond cheese cake. It is so much better than the dessert we got when we stayed at Sugarloaf Club Level! And it's not even very expensive, no more than a Mickey ice cream bar but much fancier. We ate the dessert in our room at 8 pm as our own "Fireworks Dessert Party," when the fireworks went off. We even heard the fireworks music on the balcony. After the fireworks, there was the boat light show with music. Talk about magical!
Then we went back to Magic Kingdom along the walking trail (10 minutes, same as Monorail). There was extended magic hours for deluxe hotel guests. My son had gotten the virtual queue for Tron during the extended magic hour. He got on Tron for the first time after a short wait, came back and was stunned. Magic Kingdom was nearly empty and most rides were walk on.
Afterwards, we walked back to the hotel. The walkway is brand new and gorgeous: you see the lake reflecting all the lights of the Magic Kingdom and the Contemporary Resort as the Monorail rumbling past above you.
At night, our room was cold. I couldn't get the temperature to go above 70 degrees. I had the same problem recently at the Contemporary and Boardwalk Inn, and I realized something. These hotels are old and being that Florida is cold only rarely, there's no point in fixing up the heaters. I did not have such problems at Caribbean beach or Pop Century: their air conditioner/heater unit spit out heat even in the summer.
Tip: ask for extra blankets if you like to sleep hot, though sleeping cold is supposed to be more healthy.
The Monorail is very packed during rush hours or even dinner time, when non-hotel guests come to eat at the Grand’s numerous restaurants. Going to Magic Kingdom from the Grand is a breeze during non-busy hours, but anywhere else is a pain. To get to Epcot, for example, you have to go on the Monorail, wait 2 stops before you get to the TTC, where you transfer to a different Monorail to Epcot, which takes at least 40 minutes.
To go to anywhere else such as Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, or Disney Springs, you have to share a bus with the Polynesian Resort, which means your travel is increased by 50%, and the bus is always crowded. This might have been OK back in the day, but with Disney keep adding rooms and building new DVC units, it is just not reasonable to have the Grand sharing buses while charging $1000 a night, especially if you consider the fact that the Disney's All Stars hotels don’t share buses even though they are dirt cheap and right next to each other.
The worst part about the Grand is the bus stop, which is so small that it only allows one bus at a time. All other Disney bus stops allow at least 3 buses to stop at the same time. So if 2 buses arrive at the same time, and the first one has to load or unload a scooter, why, the other bus will just have to wait at the stop sign, holding up traffic. That makes no sense at all. In the mornings, the bus stops become so full that people have to stand in the walkway while pushing through the crowd to get to the right bus – you might want to get on the Hollywood Studios bus that just arrived, but the Animal Kingdom people are standing in front of you and refusing to move out of the way because they can’t, there’s no room. Right next to the bus stop is a grassy area with plenty of room, and Disney should really pave over that to make room for another bus to stop and people to stand.

The problems we had did not detract us from having a magically grand time. Therefore, despite our problems, I am giving the Grand 5 stars because it is the Grand! How can you give it any less?

Suggestions to Disney concerning the Grand:
1. Redesign the balcony door lock.
2. Put a hot tub in the water slide pool by carving out part of the toddler splash area.
3. Expand the bus stop.
4. Don’t make the Grand share a bus with anybody, that’s just embarrassing.
5. Get a bus to Epcot so that the Monorail isn’t so packed during busy hours.

Requested a stepping stool at the Front Desk and Housekeeping delivered to room in less than 10 min. Probably one of the best Resorts if you plan to visit Magic Kingdom. Not to mention the convenience of taking the Boat or Monorail to Magic Kingdom. The grounds are gorgeous and the Front Desk staff are accommodating. Rooms do need to be updated but are spacious. Better dining options at the Polynesian Village Resort next door. The Pool area is beautiful, Mrs. loved the H20 bath products. Tip 1: walk when heading from the Grand Floridian to the Polynesian Village Resort, it is faster than taking the Monorail. Take the Monorail when going from Polynesian Village Resort to Grand Floridian. Tip 2: Dining trends towards the expensive side if you are delayed (scroll below to read about Narcoossee's) or looking for full service restaurants. Tip 3: stop by local Publix and get some snacks & bottled water for the kids. There was no bottled water in our room. Now for the not soo positive. We were delayed at the rental car counter, could not reach Narcoossee's in time, and have to pay "No Show Fee” of $10 per person. If we do re-visit- we will dedicate one day at the Grand Floridian (splash pool, water slides, playground, live music in the lobby, movies on the lawn) and make fewer dining reservations.

