This is the poshest hostel I have stay at, both price wise and how sophisticated it is with the layout and decoration. The reception area is great, staffs are helpful. The room is clean, there is a "private" bathroom for your shared room which is great! A really good big locker. What I like the most is how thoughtful the bunk bed is with personal sockets and light and spaces you can put some of your personal things. It would be perfect if you can have a privacy curtain. Location wise is not bad, few mins walk from the beach, free trolley right outside the hostel takes you to South Beach. Bus 150 only took 15 20 mins to the airport which is pretty amazing!
As a traveller from the UK, paying about $75 for a night at sharing room is a bit too much but the quality makes up for it. Maybe I just went during Spring break as the reason the price being more expensive. Overall, it is a great stay.

The location is great - you can walk to South or North beach there is a trolley stop on the door step bus an airport express bus stop and local buses. You can take the J bus to near Wynwood and get to most places with one bus and then a 20 max min walk.

All the staff are super friendly and helpful, the hotel has everything you could want (its missing a gym but the pool is great). The bar and resturant have a wonderful atomsphere- I stayed in an all female dorm which was fantastic and met some great ladies and we where able to talk and share tips and advice which when travelling my yourself is super helpful. The beds where comfortable, the rooms where super clean and the facilities where really good.

Please note though that it costs to leave luggage, its $7 for a medium bag and $10 for a large back and its lockers so it you have a checked bag or especially a hard suitcase then it may not fit.

When I decided to spend a couple of days in Miami, I was surprised by the good pricing at the Generator even though it was high season (early January). I booked a bed in a 6-bed female dorm which turned out to be spacious, clean and with its own ensuite bathroom. For each bed a locker (bring your own lock!), night / reading light as well as outlet to charge your devices is included.
Regarding its location - it is great. Located in close to Middle Beach, you can get to the beach within minutes and there is a bus / free trolley stop right across the street which makes getting around the city very easy. The staff is very helpful and happy to give you a restaurant recommendation if needed (the restaurant on site is also very good)

FYI: CollinsAve is under construction,to get in and out from this particular location is rough. I would move either further south or further north of this place There was no access to parking to unload bags , no access to ice , our tv was literally a box on the wall , it had no hdmi or cable wire hooked up so I couldn’t even use chrome cast or anything once I called it a night. The restaurants/bar are not open so don’t think u are getting an all in one. There is no notice of this until you get to the place. So no room service . Wifi was complete trash and staff is so rude when you ask. The only reason I found out the restaurants bar weren’t open bec we tried to get ice and then room service. They said get Uber eats , our restaurant isn’t open.there is a better way of approaching or have notice in lobby. If you have a rental you have to find a parking garage that is not with them . Closest one is about 3blocks down. This place is good if you literally just need a bed. We got this bec if had full amenities where we didn’t have to leave. We needed a bed , food , and water. In the lounge/lobby , The vending machines literally didn’t have water, the bathrooms didn’t have soap to wash your hands , I asked if there was any soap they looked at me like I was bothering so I used my hand sanitizer.

I had very few issues during my stay. The worst thing about this hotel is probably that its restaurant does not serve french fries. other than that, it is an amazing place to stay. The rooms were cleaned every day and if you were not staying in a private room, the staff let you know when someone will be coming. One issue I had was the floors didn’t seem to be swept, but that also could have been an issue of foot traffic. The atmosphere of the hotel is amazing overall, the pool is so relaxing to sit by and they have plenty of chairs and areas to lounge in, whether that is outside or in the lobby. Also, Generator is set in a prime location. There is a bus stop across the street and another around the corner, so finding transportation is super easy and convenient even when you aren’t ubering. The security guard is always around and invisible. I did not have breakfast at the hotel, but I did have lunch and I definitely recommend the chicken burrito! Their drinks were also amazing as well, the lemonade and strawberry lemonade were my favorites. If you are a fan of the beach, you will actually love this place because the beach is legitimately around the corner. Such an amazing experience!

Generator Miami was my first hostel experience and the bar was set really high. The location is perfect . Its super close to public transportation. The express bus stop to and from the airport is steps from the front door. The beach is across the street and there is a market nearby and many many coffee shops and restaurants along Collins to choose from. It's up to you if you want to socialize or chillax in one of the many vibey common areas. My bathroom along with the lobby restroom was clean and always stocked with TP. No blow dryer in the room but just ask at the front desk and one will be provided to use. My only callouts would be the room vents need cleaning as there was a collection of dust accumulated. Also privacy, you wouldnt expect much of it as you are in a shared room however, a male staff member knocked and entered the female room without announcing himself to change out bedsheets. Not a huge problem but could be alarming if you are coming out of the shower and a strange man is there. Please provide "staff" or "housekeeping" shirts to team members who enter guest rooms. Great value. I will visit again. Thank you.

This was my second time staying at a Generator — I was super impressed after staying at the Amsterdam location and Miami did not disappoint! I stayed in a 4-bed female dorm. Very clean, pretty spacious layout, private bathroom. The luggage lockers in the room are a great size. Loved the pool and outdoor area. (My only complaint is no coffee available on-site in the morning, but that may be due to one of the two restaurants being temporarily closed.) The location is steps to restaurants and cafes; South Beach is a walkable distance as is North Beach — all along the main road, Collins Ave. The beach can be accessed right across the street, and a bus stop for public transit to/from the airport is also across the street. Front desk staff was super helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again!

The people here are all about your individual experience. Clean, comfortable, super friendly. Close to all the awesome Miami South Beach nightlife. I was kind of sad I couldn't bring my little companion dog, but in the end it was best. Parking if you bring a car is expensive 35 a night at the closest place, however with a tip from one of the employees, I parked in a garage downtown took the free trolley or walked. It is always great when the little things that aren't quite what you want, get turned around to something great.
Awesome job to all, Superbowl weekend experience was spectacular!!

Not the cleanest room and uncomfortable bed. The king room is a lie, it’s two double beds joined together. The room cleaning service is inconsistent, often times would not receive any towels. The location is okay, it’s near the Miami Beach trolley pick up.

The facilities and Amenities of the Hotel/Hostel are amazing and top tier. I would recommend anyone to stay here. Unfortunately the Customer Service and front desk staff were awful and extremely rude and unprofessional. I would say that because the Hotel/Hostel is so well maintained and the amenities were top tier I gave it the rating I did. They have a Pool, Free Bike rentals, Free beach chair rentals. The Bar is open from Wednesday-Sunday. The beach is actually like a five minute walk. They are constantly cleaning and it’s a beautiful well designed Hotel. So the Hotel/Hostel is definitely something to rave about. The Vibes are chill. Another downside is that the location is far away from the South Beach area but still amazing if you want to be away from the Noise. They do have a Starbucks near by and a liquor store as well as a local supermarket and sandwich shop. I really as pleasantly surprised at the experience. They also have a lot of different spaces for people that are working from home to use. The wifi is amazing and definitely something to rave about.
