The Mandarin Oriental, Miami, poised in a prime location, garners appreciation from travelers for its proximity to local attractions and stunning views, though traffic issues are a noted drawback. While the hotel's amenities, including the pool and spa, are a highlight, guests have pointed out the pool's modest size and extra charges for breakfast basics. Opinions on service and atmosphere are divided; commendations are given for staff attentiveness and scenic vistas, but critiques surface regarding management and dated decor.
Room experiences vary, with some visitors enjoying the spaciousness and cleanliness, while others call for modernization and report minor issues with upkeep. Despite overall cleanliness being praised, the value proposition of the hotel is questioned by many who find the prices steep relative to the facilities and services offered.

My family stayed in Mandarin oriental Miami for three nights during the holiday season. This hotel is a little old compared with a lot of other 5-star hotels. But the service and the breakfast are still highlights of our stay.
The service of the hotel definitely is par or better than the other 5-star hotels we have stayed in Miami. From the valet, bellman who welcomes you to check in and room service, then to the restaurant and pool side, all staff are very actively giving help and politely.
The rooms are spacious enough; we had two basic rooms facing Brickell skyline and Biscayne Bay, and both rooms’ views are very nice.
The breakfast buffet is very good with a lot of variety. You can also order from the menu. They have the most variety of fruits I have seen in Miami or Sarasota hotels. All are cut freshly and there is an unlimited supply.
The pool is not big but even during the holiday season, it is not too crowded. Maybe because it’s more a city hotel instead of a family-with-kids oriented resort. Pool bar has good drinks and food. It has the best price fresh coconut in Miami 5-star hotel and resorts.
This hotel may got demolished soon and build two high-rise tower for residence and hotel. There are multiply sales lounge and signs of residence for sale around hotel.
Overall, this hotel deserves a 5 star review.

Truly a special experience with caring, well trained staff that sets the bar high in the Mandarin Oriental brand and among luxury hotel. Incredible views of the Miami skyline and the water.
Loved: - The special welcome at the front desk with hibiscus tea and a cold towel - The pool attendants bringing a bucket of ice and cold water to your table and offers to adjust your umbrella. Thank you to Kevin and Michael for the great service. We really appreciated the wonderful job the kitchen staff did splitting a Tuna Poke bowl for us. - The spacious room, Las Vegas luxury hotel size, with the window opening looking from the tub surrounded in marble to the bedroom and stunning view of Miami from your balcony. There is a window blind for privacy as well. - The bottles of water by the bedside that are replenished during turn-down service. - The plush washcloths, towels and the thoughtful amenities such as a dental kit, shaving kit, sewing kit, and shower caps - Color-safe shampoo and conditioner - Infinity rounded pool has the most padded, comfortable lounge chair I have ever laid on! Plenty of umbrellas. - The "wow" factor as you enter the lobby with the stunning floor to ceiling windows of the water and flowers. The path around Brickell Key right outside the hotel for about a mile walk along the water. - The M.O. Bar with the wonderful violin and piano player on Friday playing great, popular music. Our lovely waitress who provided gracious service. - Enjoyed the Mandarin Breakfast at La Mer in the morning with the tropical fruits, dumplings and congee with chicken. Husband enjoyed the American breakfast. Really lovely way to start the day with a view of Miami from the balcony - Thank you for the welcome back chocolates

