Detailed Reviews
Luckily, we had failed to read the negative reviews before booking and staying at Ocean Beach Club. We can be pretty picky, but did not consider our room either dirty or bug-infested. Beach, pool, and view were great! I will say that it would have been nice to know there was daily maid service instead of noticing someone had been in our room when we came up from the beach. Housekeeping could be a little cleaner, but a little dust on the lamps did not ruin our stay. Unit 805 was nice and comfy.

The condo itself was very well equipped (although no blender) and amazing view of the ocean. Very nicely renovated. We booked through VRBO and everything was as advertised. The first hiccup was the refrigerator filter was over 6 months expired so we had to buy water and ice. The second was that the single cup coffee maker would not work properly. I tried 4 times and could not get a proper cup of coffee. Not enough to ruin the stay of course but annoying for the hefty 4 night $3,000 price tag. The real frustration is they text you daily offering to swap your towels for clean ones. DON’T fall for it! Keep your original towels and never let them go. They do not have enough for the entire building so if you take them down you may never see a towel again. On day 3 We took our towels, wash cloths, floor mats, and towels for 6 people down at noon. They told us it would be a couple hours and we were first
on the list. We checked at 3:00 pm in person and they said they still weren’t ready. We checked again at 4:00 and same song and dance. I finally went at almost 5 and there were stacks of folded towels but they refused to give them to me saying they were for another room. I stood my ground and said I wasn’t leaving the desk until I had towels. I settled for 5 large towels. We never saw another wash cloth, hand towel, or floor mat. I find this utterly ridiculous. You know how many people are staying and thus know how many sets you need. It clearly shows very poor planning and management. We had to rush 5 people through showers so we could make our dinner reservation and used dirty beach towels for floor mats to soak up the water. We decided to wash our personal beach towels but found out the laundry room closes so we had to wait until the next day at 8:00 am to wash our towels before we could go to the beach. Doing laundry (and paying for it) is not something I planned to do while on vacation. So to summarize, staying here would be wonderful if you bring your own linens, blender and water and expect nothing from the management. They try to run this like a hotel and fail miserably. And as for parking we did see them towing cars so be sure you always display your hang tag. We had no problem there. On a side note Molly and Brittney were delightful and likely don’t deserve the angry guest backlash. I hate having to get angry with staff but not being able to shower after 8 hours on the beach and paying an exorbitant amount of money for less than stellar accommodations burns you up a bit.

+1
Positive:
Great location! Walking distance to restaurants and shopping on Flagler Avenue.
Pool and beach is fenced off to stop others from entering the property.
Coin operated laundry on main floor works and there is a change machine on site.
Driving beach in front of building is beautiful.
Friendly staff at the check-in counter.
Note:
The sun disappears at lunch time by the pool at this time of year, so pool time in the afternoon is chilly.
Areas that could use improvement:
Pool table and video game don’t work but do accept your money. Agent on site doesn’t have a key to fix.
There are no umbrellas to block sun on the deck or pool deck.
Concrete outdoor furniture is falling apart and should be replaced.

Thanks for your feedback. We've contacted the game machine people to service their machines, sorry for that experience. We're working on new umbrellas and fixing the patio tables. The storms did some damages and it's unfortunately taking longer than we would like for the Association to have those repaired. They are on the list, just awaiting supply and labor issues to resolve. Glad you enjoyed your stay and the location. We do hope to see you again the next time you're in New Smyrna Beach. We'll be sure those items are all working and looking great.

Would leave 0 stars if possible. If you want to constantly worry about your car getting towed great place to stay. Had to pay 120 to just have him drop my car while sitting still in the parking with the parking pass in my car. Oceania says they have no affiliation with the towing company but after talking with employees of the Oceania the owner gets a percentage of the money the towing company makes. Very shady business practices. Told them we needed a broom to sweep up all the sand I slipped and fell on when walking in the bedroom just after checking in. Oceania said it’s not sand it’s just the extremely old tile. The front desk also said we requested first floor room when we preferred anything but first floor. Then told us we were liars, once again very unprofessional and horrible business interactions. You work in the hospitality industry. It was anything but hospitable.

