A quaint Old Florida beach town is the setting for this elegant Spanish-Isle boutique inn overlooking the Indian River on Florida's East-central Atlantic Coast. Opened in 2013. The 14-room inn gets its name from the plentiful dolphin who gracefully patrol the waters off its dock. Furnishings include original artwork and antiques tastefully integrated with modern sensibilities. Guests share the spacious Great Room which includes a bar, open-air kitchen, sitting area and breakfast room. A complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast is served daily. Within walking distance of the shops and restaurants in New Smyrna Beach's historic downtown and a short distance from the seaside community's sprawling beaches.

This is a great place to stay with a very welcoming staff. It has a Mediterranean vibe to it and the rooms are quite modern. Breakfast is excellent and there are restaurants within walking distance. The Indian River is right outside your front door. There are 14 rooms and the inn has an interesting history. Check it out!

In early March, 2020, my husband and I enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Black Dolphin Inn. Due to a special promotion, we were able to secure a spacious, comfortable, and inviting bay view suite on the second floor. Particularly noteworthy were the kindness and attentiveness of the owners and staff, the delicious breakfasts, the handsome property, its superb location on the Intracoastal Waterway, and access to the dock across the street from the inn, where you could sit and watch the frolicking dolphins. Staying at the inn, you're within walking distance of the historic Canal Street shopping district (be sure to eat at Panheads Pizzeria!). The ocean beaches are a few minutes drive away. We highly recommend the Black Dolphin Inn and hope to return on a future visit to the area.

This Inn does not disappoint! We have always shied away from the bed & breakfast style, thinking it would not have privacy that we prefer. The Black Dolphin Inn is award winning for a reason! We arrived and were welcomed by Miss Patricia, who walked us around the property to show us the property and took our breakfast order. This visit was during the Pandemic, so there were a couple of adjustments which worked out just fine. The staff did a great job with social distancing!!! Our breakfast was delivered to the room instead of eating downstairs and fresh towels were delivered to our doorstep each day. Breakfast was so delicious! The second morning I opted for fruit & yogurt and they even made that look pretty!
The room was on the second floor and had a beautiful view of the river. The decor was as functional and comfortable as it was designer worthy! They have a full size keurig coffee maker in the room and a refrigerator to keep a few drinks cold. They are a little limited in selection of beverages so I’d probably pack a couple of cokes and snacks for late night. We also really enjoyed the dock area and walking to Canal Street. We are already planning to return next month for our 25th anniversary!

Black Dolphin Inn

New Smyrna Beach

776843334

October 19-21 we visited The Black Dolphin Inn. It is clear the owners took great pride in renovating this home into the treasure it is today. The Inn is unique, a total of 14 rooms and/or suites….each room decorated with uncommon appointments with a keen eye for detail and quality. It faces the Intracoastal waterway with a beautiful view.

You can fish from their dock (they provide fishing poles). They have bicycles you can use if you would like to have an outdoor experience or cycle on down to Canal Street with its shops. New Smyrna Beach is only several minutes by car.

The staff at The Black Dolphin Inn is welcoming and attentive. Breakfast is included during your stay.

Our trip was truly enjoyable and look forward to another visit.

Spent the night at Black Dolphin Inn
Arrived by boat and docked in front of this beautiful bed and breakfast,
Was greeted by Patricia who helped us bring in our bags and service dog from the dock. She showed us to our room, it was wonderful and very big with 2 king size beds , big living area
And bathroom with whirlpool tub and shower, it had coffee & tea bar , very comfortable room ; the next morning breakfast was delivered to our room
We had a choice of healthy breakfast bowl with berries or French toast with glazed apple & ham. The service was excellent , will return for sure.

After reviewing the website and YouTube video, we were all into booking the Black Dolphin Inn as the location to celebrate a special day. However, I still had a few questions about exactly which room to book to fit the experience I was desiring to create. After a simple phone call to the Inn, I was thoroughly impressed with the customer service and the room type suggested that met with what I wanted to experience. I would later realize that the person I spoke with was actually the owner, Brett. Upon arriving to the property we were pleased to find it to be even better than anticipated, and our expectations were up there!

Our room was lovely, very large with two outdoor balconies, one private and one shared, although we had both exclusively every time we sat out. The Inn gave a very private, warm, eclectic, and magical vibe. Our guestroom was very clean and the jetted soaking tub was heavenly. The daily breakfast choices delivered to the room each morning was a welcomed bonus. Of course, besides taking breakfast on the balcony the highlight of the Inn was the actual dolphins. Yes, directly across the street was a private dock/deck with ample seating to sit out a watch the dolphins. We enjoyed a magical time watching the dolphins play and fish leaping out of the water.

The Dolphin Inn has a total of 14 rooms, and we plan to stay in each one of them; our next stay will be in Room 203 which is one of the Premium Bayfront rooms. We have recommended this property to several family and friends and look forward to our next visit.

A warm thank you to Brett and his amazing team!

We booked our stay before the whole shut-down started, we were so happy that we did not have to cancel. We were in the Honeymoon Suite which was quite a treat! It is very large and the jetted tub was a nice touch. Also the fact that you have a large balcony next to the beautiful trees was another unique feature. We were able to see squirrels and birds up close. The owners were very attentive and they go out of their way to help in any way they can. We look forward to staying there again, you can’t beat it for a relaxing stay with views of the river.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights, just for a quiet getaway. It’s located on a residential street overlooking the inter coastal. The room was great. It had a mini fridge with freezer, so we brought some drinks and a bottle of wine. It was very clean and to minimize contact during Covid, they brought clean towels in a bag each day outside your door. Breakfast was delivered to our room. The food and ambiance was excellent. It’s a 5 minute drive to either the beach or historic area. We will definitely return. Thank you, Brett, for your kind hospitality!

Outriggers is a good place for cocktails and food on the river and to watch the beautiful boats go by. The Garlic is one of the most unique restaurants you will ever dine in. For yoga there are several morning yoga groups that meet on the beach (yes, yoga at oceanside) early on Saturday.
