The Seahorse Inn is an icon in the quaint but vibrant town of New Smyrna Beach. Built in 1956 it is a classic Motor Inn of the era when the Florida Coast started to see a boon in tourist travel. The motel has a retro feel with its knotty pine paneling, terrazzo floors, and classic brick design. Located in the heart of the entertainment district, it is only a 90 second walk to the beach, with a half dozen eating and drinking establishments within that 90 second stroll. Many guests have been returning for decades. The new owners, Terry and Ginny purchased the motel in May of 2021 and have set about restoring it to its original condition. A stay at the Seahorse evokes memories of a happier time! Don't miss it when you plan your beach vacation!

The Seahorse is a delightful motel just a block from the beach. This fifties style hotel gives me a feeling of nostalgia, reminding me of vacations past, before high rise condos dominated the landscape. The Seahorse has been renovated and brightly painted. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and attractive. The hotel staff is super friendly. We went to New Smyrna Beach without reservations and were drawn to the hotel with its charm.

This little motel is nothng fancy, but a perfect place to spend time at the beach and roaming Flagler Av. It is a one story brick motel from the 40's, I think. The rooms are simple, but very clean. It has a great charm about it. The staff is so friendly and we had a great time chatting with them and the many regular guests. If you are looking for a resort, this is not for you. But if you are looking for a cute, no frills place, right on the beach...go for it. We paid 85 a night with taxes and fees.
Beautiful sandy beach is within a 100 meters as well as great shops and restaurants. We recommend The Beacon. The staff makes you feel at home, food is great, good prices, and very clean. It is a local favorite. There are great shops with staff who are happy to give you any information about the town and its history.

That being said, we were quite happy. The manager was pleasant & helpful. The room was clean; the fridge worked; it was perfectly located. The only negative was the constant rumble of motorcycles - which was hardly a motel fault. This is Cycle Country !! And I don't mean BICYCLE!

We are currently staying at the Sea Horse in Room 1 and we LOVE it!! Lots of charm and nostalgia at the Sea Horse! This Iconic Inn is located in the Heart of Flagler where you are within walking distance to all the shops and Restaurants and the beach is right there!! It is older and definitely not fancy but that is why we adore it soo much!! The rooms are clean. The AC is ice cold, showers are hot and great pressure. There is cable tv,a coffee maker, microwave, and small fridge in every room! It is the perfect beach getaway at an affordable price! There are new owners, Terry & Virginia, who are putting in their heart and soul to restore The Historic Sea Horse to all her Charm and Beauty. They are currently replacing the roof and renovating each room. They are so friendly and really go out of their way to make your stay an awesome one. We look forward to making The Sea Horse a yearly tradition! It really is pretty great❤️

Thank you so much for your words! We look forward to your next visit to the Seahorse! Our goal is to make each visit a little better than the last one! Some changes will be large (roof), some small, (a little paint here and there), but we all of our guests to tell us what we did right, what we did wrong, and how we can make your next stay even better! Terry and Ginny!

I was planning a 3 night stay in NSB with my two teenage sons at the end of a coast to coast road trip. I’d visited the area before some 30 years ago and asked a friend that lives nearby where he recommended and he suggested the Seahorse Inn. The website was easy to book and the price was very reasonable considering the location. As we’d travelled along quite a bit of the historic route 66, the Seahorse Inn was the perfect environment to finish our trip.
Located near the end of Flagler Avenue, it’s literally a 90 second walk to the beautiful beach and theres some amazing restaurants and bars right on your doorstep. We were greeted by Ellen when we checked in at 6:30 on a Friday evening and I was immediately offered an ice cold cup of delicious fruit punch as a welcome! We were given a parking permit and the spaces are allocated to the room numbers so we were just a few feet away.
The motel is a true 50’s icon in terms of decor and every room and door is painted in lovely different colours. The roof has been recently replaced during what must’ve been a pretty extensive renovation and the whole place looks really great.
Upon being given the key to our room, the very modern air conditioner gave us a hit of respite from the Florida heat and the room itself was very clean and had everything we could need. There’s a fridge, coffee maker, modern TV with many channels and plenty of storage area. There’s a bench outside each door where you can sit and chat with your neighbours and enjoy a cigarette if you so desire.
There’s even an area in the corner of the parking lot where you can borrow beach chairs and cooler boxes.
All of the staff we met were lovely and offered great advice on local things to do and even where a good laudromat was as my washing had mounted up by the time we arrived!
Throughout our 16 day trip we’d stayed in numerous hotels, many in big chains like IHG and Holiday Inn, yet nothing matched the charm of The Seahorse Inn. Sure it was still 1956 in many ways and there’s no pool but with the warm shores of the Atlantic just next door, it wasn’t a problem at all. All I need is a comfy bed, efficient air conditioning, a powerful shower, decent TV and somehere I can park nearby. The Seahorse Inn has all of these plus a special bit of rustic charm of the Old Florida.
Far better than the awful generic breakfast buffets we’d endured in all the other chain hotels, walk 50 yards across the road to the fabulous Beacon Restaurant and enjoy the best pancakes and omelets you can imagine. Fancy some great food, live music and cold beers, Peanuts Bar is next door. You quite literally don’t have to leave Flagler Ave - there’s even a Seven Eleven right opposite.
I’m really looking forward to my next trip to Florida where I would love to stay here agian.

+1
We weren't planning to stay in New Smyrna Beach, but were having lunch at the Breakers (great beachfront bar/restaurant) as we were passing through the area and thought, why not, we don't have to go home quite yet! Did a quick search on hotels in the area of the Breakers, and Seahorse Inn popped up with availability for that evening, and at a reasonable price (it was fully booked by the time we returned to our room later that night), so we decided to go for it - are we glad we did! We were in Room #16 in the back corner (great quiet location), and Ellen at the front desk gave us a warm welcome with a delicious cold cup of rum punch, what a great start! The rooms are great reminders of how motor lodges used to be back before everything turned into generic mega-chain hotels - simple and clean, with wood walls and terrazzo floors, but with modern conveniences like a microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker, smart TV, and a convenient plug-in on the nightstand to charge your electronics. It's obvious they've done a lot to renovate the hotel and everything was clean and comfortable, with a perfect location to enjoy the best of everything the NSB/Flagler Ave beachside area provides! We'll gladly stay there again on future trips, and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy the nostalgia of how travel used to be!

Built in 1956, this quaint motel brings back memories of an “old Florida” beachside inn. Its charm, combined with the wonderful hospitality of the owners, Ginny and Terry, make you feel welcome from the minute you arrive. They even has treats ready for our little dog upon our arrival.
It is within walking distance to shops, restaurants and the beach. We will stay here again. Thanks! —Dolores, Kevin and Bandit

Great retro motel within walking distance to all Flagler Avenue has to offer and very short walk to the beach. Upon check in we were greeted by Ellen, who explained everything, and gave us a rum punch which was very refreshing!! Ellen is a wonderful asset to the motel, very friendly and the 2 days we were there, after she arrived she was out dusting off the windowsills and benches in front of every room. We also met Kevin and Lori who were just as friendly. The room was clean, and included mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot and tv. It had terrazzo floors and knotty pine walls. The new owners have GREATLY cleaned up and improved this motel. We would definitely stay here again!!