I just love this thoughtful and detailed review of your visit to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa! From the grandiose lobby and lush landscapes to the tiniest of details like our H2O+ products, you really covered all your bases! While I’m certainly thrilled to learn of your enchanting experiences with our complimentary transportation, spacious accommodations, courteous Cast Members, and relaxing amenities, it’s disappointing to learn of the challenges you encountered with your dining reservation. Should you happen to experience any further challenges in your future visits, we always encourage our Guests to stop by the Front Desk for assistance. It is our goal to ensure a seamless vacation experience for everyone, and the Cast Members at your Resort will always be happy to assist! Mohit, thank you for taking the time to share these tips. We hope your next visit is “practically perfect in every way!” Kenzi Disney Social Reviews

We have been to Disney World numerous times however have never stayed at the Grand Floridian until this last trip. The beauty of the resort, the superior service and the fabulous location place this particular hotel at the top of Disney’s offerings in my eyes.
Covid restrictions did dampen what I could only imagine would make this location even more attractive than it is— the spa services, the character dining experiences and some of the amenities were on hold until further notice. The abundance of ever present staff was notable, and of all the members that we did interact with, they were none that were anything but friendly, helpful, and bent over backwards to assist us with whatever it was that we needed. I mean everyone!
The grounds, the rooms and other venues were spotless. Our room was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed – – we were pleasantly surprised by an upgrade in our room to one with a balcony overlooking the water. The beds were beyond comfortable with lots and lots of pillows and the bathrooms stocked with plenty of luxurious toiletries needed during our stay. Even though the idea of mobile ordering of food at some of the quick serve places was born from Covid restriction recommendations, it worked beautifully— no lines, quick to get food, service with a smile. Privately I’m hoping that this carries over beyond Covid
Beautiful pools, nighttime activities with some Covid rearrangement but overall my favorite Disney resort so far

I'm so excited you tried out a stay here and enjoyed such a magical experience from beginning to end. It certainly seems like from your wonderful room upgrade, our spectacular Cast Members and gorgeous views, this entire adventure was pure luxury all wrapped up in pixie dust! The building is beautiful and stands out among all other hotels. It has a very southern feel. However, my experience with a family of five was unpleasant. We had problems with our magic bands which caused us problems at the entrance of every park and with scheduling passes. Despite the Manager (Mathew) saying it was resolved the next day, we continued to have problems. Each time we were diverted to another long line for guest services. In fact at a PizzaRizo restaurant, a purchase went through without a pin. I set a pin...what happened? Some pictures did not scan to my bands. Then, the hotel room has large fluorescent stains on walls, carpets and bathroom. Basically, I didn’t want to walk around the room barefoot specially with little ones wanting to sit on floor. There was literally not enough space for a family of 5 in that room at Boca Chica building. The balcony we got was..,well less than charming with two chairs facing a wall. The distance from our room to the front desk was quite a distance. So remember after walking 15 miles, this is another hurdle. The sofa-bed has one strap ripped. I really felt gross for my 6 year old who had to sleep there. Then, we were unable to make reservations at any restaurant on day 2 at the hotel nor were they taking walk-ins at their restaurants. We have 3 children 6 and under and they were STARVING. So warming MAKE reservations ahead of time! Again warning you will be left starving! We tried to call the front desk and each time the system said “wait time is 60 minutes.” So we couldn’t get any help from ANYONE. We HAD to leave the property and rushed to a restaurant 40 minutes away from the property at 9 pm with starving kids. The room had no radio/alarm, no slippers, no instructions on how to get food delivered or alternatives. We were basically abandoned an on our own! Basically we checked out early and stayed with family nearby at an Airbnb Global Resort home. I wish we knew about these homes earlier. This is a property I will never visit again nor can I recommend for families of five with little ones under the age of 6.