Mr Perri, while you are free to post reviews please be sure they are accurate. NOBODY gets a percentage of money from the towing company as that is illegal by state/county law. While we are sorry for your experience, we - Oceania Beach Club - have no affiliation with the towing company. We simply issue passes on behalf of the HOA, they contract with towing company. Any issue with the towing company should be handled directly with them. Please note: no one called you a liar, the floors were cleaned just before. your arrival, and - due to the damages you left behind - we had to bring in special equipment (aerator to remove smoke damage & tile cleaner to remove stains left behind) before we could rent the room to the next guest. While we could charge you for the damages we chose not to due to the unfortunate towing experience. Again, sorry for your experience with the towing company.

We have taking our back to school family vacation every year here for the past 8 years. Every year we get the same room or one comparable and it was always beautiful, updated rooms with all the necessities of home. This year when we got there we had to wait for our room to be ready which is totally understandable. Finally they said we were on the bottom floor instead of the 5th. No arguing, we just complied until we walked in the room. Completely outdated style, it looked like a cheap motel no beachy decor just paint peeling, the bathroom floor had broken tiles, comforter had stains, Leather couch was shredded and cracked bedroom wall had a hole stuffed with paper towels in it, kitchen had no cooking items, and the frying pan I found was greasy with food stuck on it. We're a family of 6 and it only had a queen and 2 twin beds, no pulled out couch. We plugged in our phone chargers and sparks came out of 2 sockets. When we explained all this, mainly the problem of not enough sleep space they said there was nothing they could do. Aparently they gave our room to someone else and we had no choice. Everywhere was booked so we were stuck. They did however change the bathroom lightbulb. We're not.people who are picky but this was like it was a room used for storage and they just cleared it out for us. No apologies from the front desk or offer any ways to make it better. One top of it they close the pool at 8:00 which they've never done in the past and theres still an hour and a half daylight! We will definitely find somewhere different next year!!!!

Ms. Toney, we addressed your concerns while on-site but glad to do so here again. You did not reserve a specific room. While in the past you may have always ended up in the same or similar room, rooms are not assigned before arrival unless specifically requested. And then only if available and guest is paying the correct rate for that requested room. Yes, we were unable to move you to another room due to being at full occupancy last weekend. And yes, that room is a bit outdated. We work with the owners to renovate but some resist. I do apologize for any cleanliness issues you found and have addressed that with our staff. Older room and worn out is one thing - unclean is not acceptable. I can assure you this was not a storage room, it was the best (and only) room available this weekend based on rates & occupancy. As for the pool - the HOA requires the pool to be closed at that time due to no lifeguard on duty and the setting sun. I'd love to keep it open longer into the night but the HOA doesn't allow that. I do understand your desire to stay somewhere else next year but if you change you mind and want to experience the new/updated Oceania Beach Club next year buzz me directly.

My family and I were so excited to stay here - it was Mother’s Day weekend and we were in town to celebrate a wedding. Upon checkin we noticed the rooms we booked were not particularly clean, shocking but we were willing to overlook this. The views of the beach were incredible. Upon further inspection of the rooms, we discovered one of them didn’t have functioning lights - one light by the door worked and the bathroom lights worked. No others in the common area or bedrooms worked. Again, we could get past this. In the third room the refrigerator wasn’t working. It was there, it just wasn’t in functioning order.
Our first morning down on the beach I returned to my room to find the maids leaving, laughing about smelling beautiful. They had gone through my room and sprayed my perfume, and then had the gall to openly joke about it. When I reported this to the desk staff and the HEAD OF HOUSEKEEPING the response was a nonchalant “okay.” No apology, not even a feigned look of concern. Just an “okay.”
Okay? Okay. I received an automated text shortly after asking how my stay was so far, and after reporting that I would like to receive a phone call regarding my stay, I was contacted by one of the property managers. When the incident was relayed to him he was apologetic, but again, nothing was done.
Later on that afternoon, the same four individuals who had violated my privacy were leaned up on the balcony overlooking the parking lot, laughing like hyenas as they watched a car get hitched to be towed away. So, to be clear, you don’t have time to properly clean rooms during a pandemic, but you have time to rifle through guest belongings and use what you please, as well as sit around and watch a towing service?
Not only am I appalled by the behavior of the staff at this site but I am disgusted by the lack of regard from management as well. For the amount of money to stay here a night, do yourself a favor and choose another location. This one is not worth it at all. The misbehavior and mismanagement was staggering.

Please note that I did reach out to your party and handled the situation. We truly apologize for your experience and have taken steps to ensure such actions never happen again.