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I traveled with a friend for a vacation getaway and chose the Mandarin Oriental Miami based on my previous excellent experiences staying at the M.O. properties in Geneva, Barcelona, and Las Vegas (the latter is now a Waldorf Astoria). Once again, I had a terrific time. I was upgraded to a veranda room and enjoyed lounging on my terrace just contemplating the view of the bay and city skyline at night (daytime in late July is a scorcher). While some of the furnishings are now showing their age, my room and bathroom were spotless. The bed was remarkably comfortable and the bathroom is stocked with premium toiletries by the Barcelona-based skincare brand Natura Bissé.
In addition to luxurious lodgings, service is the M.O. calling card and overall this property did not disappoint. As expected, there was daily housekeeping and evening turndown service, which included room/bath refreshing if needed. All staff members -- front desk, concierge, spa, restaurants -- were unfailingly warm and accommodated requests. In-room coffeemakers are not automatically placed in guest rooms (rather surprising), but a Nespresso machine was delivered as soon as I asked for this. A house car is available daily after 4:30 PM; I extend thanks to Daniel, our driver, who dropped us off at Brickell City Centre so my friend and I could indulge in an afternoon of shopping therapy and later picked us up to return to the hotel. We also enjoyed our spa treatnents, which Herby helped me book by phone in advance of our arrival.
The lobby bar is a good place to unwind. We enjoyed free mini-cocktails one evening (a Fans of M.O. benefit) and lunch the next day - I recommend the bento box special. Breakfast, while expensive, offers an excellent buffet option as well as an extensive a la carte menu, with an option for indoor or outdoor seating.
I returned home refreshed and de-stressed. My one disappointment is that after the hotel closes in May of next year we'll have to wait until 2030 when the newly rebuilt property is scheduled to reopen.

The experience does not live up to the name Mandarin Oriental. I booked a room for 4 adults directly on the Mandarin Oriental website for a family stay.
Several points: - it is incredible that this room is marketed for 4 people when it has 2 beds less than 130cm wide - the beds were old and stained (the bed being badly made with the mattress misplaced, this was visible unfortunately) - the room had been prepared only for 2 people and not 4, this was felt in all services (towels, bathrobes, slippers, etc.) - the reception and concierge service is bad, not only unpleasant but also incompetent (they did not even know how to describe the spa services, could not give alternatives to the parking service with valet even for a parking of 10 minutes) - the size of the pool and the number of beds are ridiculously small compared to the number of rooms - the breakfast buffet is very limited in choice and again the service is poor (we were still forbidden to change tables before we even started ordering because the table was already registered in the system? I had explained that I was too cold inside because of the air conditioning and there were plenty of tables available outside)
Finally, during the check out, the receptionist asked me how my stay went. I told her it was really not amazing and she just said “ok” without asking why...

The hotel is excellent, well located, beautiful. The service of the staff is very good, polite and attentive The room is great, we stayed in one with views to the skyline of Miami, beautiful view. The bed is comfortable, sheets of excellent quality, large bathrooms the towels tb of excellent quality Room service works well, fast The pool is good, has a beautiful view, but it is small and the deck is very small, which leads to having chairs in small quantity and a glue on the other. The staff are attentive and comes immediately put towels on the chairs. And a universal problem several chairs "resaved", the hspedes leave books, glasses, caps, water bottle to "mark" place. Another aspect that I did not like and I think the hotel should correct is about the fare with breakfast, in fact you have a credit of U$100 per apartment, but this is not clear in the reservation, but the worst is that a couple with fare with breakfast included the credit is not enough, because the buffet is US$45 per person, US$90 per couple with fee and gorgeta the account is in US117 , it is a small difference but who makes the reservation with breakfast included does not like to have to pay anything more because you used the one you hired. But unfortunately this assessment and others will not be useful as the hotel will close in May 2025 and will not reopen until 2030. There will be a residential building and another smaller hotel.

From the moment we walked in until the moment we walked out the service was exceptional! We were warmly welcomed by Timo at check-in who answered all my questions, recognized that I was a Fans of M.O member, and made sure we had everything we needed before going up to our room. I don't know his name, but a wonderful bar tender in the lounge granted my wish of making me a purple specialty cocktail that is no longer on the menu. It was delicious and so kind of him! On the last morning of our stay, Angela from room service was kind, caring, and greeted us warmly. She delivered our breakfast on time and with a cheerful demeanor. She made sure that the table was positioned perfectly and that all of our food was perfect as well. Excellent attention to detail and very much appreciated!

