I write this with a heavy heart, because I have been a Kimpton member and fan since 2002. But ever since Kimpton joined IHG I've noticed a marked difference in the clientele and overall quality of experience. My travel partner and I spent around $600 to spend a night at the Epic in Miami and suffice to say it wasn't worth it AT ALL. First, our room overlooked construction (joy) that promptly started at 8 am the next day. Were we warned of this? Of course not. Next, one of our sinks stayed clogged the entire time. We told maintenance. Did anyone fix it? Nope. Oh and there was the wonderfully LOUD noise that I initially attributed to our neighbors playing some sort of instrument. Turns out it was the pipes. They made noise whenever I or our neighbors ran water for a reasonable amount of time. Were we moved? Nah. Just got an explanation and a shrug. To cap it all off, when we ordered room service the food was BAD. $18 for 3 mini short rib tacos that tasted horrid. Short ribs are super easy to season and cook. I refused to spend the $20 (once you added tax etc) they wanted and sent it back. The only thing I'd say you're paying for is the location which is nice being downtown, but don't plan on bringing a car. The valet/front entrance area is hot mess of confusion when trying to utilize it. For the money we spent I would have gladly stayed at a small Airbnb instead, and will do so next time. Subpar experience Kimpton. Subpar.…