Don’t stay here if you don’t want to worry about your vehicle being towed. My son’s parking pass fell off the mirror onto the floor of his vehicle and the car was towed at a cost $230 to retrieve. It’s a known fact among the locals that the property gets a cut of the tow charge. The Uber driver we used to get to the tow pound told us that many guest experience this.
Baseboards were off bedroom walls. It looked like a tenement. Front desk told me that the missing baseboards were in the pictures of the condo. Ha, not very prominent.
The front desk staff were rude, condescending, and more importantly lacked respect. I spent over $3000 for four nights for two condos. There are many other properties on the beach. Look elsewhere.

You won’t find another location anywhere like Oceania Suits. I travel quite a bit and New Smyrna beach is my favorite beach in the States. I have only been staying at Oceania suits for years (second home away from home) In fact, I had a destination wedding, and this is where all my guests including my groom and I stayed. You can walk to everything you could possibly need. Negative reviews talk about towing. Put your parking pass in your window of your car (duh).
This last time we stayed in condo 808. All condos are privately owned. I loved this one! Bathrooms had been updated. The décor was tastefully done and the VIEW! Being on the top floor is absolutely amazing. You can see the light house and all activities along Flagler Ave (main street) not to mention the beach and the ocean.
Perfect for my Family. You can’t go wrong.

Oceania Beach Club was a spectacular place to rent at New Syrmna Beach. Syrmna Beach has a keys feel to it. The beach club is only 2 blocks from great little boutiques and shopping. Tony & Joe’s is just out the door and great for breakfast/lunch. Also a 2 minute drive from Norwood’s and The Garlic—2 charming restaurants. The beach club has lovely accommodations and a great pool right on the beach. I have found my new favorite beach resort and will always choose the Oceania Beach Club. The staff could not be nicer to work with. Enjoy!!!

My stay at this place has shaken my comfidence in this website. I booked a three-day stay solely because TripAdvisor rated it as one of the best in the area. None of the reviews indicated that the beach in front of the hotel has almost entirely eroded. The condo itself was clean but furnished in a very ordinary wary. The desk staff greeted us apathetically and no effort was made to welcome us at all.
The real problems began the next morning when the housekeeping staff banged on the door. I shouted "Later." That did not stop them from bounding in upon me as I stood naked in the living room. They did not even apologize for this intrusion. In fact they laughed.
They did come back later, apparently to check if we had taken any towels. (There were stern warnings on the walls about taking towels, which were of the cheapest kind.) Over the whole three days, no cleaning was ever actually done though the staff had left an envelope, brazenly soliciting tips. On the final morning, as I was preparing to leave, one of the cleaning staff barged in and ordered me out, telling me it was past check-out time. Fortunately I was wearning boxer shorts this time. When I asked her why she had entered without my permission, this woman began verbally abusing me. When I told her to leave, she replied: "I do not like your attitude." Not once in the previous three days had a bed been made or any kind of cleaning done by this person or her staff.
All that morning (and it was Sunday) a sand-blasting machine had made a terrible racket, and also had cut off use of the swimming pool. I had planned to take a swim before leaving, but was by now thoroughly disgusted, so I went downstairs and asked for my bill.
To my astonishment they had added a half day's extra charge to the bill. (It was about two PM). When I complained about the behavior of the staff the desk clerk said she had nothing to do with that, and also said she could not remove the half-day charge. I had thus been simultaneously charged for a room, and been run out the same room!
Meanwhile the same housekeeper who claimed I needed to vacate the room so it could be cleaned had come to the desk and was standingt there, literally sneering at me. When I asked her to leave me alone, she walked away and, another guest told me, muttered obscenities at me.
I travel a great deal but I have never before encountered a situation in which the staff (1) brazenly demanded tips; (2) did no actual housecleaning; (3) abused me verbally and violated my privacy as a guest.
Nor have I ever before encountered a situation in which I was both charged extra for a room, and that told to leave it!
I am appalled at this behavior. During my entire stay there the only member of the staff who showed any courtesy was the security guard, who unfortunately had recently undergone brain surgery, and appreciated it when I offered him encouragement.
One fellow guest told me that this place had been good in the past, but that recently the staff had changed. TripAdvisor at least should have made clear that there was no beach at this supposed beach-front property!
I am asking that my extra charge be removed from my bill, and am filing a formal protest with the management and my credit card company, and I will report the results on this web site.
This brief account does not begin to show how unpleasant this experience was.
I will never again trust the TravelAdvisor ratings.
