Detailed Reviews
Second stay at Lakeside Inn. We stayed 2 nights in 2019 and again 2 nights in 2020. The room was very comfortable and staying there is very convenient as our room was just steps away from the small parking lot and even closer to the pool. The studio room is very small but had everything we needed. The facility is very clean and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.
While there is no food service on site, restaurants and stores are plentiful and within close proximity. Having a refrigerator in the room and small kitchenette does allow flexibility for having a quick bite in the room or outside.
In summary, it’s not luxurious but it works very well. We will stay there again and recommend it to others. The only reason for 4 stars is that the rooms, especially the bathroom could use some updating.

This is a modest facility. Having said that, very clean. Comfortable bed, easy access, swimming pool and nice view of the nearby pond. If you’re expecting the Hyatt Regency, you’ll be disappointed but for the money, this is a good bet. Our room had kitchenette in it which we did not need to use but is available for those who value that. Alma was exceedingly helpful at the front desk.

We stayed in the duplex properties across the street from the actual lakeside hotel. They were freshly updated and very clean. The full size washer/dryer were a bonus as was the well appointed kitchen. The only disappointment was we could not really use the adorable screened in back patio as the neighbors were an issue. There were empty beer cans and alcohol bottles tossed over the fence and a loud party one night that went on til 2 am. That being said, the staff is fantastic and the unit was great.

I really wanted to like this place, but I couldn’t. After reading the reviews, it seemed like a really nice place to stay, even the pictures looked nice. Pictures don’t show everything, water damage, dirty carpet, dirty, torn curtains, poor paint job. The living area and bedroom furniture had been updated and were nice, but the kitchen and bath needed a complete makeover. The kitchen had over the refrigerator height small cabinets that I could not reach, that were original with a bad paint job, a huge over the stove microwave that you couldn’t open the door all the way, a countertop that needed to be replaced, but it did have a nice coffeemaker and was well stocked with cream/sugar, salt and pepper and a couple of coffee packs, and a toaster. If you are used to staying in a hotel room having a kitchen is a bonus. The bathroom was a mess!!! An original bathtub, water damaged walls, a kiddie sized toilet and bath vanity(30 in). Even our 6 year old granddaughter noticed it was kid sized bathroom. Extra towels were placed on a over the toilet cabinet and i couldn’t reach those either. However, the new shower head was wonderful, if you could get it turned on and off. My husband had to fight with the faucet each time we took a shower.
The best part was the screened in deck overlooking the lake. We enjoy sitting out and watching the wildlife, birds, turtles and even an iquana. There was a small hole in the screen but we put a couple of tissues in it to fix it, and the chairs will soon need to be replaced. The a/c unit was loud on the deck.
Location is good, easy access to things. It was nice to have free parking and no resort fee. The nearest Publix with restaurants and shops had a crazy parking lot, so we drove a little farther to another one with easier access.
With a little work, mostly the kitchen and bath, and carpet, this could be a nice little place. If they don't just go to looking in the clearance aisle to find the cheapest item you can find to replace something, which is obviously what they did with the bath vanity. Make it a place worthy of the rates you are charging and the overrated reviews. This is unit 107.

we stayed at the hotel and had a great visit. We had a lovely room which was spotless overlooking the lake where we got to sit on our porch and enjoy the view and the wildlife. It was close to everything the staff was exceptionally nice. We enjoyed the pool also. I would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the island

The rooms were clean enough but certainly not updated, extremely bright lighting, low end furniture... just felt very low budget overall. The biggest thing was the location was disappointing with an industrial park on one side and a lower end residential neighborhood on the other side. It's not walking distance to the shops or restaurants and I wouldn't have felt comfortable wandering after dark anyway. All of that said, it seemed full of tourists with families that were enjoying the pool and themselves. The front desk folks seemed nice as well.

We were not able to participate in a scheduled cruise so we spent a week here instead. Our room was a single bedroom with a kitchen and living room so we were able to prepare meals with the help of the nearby Publix Supermarket. We were slightly delayed at check-in because they were installing a new mattress on the bed, which was a great trade! The swimming pool was clean and a comfortable temperature. Access to the north and south ends of the island was easy and the price was reasonable. We never did get to see the alligator that is reportedly living in the lake but there was a great variety of water fowl to watch.

Our unit had two bedrooms, one bath, a living area, and a kitchenette. It was very accommodating. The beds were VERY comfortable. The bedrooms had blackout curtains in addition to wooden blinds, so the sun won't wake you up if you don't want it to. The reception staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again.
Other notes:
The pool is small.
There is a grocery store nearby.

The property is located in an older, less well maintained area of the island. The main building is very small with two floors. The office closes at 8:pm. If you're just looking for a place to lay your head at nights, this is a nice for the price property. We stayed in a row-cabin style room (separate from the main building) with two bedrooms and a full kitchen. The landscaping around our unit was very nice. Parking was right by our unit. Our unit was very comfortable, everything in working order. There is a small pool and a tiny beach with a few lounge chairs that overlooks what can only be described as a lagoon . It's definitely not a lake, more like a large pond and the water is a strange shade of brown. Although there was no sign posted, we were told no swimming as there are alligators around. I can't imagine anyone would get in the water given the color but still it seems a sign should be posted. The pool towels are threadbare, I could literally see through them. If you just need a place to sleep while you head out during the day for adventure, this would work fine.

Tucked on a quite street away from the traffic and congestion is this little gem. We were delighted to have a clean, large room with big towels in our TWO bathrooms. The lakeside rooms are vintage, so expect some eccentricities. (There are newer villas if older isn't your thing). The entire staff was delightful and seemed to enjoy their jobs!! The property is not on the beach, but there is a clean good sized pool on the property with plenty of seating and umbrellas.

Good evening marybeth678,
On our property you can not buy drinks. But you can bring your own beer or wine and you can drink by the pool (in a plastic cup please) and under the tiki hut. We also have an ice machine.
As hot as it is this time of year, i would say no- the beach is 2 miles away but only a 5 minute drive away and has over 200 parking spaces.I would suggest driving or renting a bike if you enjoy that.
Kind Regards,
Marcia
