Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

My friend and I met in Mount Dora for a couple of days of shopping and time together and we were lucky enough to stay at the Heirloom Inn. The Inn is in a very walkable location to the shops and restaurants of historic Mount Dora. Our originally booked room was quite chilly with more cool weather expected and innkeeper Sheri graciously moved us to a larger room with central heating unit at no charge. Our bedding was comfortable, the room was really clean and the decor charming. Sheri was readily available by text and made several solid restaurant recommendations. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We stayed at The Heirloom Inn and were so pleased with this selection. It is a wonderful location as it is just a couple of blocks from the main part of town. This is not a B&B in the sense that there is no breakfast. In fact there was nobody there to check us in! All of the rooms have electronic locks and our room was ready early and we were advised by text and given the location of the room and the code for entry. Not everyone might like this feature but it is one of the things we liked about it. There iis a covered parking space in the back. We stayed in the Diamond Suite (suite 6) which turned out to be essentially a small apartment with a full kitchen and a separate sitting area. It was spotless and the bed was incredibly comfortable. We would definitely return.

This is exactly what we were hoping for. 1 block from the shops, clean room, clean shower, and affordable. I see people complaining on the reviews about the silliest stuff. You could hear other guests through the walls? Welcome to a hotel!

Support the Inns and hotels that are doing commercial business in a commercial area. Stop patronizing airbnb that are taking housing away from the blue collar residents.

Heirloom had free ice right outside our door, a big enough mini fridge to keep leftovers in, and a big enough trash can to actually use. The AC window unit was sufficient for the room size and kept us cool all night.

If I have added one thing it would be a small table in front of the couch for our coffee and dinner leftovers.

First off the location is wonderful; close to downtown and walking distance. Our two room "suite" consisted of two queen size beds which filled the two rooms. This meant there was only room for one small chair in one room. We used one bed for our luggage and my wife and I slept in the other bed/room. There was one very small shelf in the bathroom with no other surfaces for amenities, etc.
The floor was gritty, dirty and needed sweeping, mopping and a vacuum. The bathroom shower had a Jerry-rigged shower curtain and some dirty non-slip tape on the floor. There was a shower mat which was absolutely necessary to use for safety reasons. Our reservation included an additional $35. cleaning fee so the expectation was for a better experience.
There were two complimentary bottles of water in the room and a small coffee maker. We only stayed one night and never turned on the TV or used the WiFi so we cannot comment on them.
There was one parking spot available and it presented challenges in getting both in and out. I wished I had parked on the street. The check in and check out procedure was efficient and contactless.

My wife and I went on a business trip and didn't know where to stay. We happily ended up finding the most beautiful, well kept/maintained old Victorian-style house in the nicest little town of Mount Dora, that's why we call The Heirloom a jewel within a jewel. Staying innThe Heirloom was like going back in time, the ambience really transports you to hundreds of years back with the little perks and comfort of today's life. The suite was impeccable, clean and comfortable. Very convenient as is literally walking distance from the main streets of Mount Dora (with shops, boutiques, tons of restaurants, etc.) as well as a few mins drive from other shopping centers in case you need goodies. Would definitely stay again.

Let me start out by saying the bed was very comfortable. Other than that we did not enjoy our stay. The place does not really have any personality. they don't allow calling to book, I thought it was a bed & breakfast as it looks like it, but I think they just cheaped out and called it an Inn so they wouldn't have to serve food. The walls are paper thin. The guests above us came in at 1 a.m. and stopped on our heads for hours, then got up early and we could hear the water running, the blow dryer... etc. Their court yard and out door area really needs help. The rooms were okay but they could have done so much better to make them charming. We would not stay again and would not recommend it especially for what we were charged-VERY OVERPRICED for the accommadations

Response from David Saulsbury, Owner at The Heirloom Inn
Responded 15 Feb 2023
Sorry you did not understand that we are not a bed and breakfast, but an Inn with no food service. As to the misperception that we do not allow calling to book, not sure where that came from. We encourage direct reservations. As to the rooms not “charming”, we are relatively new owners and are taking things one room at a time to update and upgrade from the previous owners tastes.

This was a great place and the location was amazing. Literally, 1 min walk to downtown with all the restaurants, bars and shopping. Was exactly what we needed traveling with a teenager. We had the bedroom and my child had the pull out sofa in the living room. There is a small fridge and microwave, along with a coffee maker which is perfect for what we needed.

I only got to see my room, which was only fair. The A/C didn’t reach the second bedroom very well, it was lacking in aesthetics, very cramped and only 1 chair to sit in. In talking with the owners, they have only had the inn for 3 weeks and are planning major renovations for the room we had. The inn is in a great location and the outside was very nice, kind of a “vintage Florida” look. I think there’s a lot of potential here, just needs some TLC. Although my stay this time wasn’t great, the other rooms may be better, and I would certainly stay here again once the renovation work is completed.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights recently. We had a king suite. It was spotless. We had a sitting room with a sofa that could have been made into a twin bed, a bedroom with a king bed, a full kitchen and a small bathroom. It was the first time we stayed at a place without a formal check-in desk. We had a cell phone, so there was no problem. Checking in and out were done by phone. The door was a little tricky, but once one of the cleaners showed us how to work it, we had no problem. The Inn supplied a semi-sheltered place to park our car in their lot. There was also an outside sitting area with chairs and a gazebo. We couldn't have asked for a
better location. If you're thinking about staying at this Inn, just remember that it is an old house. Yes, the floors creak a little, but that doesn't bother us in the least. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The Heirloom Inn is a quaint Mt Dora treasure, an easy walk (2 blocks) to the downtown shopping/dining district and a quick drive (2 miles) to Renninger's Antique/Flea Market. Clean and cute. Easy check-in and out. I stayed in #1 which is great for 2 travelers who want twin beds and a first floor room. There's a third twin bed in the entry portion of the room, but I think it might be harder to sleep there as it is closer to the outdoor porch lighting. Covered off-street parking is available, too (might be a tight squeeze for extra large vehicles) but street parking is free also.

I didn’t see any restrictions listed, and you basically have your own suite, so can’t see why a baby would be a problem.
