Watt's residence was surrounded by the orange groves. The house sits on over an acre-plus of land within two blocks of downtown Mount Dora, on the corner of Third and Grandview. Quaint shops, fantastic restaurants and antique shops are nearby.

Detailed Reviews
Grandview is a beautiful bed and breakfast, rich in history and just a few blocks from the infamous marketplace in downtown Mount Dora. My husband and I took a three day respite from life and found our balance again thanks to Gwendolyn and the peacefulness that Grandview offers. Gwendolyn is the most precious hostess and made EVERY moment of our time delightful! Being mindful of my keto diet, Gwendolyn's Farm to Table breakfast included applewood smoked bacon, omelettes (from eggs provided by the family hen) filled with fresh vegetables (many from her own gardens). she even made cauliflower crepes which were awesome! After a filling breakfast, you can lounge by the pool, or sit on the private balcony porch from our Golden Pineapple room. The amenities (shampoo, conditioner, hand soaps, home made bath soaps, etc) are all green minded products to protect the Florida environment. We were in the second building which consisted of a huge front porch,a common living and dining room. The rich warmth of the old pine floors and the beauty of the staircase is highlighted by the antique fire place and plush furnishings. We found the home to be such a peaceful setting: birds singing, flowers blooming, orange trees budding with the glorious smell of the orange blossoms in the air! Also, Gwendolyn can get you information on the golf cart 'taxi' if you don't want to fight traffic/parking downtown. Every evening Gwendolyn hosts a social hour in the main building where you can sit and get to know those who have ventured into town, if you like. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time and plan to return for another stay soon. Life can't get any better than this!

We were a party of five ladies travelling from different parts of Florida and booked the Windmill Cottage as we wanted to be together and yet have enough space. It was perfect! Gwendolyn and Dennis are exceptional hosts and made sure we had everything we needed. The house and grounds are spotless and well cared for. The Windmill cottage has two queen and two twin beds and two bathrooms and a small refrigerator which accomdated our group splendidly. We had sangria and wine during social hour in the main house and Gwen gave us restaurant recommendations as well as the number of the golf cart service that took us everywhere for tips. Gwen's breakfast is fantastic and we loved the ricotta parfait made with fresh fruit and local honey. We ate at Cafe Gianni on Gwendolyn's recommendation and it did not disappoint. We had a great, relaxing weekend and I am looking forward to bringing my husband here in November.

We planned a short weekend getaway to Mount Dora and booked two nights at the Grandview B&B. We couldn't have chosen a more welcoming place. Our hosts, Gwendolyn and Dennis met us soon after we parked and helped us to our lovely room on the second floor of this historic residence. They gave us all of the information we needed about the facility and our surroundings and there were home-baked cookies waiting for us in our room.
The breakfasts were sublime and though we don't have any dietary restrictions, our hosts were prepared to honor them. Gwendolyn bakes all the treats.
The beds were comfortable, we had plenty of room for our belongings (we don't tend to pack light) and the home had lots of nice touches. One could make themselves comfortable in the front room, on the porch or out by the pool. It was a short walk into town and our hosts were ready with suggestions as to where to eat and what to do. All in all, a lovely weekend and we will surely be back.

Just spent the weekend here. We held my daughter's bridal shower in the main house. There were 14 of us, 6 stayed overnight Friday and Saturday. The breakfasts were fantastic, using locally sourced foods, and deliciously prepared. Gwendolyn is very gracious, and sweet. Her husband, Dennis made the coffee each morning and helped prepare all the food. We had tea sandwiches, teas and lemonade Saturday afternoon. The rooms in the main house are very comfortable, each with its own ensuite bathroom. Hand made soaps in the bathrooms were also locally made. When we went out to dinner each night a golf cart shuttle took us to and from downtown Mt. Dora. Gwendolyn was helpful in recommending restaurants to us, in general just a delight. We will go back to spend time in Mt. Dora with them.