I have just checked out after a one-night stay, and unfortunately, this was by far the worst Mandarin Oriental property I have ever stayed in. Having experienced their hotels worldwide, I would be embarrassed to call this a 5-star establishment or even part of their brand. I later discovered that the tower is set to be demolished and replaced in May, and frankly, I can see why.
Upon arrival, I was greeted politely, but I found it odd that I had to fetch my own welcome drink. I was then informed that my room was ready, but when I entered, it was still full of cleaning supplies and had not been set up. After reporting this to reception before heading out for the afternoon, the receptionist made a phone call, but no further effort was made to acknowledge or rectify the issue.
During check-out, I was not once asked about my stay, but I didn’t bother bringing it up as I had already endured a terrible breakfast experience. The server appeared embarrassed by the service and mentioned that the manager would come over—she never did. My table was not properly set, and while other guests around me received what they requested promptly, I felt completely ignored. My eggs took over 30 minutes to arrive, by which time I had already asked the server to cancel them, as my toast had gone cold and I had eaten other items from the buffet. My coffee was served, but the server spilt it, promised to clean it up, and never did. I had to ask three times for a spoon to stir my coffee and waited over 15 minutes for more milk. Had breakfast not been included with my Amex FHR booking, I certainly wouldn’t have paid for it.
To make matters worse, the manager happened to be at the pay desk when I left breakfast, and I told her about my experience. She acknowledged that the server had informed her but never once asked me directly about the issues. Her lack of concern was evident, making the situation even more disappointing.
I paid over $600 for one night and feel completely ripped off. The hotel room was in poor condition—the shower door wouldn’t close properly, causing water to flood the floor, which led to me slipping several times. When I mentioned this to the receptionist that afternoon, she simply responded with a dismissive “OK, thanks for letting us know.”
This hotel is in desperate need of an upgrade, and I would not return in its current state. Perhaps after it is rebuilt, I would consider giving it another chance. However, I left feeling that I would have been better off booking elsewhere. The manager at breakfast showed no concern—she seemed more interested in getting me to sign the bill than addressing any issues.
Most of the staff were lovely, but the overall experience was severely let down by poor management and substandard facilities. My advice? Avoid this property until the rebuild is complete. As a long-time fan of Mandarin Oriental, this was a major disappointment—though I will say, their beds remain excellent!

Nowadays even top level hotel brands struggle to provide exemplary service. But this is not a case for Mandarin. Excellent service is a hotel DNA and all staff worked on top customer service standards making our stay special. Sebastian and his front end team went above and beyond to accommodate all our requests starting with early check-in, great room assignment and local attraction suggestions. Housekeeping, pool service and restaurant staff all were very professional and on top standards. The hotel located on a separate island, so location is very secure and just 5 min walk over the bridge to all attractions that Brickell districting can provide. Definitely recommend to stay and will get back soon.

Lovely location, great staff, hotel is certainly not luxurious. The beds are the worst I’ve had in a hotel much less a luxury hotel, the towels could have been from a Hampton Inn, the television is so old it has several light spots on the screen where the backlights have fallen out of their spot, the room is dated and there are several fixtures in the bathroom that are in need of repair. Unfortunate because when I think of Mandarin Oriental, I think luxury, but the only thing luxury was the price. Just because you put a hotel in this location and call it Mandarin Oriental doesn’t mean it deserves the Mandarin Oriental label.

Wonderful stay at the Mandarin Oriental. The room was spacious and beautifully designed. Location was very convenient (10 minute walk to Equinox Brickell) and it was nice to feel that the space was private on a mini island.
What made me remember to write a review over a year later (actual stay was May 2023) was the excellent service that Alvaro provided with my room service order. I was unable to thank him properly as I was busy on a work call, but I was so impressed by the way he opened the plate cover to present my very simple salad order with a flourish and laid out the condiments with utmost care. It is rare to experience exceptional hospitality service like this and I wish I hadn't made him feel rushed due to my meeting. When I called guest services I was recommended to write a review, so I hope I am not too late in showing my appreciation for him here.
