Hotel's Favourite
We had room 103, a poolside cabana room. It was great. Plenty of room and a private patio through French doors. Not crazy about the shower (or the toilet paper, frankly! Lol). The shower was more fancy than functional, and it was difficult to regulate the water temperature. Other than that, no complaints. It was immaculately clean and housekeeping is provided unless you indicate you don't want it. The front desk has someone there 24 hours a day, and they were all very friendly and professional. Coffee and water are also avaliable 24 hours, and you get breakfast vouchers for the Mermaid just a short distance walk. Six breakfast choices included, and nice. I have seen other reviews mention the rooms are small, but we didn't find that. One suggestion I would make would be to add mini fridges in rooms, like ours, where space allows. It is also in a great location. Right by the river so removed from the hustle-bustle of the main strip, but within walking distance to all the great restaurants and shops.

On arrival we were impressed with the valet parking and the way our bags were taken out and up to our room before we had even finished checking in! We've never seen such a quaint reception area combining a gift shop with reception. It worked though as my wife loved browsing the items for sale. Our room on the first floor had access to a shared verandah and a view over the pool. Not over large but everything was there. Pre-ordered breakfast was delivered to the room and was totally adequate. We dined in the restaurant next to the hotel which shares the site but we understand is run independently and that was very convenient. Overall made a very interesting one-night stop on our journey north. Recommended.

This is an old Victorian mansion that has been converted to a hotel. There is a well equipped gift shop by the front desk and a restaurant attached. I believe there is a spa on property as well. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms are absolutely charming. Ours was Victorian inspired, with a comfortable bathroom with tub/shower combo, a king bed, adequate storage, a safe, large screen TV and high end toiletry products (La Occitane). Our room had double french doors leading right out to the pool, with a semi-private seating area. Bikes were available for free, so we took advantage of them and biked out to the nearby (drive-on) beach and did our sightseeing while getting some exercise. Walking distance to many shops, restaurants and bars. Will definitely stay here again.

Overall, it's a cute place with lots of characteristic, but it is definitely not worth the price. It is very outdated and needs a lot of maintenance and updates to furniture, doors, floors, entire building, etc.
Every room has different furniture and a different layout, so you can't be sure what you will be getting, but it does add to the charm. Some layouts are very odd with columns and walls in the middle. The poolside cabana rooms are cute, but the door to the pool is very old and doesn't lock well, they also let in a lot of noise. It is nice to be able to step right out to the pool and have your own patio. However, these rooms are extremely tiny.
There is a very cute boutique gift shop in the lobby, as well as a free coffee bar. Breakfast is included at the restaurant next door, but the food that comes with your hotel breakfast vouchers is not very good quality.
It is within walking distances to many restaurants and shops. The staff is very friendly. Parking isn't great, if you can't find spots up close then it's a bit of a walk to the back parking lot. I think if they made updates to the building rooms and furniture, and cleaned the bathroom tile, it would be more with the high end prices. Because of this, I would not choose to stay here again unless updates are made.

We needed a getaway from our sweet town. We saw a place called Bongoland on a website called “Only in Florida”. So, we had our destination. We needed a great place to stay and Riverview had good ratings. So, we tried it.
It sits at the beginning of the street with about 6 or 7 blocks of stores and restaurants. The neighborhood consists of beautiful historic homes that you can tell people have taken great pride in keeping the character and putting tasteful fresh colors on their homes.
As we walked in the historic building there was a shop with home goods, clothing along with four different sitting areas for coffee in the morning and/or buying a bottle of wine for the evening.
The young man that greeted us was ready to assist and check us into this adorable place.
As you walk down the hallway to your room you notice the Millwork throughout, the chandeliers in the hallway, and the current carpeting. We entered our room to find our king bed with lovely white sheets surrounded by very tasteful furnishings. Through the silk curtains and French doors was a lovely patio with two chair, table, and a chaise to enjoy a pool with Spanish tile around the rim. Wow! Impressive. The bathroom was all modernized except the floor that had tiles that may have been original to the building, giving you a taste of the history of the building.
When we checked in, we were given two “tickets” with about 5 choices for breakfast at the cottage next door in the morning. It was scrumptious and the people working there were welcoming and really wanted everyone to enjoy their delicious food.