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent visit to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. As this landmark getaway is one of our most recognizable and popular Resorts, it is incredibly disheartening to learn your experience was anything less than magical. From the location and cleanliness of your room, to the technical challenges with your MagicBands, I sincerely apologize for the frustrations you encountered throughout your visit. Please be assured, your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we will certainly be sharing your concerns with the proper Leadership team. We were so excited to book our February 2021 honeymoon stay at Grand Floridian. That excitement ended the second our transportation (private luxury car) dropped us off in front of the hotel. I had intended on checking in inside so I could ask the front desk questions about our accommodations. We were ordered instead to checkin at the plexiglass-surrounded valet stand located outside the hotel. The grumpy valet wouldn’t answer basic questions and gruffly rushed us.
Next, we had less than alert table service at The Enchanted Rose. Our poor , elderly server could barely hold our drinks on her tray as she spilled them with every step. We had to flag down other servers to tell her to come over for additional food and drinks, and again for our bill.
We were excited to visit the fancy shops in the resort, but were often not greeted by the staff because they were too busy talking in groups of 4 about how Disney only called back the “bad workers with seniority “. We heard these kind of conversations at each shop and restaurant. We had to interrupt staff to ask questions, and found the staff didn’t know the answers and didn’t know how to use the registers at time of payment. I can understand low morale during the pandemic, but these times don’t excuse unprofessional behavior. Employees within the parks were better at hiding their discontent most of the time.
When I picked up the in-room phone to ask for our toilet to be cleaned on the third day of our stay, the operator sighed loudly and said someone would be up to service it shortly. Hours later, I called again and experienced the same attitude when asking to have our toilet cleaned. They finally sent someone hours later.
So, I’m paying a lot of money for no maid service, rotten attitudes from staff, and horrible spotty bus services around the resorts/parks. We tried to share our experiences with hotel management to no avail. My advice is to avoid staying here and instead receive better service at an outside hotel where one does not expect too notch Disney service.

This is the fourth time I've stayed at this hotel. Each time I've stayed they've been building a new building of rooms. The price of the rooms has literally doubled since I first came here. All the new rooms they've added are equally expensive. There are *exactly* the same number of restaurants as my first stay. It seems the expectation is one can plan every meal of every day 30 days in advance, and book all of your meals for all of the days you stay. I suppose there are people who like that, I like a little less rigidity? And more options. Disney is a closed circle. You can't easily run out to another hotel, or across the street to a non Disney restaurant. If they want it that way, they need to build a few more. Arriving here without having made reservations there are incredibly limited options for "table service" dining. We got into one after sitting on hold for 10 minutes with non stop blaring hold music, and the restaurant today had fine dining prices, and just kind of average food.

Same goes for the parks, which are harder to build than new blocks of rooms. You can't get "fast pass" access unless you are also a spreadsheet, hyper organized person who knows thirty days in advance everything you want to do at every minute. They are waaaaay overselling rooms and not expanding attraction access to meet the additional people. I would expect prices to go up over time, but not if what you get for it is diminishing with each new huge block of just pretty average hotel rooms. The spa was also fully booked over our 6 day stay, and the spa is exactly the same size as the spa was when I first stayed here. Again. Disney is making no effort to accommodate all the many extra people they are building and charging premium prices for rooms for "on the property."

As someone who has visited with us a few times before, I'm so sorry to hear your most recent visit to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa was a disappointing experience for you. I absolutely understand the desire to have a little more flexibility during your vacation; while we do offer our Guests the ability to make those dining reservations up to 180 days prior to their visit, please note that finding same-day availability at many locations is an option. The My Disney Experience app makes it easy to check for availability and you can even filter your results to find something that fits what you're craving. Especially in the Magic Kingdom Park Resort Area, our wonderful Resorts have many options and getting from place to place is easy thanks to the monorail! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We hope to welcome you back for a more memorable experience soon. Liz Disney Social Reviews

Six years ago we had a wonderful stay here so decided to return with our adult kids and families. From the original call to Disney Travel problems arose. I booked three rooms, club level for what I thought was off peak and inquired why it was so crowded The agent said it was most guests book 500 days in advance. Had I been told it was a marathon weekend I would have changed my dates. The misinformation continued with each phone call to "Signature Services" from inquiries of kids life vests, availability of Rose in lounge, Park Fare dining reservation times (7:35 Cinderella Dinner really means after 8:00pm) and more. Upon arrival we were not greeted, nor was there anyone to help with our luggage. One of the three rooms was ready so we finally figured out where to go (Club level guests can check in there the info said) and left all our belongings in that room as the others weren't ready until nearly 4:00. Blaming the marathon crowds was no reason to ignore other guests. Even the transportation system to parks affected us.The Club staff was courteous and helpful, but the amount of misinformation due to miscommunication between them and Disney phone staff was frustrating and made for a disappointing vacation. Maybe Disney has just over saturated themselves with resorts and can't properly train associates any more. If you are coming to Disneyworld for both the parks and an elegant hotel stay, skip this location unless they can get their act back together.