The Inn Keepers Gwendolyn and Dennis were great hosts. Very friendly and helpful and always available but never a bother.
The inn is beautifully restored, extremely clean, and our room was amazingly quiet - directly above the dining room but the music or talking down there wasn't noticed. Lots of nice outdoor spaces to sit and relax, a wonderful place to enjoy my early morning coffee.
All the food was wonderful and the service was perfect.
Very close walk to the town shops and a waterfront park.
The town has two EV charging stations, only a slow 2-3 KW with a 4 hour limit, but a short walk from the Inn and a very welcome free little boost.
My wife and I had a very relaxing stay. A wonderful visit to Mount Dora. Thank you!

+1
I came here for a little personal getaway and, indeed, found the rest and relaxation I was looking for. First thing that impressed me was how this lovely, historic house was beautifully preserved/restored and kept immaculately clean. Seriously, not even a spec of dust under the furniture or on the air vents (I'm a bit of a hygiene freak so I take notice of such things).
Second, was the level of service I received which was far above anything I’ve experienced in quite some time. This is all thanks to the wonderful Gwen who is the very embodiment of hospitality. So considerate, affable, super accommodating, and a fantastic cook and baker. What also impressed me was that this is the first property I stayed at in a couple years that offers daily room cleaning/refreshment. I didn't take advantage of this for myself but appreciated the full-service experience that was being provided. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely be visiting again!

Even before we arrived the owners at the property were ready to make our stay perfect! We had selected the Picnic Option and Gwendolyn wanted us to have our perfect wine and snacks. It was amazingly romantic and we even got to keep the picnic basket! They go out of their way to ensure that you have what you need to feel comfortable from refreshments to meals. The property is close to parks, the water, and downtown. It is clean, quiet, and safe.
We will definitely return.

The property was lovely; my boyfriend and I went for a quick weekend getaway. We opted for the afternoon tea with Gwendolyn and my manly boyfriend said, "I never thought I would eat something called a cucumber sandwich, but this is delicious." Every bite of food from the afternoon tea to morning breakfasts was mouthwatering. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed, just a short walk to the heart of downtown. I had researched the area in advance so I had an idea of restaurants I wanted to visit, Gwendolyn was so helpful with recommendations as well as what was currently open (some places have closed temporarily because of COVID). This was just a random weekend for us but we will definitely be back for another visit, hopefully at one of Mount Dora's many festivals. 10/10 would stay here again!

What makes this bed and breakfast is the care & hospitality owners Gwendolyn and Dennis provide. They are so friendly & welcoming. This historic home built in 1906 is so charming with an interesting history. The home is lovingly preserved with many of the original details including the windmill. We enjoyed relaxing in the rocking chairs on the wraparound porch & the saltwater pool. There is plenty of seating covered & open to the sun. The homemade breakfast served every morning was very good. Some of the ingredients came from their own garden & eggs from their chickens. We stayed in the main house but their is also a separate cottage. Our room Crane’s Cove was on the second floor with the other guest rooms. This room is the largest in the main house with a queen & twin daybed. The room was spacious & very clean. The bathroom was huge & had some lovely original pieces. Our room was mostly quiet except when our neighbors were exiting their rooms. Nice touches were provided like a welcome drink, bath robes, pool towels & cookies in the evening. There was a small refrigerator in our hallway & in the dining area which was always stocked with bottle water. We loved the location. Mt Dora is such a quaint small town. Just a short stroll down the hill led you to all the shops, restaurants & beautiful lake
Dora. We always felt safe while exploring this wonderful town.

I know the windmill cottage is really nice. I know 3 people have stayed there one time, but not sure if 4-5 people would. I would call the innkeeper, Gwendolyn. She is the nicest, most accommodating person! She goes above and beyond to make sure you are happy!
We have stayed at the inn twice now and each of the rooms we had were very quiet. The people we encountered both stays were quiet and respectful.
Hello, Your view is very much Old Florida. Lots of tree canopies, plants. One of our rooms the Charleston has a view of our pool area and when it's clear, nice sunsets. Other than natural views, some of our rooms also look at our original 1906 Windmill on property.