I picked the Riverview hotel at the spur of the moment .
Location was perfect less than 5 min walk to restaurants , bars, shopping and the beach.
I can not tell you how happy I am that I chose this hotel.
From the moment I walked in I felt very comfortable, I was greeted with awesome customer service even though they wore mask I could see their smiles due to how sweet everyone was .. from the front desk to the house keeper, and I must say she did a superb job you can tell she took pride in her rooms making sure they where very comfortable and clean .. I’ve stayed at many 5 star hotels but I must say Riverview customer service and room are by far the best..
I felt so comfortable and safe staying there I did not lock my room when I left or slept ..
I had the Yacht room’s they had switched me from one room to the another due to overlap bookings but both where beautiful rooms , very spacious , beautiful views , big balconies and the housekeeper moved my stuff from one room to another and did a beautiful job..
This place and the staff deserves 5 stars
Highly recommend. I will return in a heartbeat!

We loved this hotel and our room which was very comfortable. Lobby is fabulous with great sitting areas and gift shop. Rooms are not large but the size is adequate for a short stay. Hotel itself is very quaint. Highlights include, free wine and cheese on Fridays at 5pm, free bikes to ride around the town, and continental breakfast served to your room every morning. We didn't use but they also have a very nice pool deck with lots of deck chairs. Spa and restaurant are right next door but we did not go there. Its also a short walk to the Flagler street shops and restaurants. Beach is probably a 15 min walk. Overall, it was a great couples retreat. Can't wait to return.

Perfect get away in New Smyrna. The hotel is located along the river and at the end of Flagler street away from the restaurants and shops. Its a easy walk to everything. It’s an old Home turned into a hotel but they’ve done a great job remolding. The staff are friendly. The rooms are spacious and clean. Honestly no complaints and would definitely stay here again.

So my husband and I have been going back and forth on how we feel about The Riverview Hotel. Our overall consensus is that we loved our stay and recommend this hotel for other couples looking for a romantic getaway, we just don't know if we will be back.
Pros:
1. The hotel is breathtakingly beautiful. For being as old as it is, it is VERY well maintained. It has that perfect "old Florida" feel.
2. The hotel staff was VERY, very nice.
3. The hotel has a lovely wrap around porch and our room had a lovely view of the river.
4. Close proximity to the spa (at an offsite location a very short walk away from the hotel) and to the Grille at Riverview
5. The Pool was very well maintained. They had an easily accessible ice machine, small store for essentials and other lux goodies.
6. It was just darn pleasant.
Cons.
1. It is an OLD hotel. You know what you are getting into when you go. The bathroom was very small and at times felt uncomfortable.
2. The breakfast situation was a bit odd. I loved the idea of having breakfast brought to our room every morning, but the delivery was a bit loud and cumbersome. Just wasn't our thing (but it may well be yours!) .
3. I thought that the walls were a bit thin. I could hear our neighbors talking. It was just a bit outside of my comfort zone.
4. The porch is not private - it is shared with others on your floor.
5. It was a bit far away from the beach and other Flagler Ave. popular spots (and by far, I mean like a 10 min walk to the beach, not horrible, just not as close as some other hotels that we saw).
6. Housekeeping did not come to our room (we had a 2 night stay). This was likely due to C-19 protocols. Not a big deal, but just something to be aware of.
Overall, we had a wonderful time. Before staying here, I think that you need to remind yourself that you are coming here for the experience of staying at a boutique, historic inn. The charm of this place definitely outweighs the quirks, and it is worth experiencing just once! Also, I cannot stress this enough GO TO THE SPA! It is AMAZING!!

Pros - The hotel is in a great location, very quaint and historical. We were in a premium room, 2nd floor overlooking the pool. The room was well appointed, although a little smaller than we expected. Loved having the shared balcony to escape too and it was nice meeting our neighbors. My favorite thing is the spa music in the background while sitting outside by the pool. The location makes it easy to walk to the beach up Flagler Avenue. Having the restaurant on the property was an added perk, sitting on the deck overlooking the river was very peaceful for happy hour. Cons - The woman that checked us in was rude. She insisted we wear a mask and then didn't like the mask I wore and started to give me another one. I told her I had another one and put that one on instead. She didn't like that mask either and sent another employee to check us in, while she completely ignored us. After that, we came and went through the back door all weekend in order to avoid her. We never went down to see the gift shop although it looked like they had some cute things. Upon checking out, we had to take the keys back to the desk. I walked in the front door, ready to put on my mask on and the two employees at the desk were not wearing masks. What is up with that?

call the hotel to check availability
I didn't see one, but I would call and ask if they have anything that works.
I don't believe they allow pets as I do not recall seeing any pets when I stayed. As mentioned in other post, I would suggest contacting the Hotel directly.
Its very old and I do not believe they have an elevator.
I was not aware of any pleasant odors but I would not be surprised if they do. Any hotel on the water would need to spray to keep away mildew and mold from all the moisture.