Karen, I'm truly sorry to hear your recent visit wasn't as wonderful as your last. It certainly sounds like we had some service misses and I appreciate you taking the time to share those concerns with us; feedback such as yours is absolutely crucial in our mission to provide the best possible experience to all Guests. When choosing dates for visits, I always recommend that our Guests check our website to learn more about events and offerings that may be going on around Walt Disney World Resort; especially if you're looking to avoid more popular weekends, that is the best way to ensure you're here during the time that works best for you. However, I do want to note that no matter the time of year, our Cast Members are expected to provide outstanding service. I'm glad you felt that was the case with many of our Club Level Cast Members, but otherwise, I apologize for the frustrations you shared. I want to sincerely thank you for writing your review, Karen. Rest assured that your concerns have been heard and we truly look forward to providing you with a more magically memorable experience soon. Liz Disney Social Reviews

My family and I just returned from a WDW trip that included a 4 night stay at the G.F. in the Sago Cay building. Every cast member that we encountered was friendly and eager to help or answer questions. The hotel and grounds are immaculate. Our room was nice (although not spectacular, especially the shower, considering the price). We very much enjoyed sitting on our balcony and watching the monorails glide past. It was also very quiet in our building a night. The resort is designed in a way that no matter where your room is located, you are close to the main hotel building, the boat launch, bus stop and pools. It is important to note that Covid protocols are still in place, and your stay will not exactly be a "normal" one. Housekeeping will not clean your room or make the beds. They stop by every other day to bring clean towels and empty the trash, but that is all they do. The quick service restaurant takes orders through the My Disney Experience mobile ordering system only. You cannot enter the restaurant and browse for a bite to eat or a snack. It is also important to note that at the present time, the monorail is only running to the Magic Kingdom and the Contemporary Resort. Since WDW re-opened they have not resumed the route to Epcot. The station at the Polynesian is also closed, so it cannot stop there either. It is necessary to take a bus to Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. We absolutely felt that this lessened the value of staying at a monorail resort. Overall, we had a great stay and would stay here again.

I am overjoyed reading about your magical visit with us at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. I’m thrilled to read your family’s stay was practically perfect in every way and you are already planning to return. I apologize that our transportation offerings this visit felt lacking, especially while our Resorts go through some reimagining. I appreciate the feedback you shared and have gone ahead and shared it with our Leadership teams as well. We can’t wait to welcome you back home for another wonderful vacation again real soon. Staying at one of the Disney Deluxe resorts on the monorail had been a bucket list item for years. I was able to fulfill that, but it definitely did not live up to my expectations. The room was nice as well as the grounds though not worth the price. I also had an issue with the room temperature unable to be set lower than 68 which for me is too warm at night. I inquired at the front desk & was told that they could lower it and that someone would be there within 15-20 minutes, nobody ever came. That is unacceptable for a hotel of this cost. Save your money & book a moderate or value resort.

I was at the GrandFloridian for 3 nights with 2 rooms spending over $1000 per night. The check in process was difficult. The online app check-in did not work, so I spent 30 min in line to check and finally get my key. The hotel is tired and in poor repair. If you look around you see peeling wallpaper, chipped paint and the cleanliness is poor. As usual, the hotel and parks were packed when we were there. It was wall to wall people and impossible to social distance in high trafficked areas. Hand sanitizer stations are basically for appearance only; most don't work or were empty. I requested housekeeping services while there. They said housekeeping was per request only and only every other day, so I requested it, and no one ever came. I called each day and they assured me housekeeping would come by, at an agreed designated time, and no one ever came despite promises. We had absolutely NO HOUSEKEEPING for the entire 3 days we were there. We called each day and were hung up on by the front desk! I was shocked! This is unacceptable at this price point. Having dirty surroundings is not helping covid! It would be different if upon booking, it was stated there would be no housekeeping services because of covid (I'm so sick of that excuse), and I would have stayed in a VRBO for fraction of the cost. Guests should be notified ahead of booking or get a discount as they obviously aren't paying housekeeping staff. I've been traveling plenty during this pandemic and this was the first time I have seen a property neglect offering cleaning services. I will never stay here again and do not recommend. Also the bedding is awful. The sheets are poor quality and the blanket was like a thin hospital blanket. It was uncomfortable and pathetic. They also do not provide any drinking water in your room or anywhere so you have to buy all your water. The whole experience really ruined our vacation!

My fiancé and I had a couples massage. We were able to use both areas before and after the service. I hope this helps!

We were there in May and all of the work was being done on only one building. That building was closed to guests. Although we could see and hear the work being done while at the pool, it wasn’t too obtrusive. The main building, lobby and restaurants were not being redone when we were there.
